Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 68 - Saturday - September 21, 2024

They held their last veto draw: everyone will play except Rubina. Makensy told Cam and Chelsie she was glad of that because Rubina would take Kimo down and she wants noms to stay the same, but she also said she'd be okay if Kimo saves himself. She said if either nominee comes down, she'd put up Rubina. Chelsie pushed for Leah to be the renom, and when Cam left she griped that he needed to pull his weight and win some comps for them. Chelsie pushed some more for Leah and asked Makensy why she wouldn't consider her. Makensy said "my morals, my ethical code, I don't have the heart," adding she was trying to play an honest game and had reassured Leah she's safe this week. She'd told Angela the same thing, but she acknowledged that by saying "this is the first week I'm kinda lying." We are deep in the rationalized hypocrisy period of the game, along with the toxic. (Related: see my new ratings below.) Chelsie's revved up her tactic of planting little seed bombs to get people to dislike whoever she wants targeted, while cozying up to those people herself. It's good BB, but not always easy to watch. Cam and Rubina joked about the monotony in there, and the repetitive cycle of talks, meetings, and campaigns.

Feeds were down just under seven hours for their veto comp. Makensy won, so Angela will likely be the first of two heading to jury on Thursday. It's beyond unlikely that Angela will be able to sway Makensy, but Chelsie or Leah might have a shot. We'll see. The comp was individual timed runs, having to find or match animals including fish, possums, lobsters in a forest setting, with an audio clues component. Makensy completed it in nine minutes, Angela and Kimo both timed out at 45 minutes, and several of them took 30-40 minutes. Cam was very disappointed in his performance, as was Kimo, but Kimo was chirpy and happy, so Angela's radar might have gone up if she noticed that. Chelsie and Leah, and Kimo and Rubina discussed needing to get Makensy gone before they get closer to the end since she's winning too often, but Kimo and Rubina agreed someone else should do it so they don't get dreaded bloody hands (please). The comp was a movie tie-in, apparently for Wild Robot, and Makensy said she'd take Cam, Kimo, Rubina as her guests to watch it since they haven't won HOH yet.

They got a booze delivery: even a lengthy veto comp and a lengthy movie promo will need some filler for Wednesday's 90 minute show. Sunday services were announced for tomorrow, with a devotional segment co-led by Chelsie and Makensy, followed by a guided meditation with Cam, followed by song. That led to around 39 renditions of their summer song with everyone joining in. Angela seemed like she was having a good enough time but her inner thoughts were almost readable on her face. Dinner was finally ready and they all sat down to eat around 11.30pm, with everyone gushing about what a great meal it was (fried chicken, potatoes, broccoli). Gametalk was nowhere to be found, which Angela surely noticed. Chelsie told us to watch tomorrow's show to see results of the HOH comp they started on Thursday (we know!) plus Zingbot, and then she launched into a preaching session. Angela approached her to say she doesn't know what will happen this week but she wouldn't ask Makensy to veto her off the block, and she wanted to move forward with Chelsie. And she said she didn't feel well, and she went to bed crying. Kimo gave her a good night hug and said he understood, and Chelsie relayed to Makensy and Cam what she'd said.

Day 69 - Sunday - September 22, 2024

Last night Chelsie and Cam had another hash-it-out session but this one was more productive than usual. He said he wants others to think they aren't as close gamewise as they are, so even if they complain to people about each other, it's for the bigger purpose and she's still his number one in the game. I don't think this morning's planned Sunday services happened, possibly because they were all doing lengthy veto Diaries and possibly because it was a boozy idea that wasn't as big a priority the morning after as it was when they planned it. (I'm not complaining: I am very much for separation of church and BB.) Angela asked Leah if she thought Makensy and Chelsie want her gone. Leah said they hadn't told her that, but people have flipped on her before plus they know she's close with Angela. And they both said they've noticed Rubina gametalking and getting closer to various people than she was before. Angela said Chelsie has twisted her words about Leah, and Leah said she knew that. Angela said Chelsie has Cam's back more than she does Makensy's (so much for that Cam/Chelsie plan), and she said if Makensy holds one-on-ones she'll talk to her about the veto, despite having told Makensy last night she wouldn't ask for veto to be used on her. Leah said if it's a tie, Makensy would probably keep Angela. (Oop, Makensy has said several times she wants a tie so she can be the one to boot Angela.)

