Chelsie and Makensy woke up for the last morning in the HOH room, and Cam or Rubina woke up for the last time in the habitat (probably Rubina). The ladies were excited to have finally gotten manicure kits they've been requesting for weeks. Makensy was looking forward to the fancy meal tonight that Chelsie has told her about, but I didn't hear that any of them expecting Part 1 will also happen tonight. Looking back, feeds didn't come back on this night last year til 3.30am. That fourth place eviction show began at 10pm so the equivalent for tonight's 8pm show would be 1.30am. The two seasons before that, feeds came back on this night at 11pm and 11.37pm. A lot depends on how long they go for Part 1, which is typically endurance. The show picked up at the cliffhung veto comp that felt like it happened a year ago, with Makensy winning, as we knew. From there we saw Kimo arrive at the jury house and they saw their comics when that veto comp was played for them. Jag joined Julie onstage to say stuff about the season but I kind of wandered off for that (sorry), except to hear him ask Julie if she's seen these houseguests? Cam made a sandwich for a fluff segment, which was an odd choice. Yes, that sandwich was a big deal for him, but he's done far funnier stuff, often, and they've mostly overlooked it. The week-long delay waiting for Rubina to pitch to Makensy about her F3 choice could have been worked up into a fun/funny segment leading into that pitch, but no. Julie showed a promo card for the American Red Cross urging donations to help victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. That was a very pleasant surprise and I applaud them for it. Donate online or text HURRICANES to 90999 to do your bit. They are always there when needed for disasters large or small - it could be you needing their help next time. I hope CBS and/or Paramount is also making a large donation to supplement our individual small ones. Rubina's pitch was finally shown, along with one of Cam's three pitches. Then we were live again, Makensy used her veto on herself, and Rubina landed on the block by default. She and Cam gave their speeches/pleas to Makensy, and Julie asked Cam "no shoutout for your dawgs at the crib?" which made him and the others howl. Makensy then gave a speech for no apparent reason (stop that) and she evicted Rubina, as expected. She went out gracefully with smiles, also as expected, but she did seem a little disappointed and surprised in her sit-down with Julie. And she was a little embarrassed by Julie asking about her and Tucker, although she said she expected the question. She has no idea how closely he's been following her BB journey since his eviction, and I know she'll be touched to find out. She was surprised by Makensy's farewell saying Rubina was a big threat to her for the win, but we know Makensy was just parroting Chelsie's sermons about that. Julie told them they'd be starting the final HOH comp tonight, and she told us tomorrow's clips show would include Derrick (which we already knew), and that Taylor would be the new host for the jury roundtable on the finale (which we also already knew). She said applications for next season are open, and the viewer favorite poll was also opened: voting link for that is on my left sidebar. The final three toasted the traditional champagne as the credits rolled, after Makensy sprayed it all over the kitchen opening it. Feeds came back at 11.38pm. All three were slimed and mostly silent, and they seemed grouchy. Cam kind of melted into the towel rack, which could have been his usual post-comp losing gloom or perhaps silent triumph? He showered, and eventually Makensy muttered to herself "nothing, I can do nothing." A bit later Chelsie faced us in her favorite chisme camera to let us know she'd won by whispering "yeah! Let's freaking go! Your girl came through!" So congrats to her for another win on her resumé and a pass to Part 3 live on Sunday's finale. She'll face the winner of Part 2, which Cam and Makensy will do tomorrow. She poured a glass of leftover champagne and put it in the fridge to chill. Cam asked if that's what she was doing, and she grinned and said yep. When Cam was called to Diary, Chelsie and Makensy talked a bit about the comp: they had an overhead bar to hold on to, so maybe something similar to BB20 jet packs or BB16 hang gliders, with intermittent extra challenges, and of course periodic slime. They received their instructions via fax machine, so my earlier guess/joke about Ainsley being deactivated may have been right? Partially anyway, heh. Makensy dropped first. Day 88 - Friday - October 11, 2024After a huge and late night, the final three were woken up around 7.20am. It's a brutal turnaround but it's their last official activity until they go live to wrap it all up Sunday. And the rush is typical at this stage since the editors have a very lot to whittle down into bite-size pieces for Sunday's finale. Cam and Chelsie puttered around and Makensy rested until Cam and Makensy were called to play Part 2. The adoptable anipals arrived on our feeds for probably the last time at 9.17am. Part 2 is usually an elaborate comp but with only two players, it shouldn't take too long. (Famous last words, maybe.) Big ups and thanks to Rancho Coastal Humane Society for once again supplying the puppies, kitties, and bunnies to keep us amused during comps and