Taylor talked about making a slip 'n slide. Maybe the grill will arrive and take out four or five of them. Dee told Angela she's purposefully giving Barrett a bad week, adding "this is gameplay, I'm gonna make sure he is skurrred!" And Dee told Devens her name for Barrett is Stickbug, "like in Fiji," reminding him of some inside joke. Dee keeps being super bitter about the three of them being on the block but if someone else joins in on that (Angela's specialty), Dee reins it back in to say it's only game, not personal, making herself appear to be the bigger person. Meanwhile Barrett's not bothered either way. He admitted to having a crush on Mallory when Drew asked, which was interesting timing since Barrett and Melody have been cuddled up together every night lately, often with Drew present. Angela pushed to Yash that they should work together going forward, along with Dee, Melody, Taylor, and Angela seemed to believe that would actually happen. As expected, Yash did not use his veto, so the trio of vets will finally be broken up on Thursday - likely with Devens' exit, but that could change by then. Melody cussed, ranted, and vented to mom afterwards on her private phone line, annoyed at the vets for the nominee speeches they worked on this morning (that aren't even on the show), and how they're mad because Barrett did to them what they've been doing to everyone else. And she was especially annoyed at Drew, since the Cease Fire rookies had talked about poking fun at the vets by wearing oven mitt puppets to the veto meeting, but Drew said not to. She acknowledged a lot of her current mood was due to starving on slop, and said she's "just being dramatic per fucking usual." Drew came in at one point asking if she's mad at him? She said "I'm on the phone" as one does, but it was pretty funny in this case. He tried to stress the two of them are "more locked in than ever" which she denied, and he asked if he's supposed to spit on the vets when they walk by? Of course not. When he left, she said she doesn't know how much longer she can put up with him. He picked it up again when she went back downstairs but she wasn't having it, saying if it was anyone but Drew's beloved vets, he'd be all for the oven mitts gag. He said "I hate that I like you more than anyone else in this house" and she replied "yah, you think so?!" Afternoon ranged from relatively quiet to silent, with occasional outbursts of salty resentment and sabotage. In the yard, Devens said to Dee, Taylor, Yash that Barrett, Drew, Melody were "just having a little meeting" in HOH and he said they were going "oh no, we just got called out during the veto meeting!" But Barrett was sitting alone in the gym at the time, silently, Melody had just been called to Diary, and Drew rejoined the yard minutes later. Dee told Taylor she's going to make Barrett "regret this decision for the rest of his life" (really?) and she said she'd been "riding with that guy since Day 2." I don't know if Taylor knew that or not, or if it matters. The yard remained open all afternoon and the grill was not installed, so their Labor Day party fare will probably be takeout again. Some years they've gotten cornhole and Jenga at this point but these guys have had cornhole all along, not knowing how good they've had it - I kid, I kid. Drew told Dee and Devens that he'd saved them from an oven mitts disaster, talking like they were live grenades rather than ordinary oven mitts. Feeds were down from around 6pm to 8.40pm for their party. They had booze and music, brisket, pulled pork, tri-tip, chicken, BBQ sauces, potato salad, corn, cole slaw, cornbread, mac 'n cheese, and they were mostly stuffed and mostly quiet. There was no sign of a slip 'n slide, or much happiness at all. Barrett was alone in HOH, mostly quiet, and he seemed more depressed than tipsy to me. Between long silences, he told us "it's been fun being HOH, it's been fun destroying a final five alliance that could have gotten to final five" but he added he didn't want to get there that way. And he said he feels he's played on a purely emotional level the past few weeks, working to get out Drew, Haley, Devens, and now the three vets. Outside, Melody and Drew sat quietly in the hot tub, Taylor did a few perfect cartwheels and a flip and got a "stop that," Angela laid down on a lounger, and Devens had a hammock dump. Hopefully they had a fun party because other than Taylor's gymnastics, the after-party was miserable.Yash hung out in HOH with Barrett for awhile, Taylor joined, Barrett was called to Diary, and Yash and Taylor formalized their F2. They'll be locked inside again in the morning, so they and we have more long days ahead. If you missed what came before, click 'previous Hamsterwatch episode' up top and/or use my season directory.