Hold the presses! Chelsie and Cam went to work on Makensy again to renom Leah. That seemed like beating a dead horse but they presented a good pitch (good for Makensy's ears anyway), by saying Leah's never hit the block, and she wants Chelsie out (oop again: Makensy's the one who reported that to Chelsie). They said it would be a huge move for Makensy's resumé at the end, it would gain T'kor's trust, and Leah's the only one causing problems currently - for everyone - and booting the one making problems is always a winning move. Chelsie said Leah has stolen Makensy's social tactics and is using them to her own advantage, and she said not to worry about jury management and hurt feelings because Leah wasn't worried about hurting Makensy's feelings. It all felt like too much but they did a good job, and it was effective enough for Makensy to seriously consider it. She wondered if she should not say anything and just pull a blindside at tomorrow's veto meeting, and that it would make an awkward couple of days until eviction. Cam and Chelsie assured her that part would be okay.

Rubina took the next shift with Makensy, who opened by asking if Leah's said anything about her, and she pointed out the various duos and said she doesn't feel like she's anybody's number one. Rubina said she thinks she (Makensy) is Chelsie's number one(!), and asked who Makensy would like to see as F3. Makensy said she'd love that to be the two of them plus Chelsie. Rubina said "I'll be honest, I don't have a good chance of winning, but if I can be part of making that historical moment happen, I don't care who wins" and Makensy said she felt the same. (The historical moment they want is to be the first season with two women at the end. Bless their hearts.) Rubina said she feels Leah's ideal F3 would be with Angela and Cam, and Makensy basically said not on her watch, and she is "considering" replacing Kimo with Leah. Rubina played along some more and Makensy finally said getting Leah out "is what I want, and I think everybody would be on page with that, and I just hope that's what we can do." And she added she hopes Angela wouldn't be mad and retaliate against her. (Maybe she forgot she told Angela her target was definitely Kimo. And let's not even talk about having a women's F2 goal but leaving two women on the block this week, when two men are right there.)

Angela, assuming noms will stay the same, made a pitch to Cam and then to Makensy. Chelsie and Rubina had a check-in over the pool table, with Kimo joining, all of them unaware Leah was sunbathing up on the balcony. She seemed to be trying to listen, then she stood up, and heard shushing when they saw her. Leah went inside and told Angela and Makensy what happened, and said she didn't hear what was said but she heard them shushing each other when they saw her, and now she's freaking out. She went back out to the yard to find Rubina, Kimo, Chelsie doing a sound check to see if voices carried up to the balcony or not. Chelsie went to do damage control with Makensy, and to suggest her script for the veto meeting, and Rubina told Kimo that Makensy's considering taking him off the block and replacing him with Leah. He said "OMG no way," proving how unaware he is of how his fate's being decided. He and Rubina played some more pool, and sang their song again. This season is so bonkers and just keeps delivering for Team Fun Feeds.

Makensy, Cam, Kimo, Rubina watched the Wild Robot movie, and later said they enjoyed it, while the episode was on for us, and Angela, Chelsie, Leah rehashed the season downstairs, with a lot of Tucker emphasis and a bit of Joseph. Leah met with Makensy and told her about catching Chelsie, Kimo, Rubina whispering then shushing earlier, and how that freaked her out. Makensy said she still wasn't sure what she's going to do but she didn't want to use her veto, and she stuck with her original story (for Leah and Angela) about wanting Kimo to go. She asked what Leah's heard and Leah said nobody's talked to her. Leah launched into one of her mega-marathon talks, saying if Angela goes it wouldn't be good for them, and she guaranteed Angela wouldn't put up either of them, and she pushed for a Rubina renom. She went on and on, repeating "I just don't want to played" multiple times. Eventually Makensy put on her sunglasses, started to sink deeper into her pillows, and yawned repeatedly. Downstairs, Kimo and Rubina remained completely unbothered, and led the others in more singing. Eventually Leah joined them and they shifted to word games.

Cam took the first damage control shift with Makensy, who eventually swayed back to putting up Leah, saying "a vendetta [against Angela] shouldn't stop me from making a $750,000 choice." She then met with Kimo and said she's thinking of using her veto on him. He said "OMG.. is that good for your game though?" (There aren't enough facepalms.) Makensy said she wanted to know what Leah's been saying to people because she contradicted herself a lot to Makensy, saying things like wanting to boot Chelsie while also saying she wants to work with her, Cam, Makensy. And she said she knew Kimo, Rubina, Leah talked a lot last night. He said they did talk a lot last night but it wasn't about the game. And then he said Leah would keep Angela over Makensy, and that she is definitely a threat to keep in there. Kimo had a bottomless bowl of ramen or something and loudly slurped throughout most of their talk. Makensy said if she does this she might lose Leah's jury vote, but she'd gain everyone else's of their current seven, except maybe Angela.

Kimo practically campaigned to stay on the block but that talk ended before he managed to do that, and he went to play pool with Rubina and release ginormous, thunderous belches. Chelsie swooped in to bat cleanup with Makensy, drawing a bath for her and talking her back around to replacing Kimo with Leah, and she'll be sleeping over in HOH to ensure Makensy doesn't backslide. When Makensy replaces Kimo with Leah, she'll effectively tank her own game, unless she can win out from here to the end, which is possible but unlikely. Tomorrow's feeds could be popcorn, unless Leah withdraws and goes into sad isolation mode, which is entirely possible.

Ratings - Toxic Traits edition

Ratings are based on the old saying 'familiarity breeds contempt' - nothing proves that more than Big Brother, both for us out here, where every word or action on feeds inspires cheers and jeers, and elaborately pointless think pieces, but even more so for those stuck together in there, in close quarters with no escape from each other.

Check out the bonus special edition ratings I did for @realityblurred

Noms count: original/renom/twist

Where to begin? Childish edits, lame zings, meatless Diaries with boring comp retells, there are a slew of problems as we all know. But their main toxic trait is disrespect for us, their core audience, the feedsters. That's not new but there's still no reason for it, and it's getting worse. We used to come back from ceremonies when they were still in place and hugging, and we used to come back from comps as they walked in the door. BB Canada always treated feedsters way worse than BB USA, until they cut out feeds altogether, and look how that turned out.

PS Why did Ainsley choose violence? Jankie's murder was brutal and needlessly malicious. He was just a sweet little guy who wanted everyone to have fun.

Won: 1000 orb pickup & decontamination

HOH 2 - Veto 1 - Noms 5/1/0 - HN 1

Angela Murray - 50 51
Twitter - Instagram
Married with kids & grandkids - fan applicant
Real estate agent
Syracuse, UT (orig Long Beach, CA)

Her toxic trait is paranoia coupled with a sense of entitlement. Gamewise, the paranoia and resulting guilt trips are problematic for her roomies, but somehow it's kept her alive. Until now anyway: her time may be up now that Makensy won the veto. Angela's 'I really want to be here, this is my dream' shtick is a very bad angle for her to keep harping on, since it applies to each and every one of them. On the plus side, being safe during Jankie week kept her from spiraling in that nuthouse.

Won: Movie guest

HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 2/0/0 - HN 1

Cam Sullivan-Brown - 25
Twitter - Instagram
Single - recruit
Physical therapist
Bowie, MD

His toxic trait is a lack of awareness about his positioning between Chelsie and the other women he's flirted with. She's tried to explain the situation to him but she hasn't been honest about her ongoing crush on him which complicated everything, so maybe he's just being an ignorant dope by not seeing it. If he's consciously ignoring that part of it, that's on him. Sure, he doesn't owe her anything on that score whatsoever, but it would behoove him to keep her happy if he wants her to take him to the end. His track record indicates he's not likely to be the one doing the taking.

Won: Week 1 mascot/can't compete or vote; Week 5 AI Arena

HOH 2 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/1/0 - HN 0

Chelsie Baham - 27
Instagram
Single - fan applicant
Nonprofit director
Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Her toxic trait is jealousy. Her situation with Cam is complicated by the close proximity they can't escape, and also maybe because according to her, she's only been in one relationship so may not have the tools or experience to be fully honest with him within the context of the game they're playing, so she sticks to the game angle when she hashes things out with him. Gamewise she continues to sway and influence others by planting seeds against this one and that one, and those seeds take root and thrive as she steps back to watch the results and, importantly, she makes a point to stay in good standing with her targets. That's very good BB, but it's hard to explain at the end in order to win over jurors. A lot of people don't like to acknowledge they've been duped into doing someone else's dirty work for them.

Won: Week 1 AI Arena; Movie guest

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 5/0/0 - HN 3

Kimo Apaka - 35 36
Instagram - Instagram 2
Single - fan applicant/occasional feedster
Mattress sales rep
Hilo, HI

His toxic trait is being relaxed and carefree. That's not toxic in life obviously, but gamewise he's not done his share other than to be everyone's pawn. He doesn't even give any arguments against it, let alone put up a fight. That's convenient for whoever the reigning HOH is, but it's hardly game-winning strategy. He's got a very nice singing voice and a great sense of melody and harmony, but this isn't a singing competition.

Won: *Week 9 janky veto

HOH 1 - Veto 1+1* - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 1

Leah Peters - 26
Twitter - Instagram
Single - recruit
VIP cocktail server
Miami, FL (orig Pittsburgh, PA)

Her toxic trait is making herself the center of attention. It's begun wearing on others enough that they've been talking about her taking over conversations and turning topics around to herself. I am aware she's said she's aware she does that, and has struggled with it due to ADHD, but that doesn't stop them from being annoyed about it. To be fair, Jankie World might have been a lot more miserable for them (and us) if she hadn't had HOH safety, as she was able to stay upbeat for most of the week.

Won: Hawaii trip; America's Veto/used Week 3; Weeks 4 & 6 AI Arena; Movie screening

HOH 1 - Veto 2 - Noms 1/1/1 - HN 2

Makensy Manbeck - 22
Twitter - Instagram
Single - recruit
Construction project manager
Houston, TX

Her toxic trait is gliding through the first half of the game in pure ignorance to what was going on, and now thinking she's a mastermind. I don't know if her secret plan to boot Angela will stay secret, since everyone knows about it except Angela and Leah, and this cast is definitely not known for keeping secrets. Adding an HOH and another veto to her resumé this week has painted a bigger target on her, and could add to arguments for her to win at the end. Jurors may have to dive deeper into hypocrisy if they reward Makensy's comp wins, since they all discount Angela's.

Won: Week 7 AI Arena; Movie guest

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 2/0/1 - HN 1

Rubina Bernabe - 35
Instagram
Single - recruit
Event bartender
Los Angeles, CA

Like Kimo, her toxic trait is being relaxed and carefree. Gamewise it's every bit as useless for her as it is for him, but she balances it better by continually making rounds with everyone and checking up on them, particularly when they're in jeopardy, plus she participates in more gametalking than him and is more aware of what's going on. She also doesn't take things too seriously or personally, which Kimo sometimes does. Even when she was on the block against first Kimo and then T'kor, she seemed more concerned about their fates and feelings than her own.

Won: $5,000

2nd juror - 9th evicted - Day 66

She bonded with Kimo and Rubina early on, and the trio quickly became inseparable. That's heartwarming to see but a voting block of three is a big threat in this game. She was seen as their leader but she was beloved by everyone so it took awhile for her to hit the block. When she finally did, she didn't take it well and withdrew back into her self-described shell, and didn't fight hard enough to stay. She got Tucker out on her HOH, but he would have been a useful ally for her if he'd stayed. She and Kimo had excellent reads on the game and their fellow players throughout, but they didn't do much with those reads besides stealth-whisper to each other a lot. In Week 4 they orchestrated a vote flip but later denied doing so, even to each other. She's accomplished a lot in life at a young age and I have no doubt she'll continue to do so, and I wish her well.

Won: Deep Fake HOH/used Week 4; Viewers' nominee Week 3

1st juror - 8th evicted - Day 59

He was a different kind of superfan, having seen episodes and RHAP podcasts, but no feeds. He got the best power this show's ever handed out on Day 2, but blabbed it to two people, so by the time he used it everyone knew and the fun was spoiled. That week he put his ally Cedric on the block and he went home, and later he put his ally Joseph on the block, and he went home. But he was allied with nearly everyone at some point, with F2s all over town, and he blew up alliances like it was a hobby. He continually thought he had everyone in his pocket, unaware his pocket had a huge gaping hole and couldn't hold anything. He shouted in Diary but was light and fun much of the time, even when his game was tanking, so props for that. He fell hard for Leah and made 'googleah' eyes at her, and his 'sick nasty' speech to her was instant inspiration for a million memes.

Joseph Rodriguez - 30 31

7th evicted - Day 52

He brought a lot of unintentional comedy as he deluded himself about his power and influence, and he proclaimed himself 'star of the show' in one solo talk to himself/us. To his credit, his intentional comedy was every bit as good, although his dry sense of humor wasn't appreciated by some. He had a BB birthday that helped him settle in better socially, and he became the eighth hamster to get 24 hours in solitary. Three of those won their seasons but not this time. Joseph had extra chatty, holographic mini-Matt for company, and he said later he used his toilet tent for extracurricular purposes. He apologized to Angela after being brutally honest about her game, and he acknowledged he had some self-work to do about his 'mean streak.' I'll miss him, and wish him nothing but the best. Props to his siblings and friends for running the best hamster-adjacent socials we've ever seen.

6th evicted - Day 45

He demolished two AI Arenas and was the first pre-juror to win three vetos in a row(!), along with an HOH. All that plus his boasting made him most everyone's target but he seemed to relish that spot (along with puzzles and biscuits). He was a welcome change from the usual 'comp beast' type, often showing compassion and empathy, and shedding tears over missing his min pin Ziggi. He fell in love with Rubina, and was often loud, sometimes obnoxious, frequently funny, and he usually owned whatever room he was in, including Diary. His gameplay was reckless and unpredictable, nearly always leaving chaos in his wake. He was that extremely rare breed of hamster: a hard gamer, often a good one (sometimes horrible), while being entertaining. He will be missed.

5th evicted - Day 38

She brought us a number of classic shockfaces for various blindsides, and she said 'this doesn't quite feel like Big Brother' when she was on the block and on her way out. I beg to differ. She confessed her sports dancer secret to Quinn (who told several), her Mrs America secret to Chelsie (who didn't), but I don't think she told anyone she's friends with Aaryn. Thanks to Cam, she provided a fun Michael Jackson side game out here for her last couple weeks. She never tired of saying she wanted a married mother to win this season, so I guess we can assume she'll be rooting from home for Angela.

4th evicted - Day 31

He prepped by watching analysis clips and didn't see any full seasons so he had an unusual balance of BB lore and knowledge. He was a good sport about being sidelined Week 1 and he used that time well, becoming well-liked by all of them. 'Young Cedric' was an ongoing, evolving skit and his own elaborate life stories usually had them and us in stitches. Between expecting volunteers for the block and painting himself into a no-win corner between his various alliances, his HOH was a disaster. Then he volunteered to be a pawn the following week and learned the meaning of 'pawns go home.' He was funny, genuine, wise and mature beyond his years, and he'll be missed.

He adopted Matt and lost him fast, then he won a veto, and the rest of the time he said he wanted to quit. He rallied a bit at the end when he teamed up with Cedric and Tucker, adding Cam when he walked in on them, but that got blown up immediately. He mostly sat by himself and shouted out his family, or he complained to others about missing them, so they sent him back to them.

2nd evicted - Day 17

She's a legit chef/caterer and ran that into the ground, along with sprinkling edible glitter on everyone's food whether they wanted it or not. Tucker's rants about her were an early highlight, and she crumbled after Angela mocked her walk and called her a twit. Props for winning the first veto (rare for a woman), but she wasn't cut out for this setting. Most of that was simply being a bad roommate: she made (and wasted) food they didn't want, dabbed non-consensual essential oil on her roomies' pillows, propped filthy feet on food surfaces, and she never tired of telling everyone what a special and unique person she was.

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/1 - HN 0

Tech sales rep
Roswell, GA (orig Loganvilla, GA)

1st evicted - Day 10

He filled the pretty boy/brojock casting slot perfectly but didn't like Angela pointing that out openly and immediately. He was adamant about not being 'that guy' and to his credit, he did talk a lot against toxic masculinity. He cried after Angela yelled at him, but went out in high spirits with ginormous smiles for Julie.

Won: Control of the game

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0

Ainsley/AInsley - 24
Surf shop worker
San Diego, CA

She lost two votes to join as #17 so reverted to her robotic persona aka Artificial Intelligence Network Self-Learning Entity, and became a comp host.

GAME TWISTS

-First and second move-in groups of eight voted against letting Ainsley join as 17th player, and each group played comps based on their votes.

-Losers Cedric, Chelsie were Week 1 mascots: couldn't compete for HOH or veto, couldn't vote, could be nominated.

-Makensy won America's Veto: once in first four weeks, she can remove someone from the block and viewers will instant-vote the replacement. She used it Week 3 after she went up as veto renom.

-Quinn won Deep Fake HOH: once in first four weeks, the HOH's AI avatar will announce noms Quinn secretly picked, and he can spread misinfo and rumors via that fake avatar. He used it Week 4 to take over Angela's 2nd HOH (everyone knew about it).

-Weeks 1 thru 7: HOH picked three nominees, and veto renom if applicable. The three competed live in AI Arena before the vote, and the winner came off the block.

-Week 6: Viewer vote to pick someone for AI Instigator (Tucker), who could spread rumors via others' AI avatars. A second vote determined how much cash he won ($20k).

-Week 9: Jankie World: everyone lived outside in a carnival setting, with carnival food and periodic signals to sing and dance.