ceremonies this season. Visit them in SoCal or your local shelter to find your next best friend: they're the real heroes here. While we wait, please to enjoy the season recap I did for @realityblurred. All things considered, it was a pretty good season, especially for those of us who remember it's ultimately just a TV show and shouldn't be taken too seriously by those who aren't playing it. Feeds came back at 11.40am and Makensy won Part 2, surprising nobody. Cam didn't seem as disappointed as with his recent losses, and he joked along with Chelsie and Makensy about his crappy resumé, as well as for his "need for affection" in there and related head-petting sessions. The comp was a puzzle where they had to climb up and down stairs to slide pieces into their proper slots, involving neurons, wires, and leaks, with a goal to kill Ainsley. They were all wearing black outfits, including Chelsie so maybe she hosted, and Cam and Makensy had what looked like safety harness vests. Apparently Cam had a piece wrong at the base that he didn't realize, or fix, so had no chance of finishing the puzzle correctly. They poured some more champagne and Chelsie and Makensy had a quick, quiet celebration when Cam stepped away. Chelsie boosted up Makensy for her win, and they toasted to being the "first" women's F2 (they'd actually be the fifth), and Makensy said she thinks she might be the youngest finalist ever (sorry again: Daniele D was 21, and Alison, Jordan, and Morgan were all 22 like Makensy). Chelsie may know some or all of that and just keeps shmoozing Makensy about it, along with shmoozing Makensy about taking her to finals if the choice is hers. They settled in for well-deserved naps, but Chelsie got up soon after to work on her answers for the jury questions. The season review clips show was pretty fun. The three of them introducing whichever clips had been decided for them to remember over dinner wasn't overbearing, there was a good selection of comedy and out-takes, and the season review items were presented in a more casual format than many years. They had a long-overdue Joseph segment, and they added some fun graphics like episode cards for The Young Cedric Show and this one, combining Brooklyn's conspiracy theories that we never went to the moon along with her peculiar thoughts about hamsters. (Ironic.) And they included Diary reactions to those items along with a lot of others, and they didn't rehash the things that have already been overdone like Angela's "crazy eyes" rant. See Links of the Day below for a thread listing the various segments in case you want to see some bits without watching the whole show: I know it's not a popular episode for many. Derrick appeared on their monitor after dinner to say the government contacted him to take out Ainsley but she's too powerful, so our trio needed to get inside and destroy her power source. After they were suited up, their comp instructions printed out for them live which was a cute touch, if unnecessary. They strapped into tilting, swirling apparatus that was indeed similar to Part 1 on BB16 and BB20, and were told they'd get attacked by Ainsley's evil robot army. That's probably where the slime came from, but I don't think they got any of that on this episode. It wasn't that long ago Ainsley had the hamsters attack evil robots in a veto comp, which just goes to show you how much her storyline reversed. The rest of that comp, today's Part 2, and live Part 3 will be on Sunday's finale along with jury roundtable (taping tonight), and all the rest. But you knew that already. Back to feeds, they had food delivered again, Mexican takeout rather than last night's fancy feast. They were pretty quiet, Makensy went to nap, and Chelsie asked Cam how he thinks she's set up for the jury. He said he thinks she's good to win against either him or Makensy, and he acknowledged either of them will easily win against him. He said he'd just make his speech funny if he gets to finals, telling the jurors he knows they won't vote for him so let's just have fun tonight. When asked, Chelsie said she'll say her biggest move was getting Makensy to put up Leah but earlier to herself/us, she said that was getting Makensy to boot Rubina. Chelsie told him she will "try her best" to win Part 3 and take him to the end, and he said he thinks Makensy will take Chelsie. Adding both of those together makes me wonder if Chelsie might throw Part 3. I agree Makensy probably will (foolishly) take her, and Chelsie probably will win against either of them but wow, throwing at this stage would be risky AF. They got to bantering back and forth like they used to, and it was good to see after these last few tricky weeks when everyone's been walking a tightrope. They bantered about their early flirting, Cam and Leah flirting, and they wondered about future chances of coupledom for Tucker/Rubina and Quinn/Leah. All was quiet by 10.30pm, maybe for a few hours or maybe for the night. Day 89 - Saturday - October 12, 2024Hurry up and wait describes the last couple weeks perfectly. They had to speed up the F4 noms and veto comp, only to then sit around the rest of that week, and this week they had to do their memories meal plus Parts 1 and 2 in less than 18 hours. Only to sit around and wait some more for their biggest day tomorrow. Some of that is typical for any season but The Summit booting our little show off the Wednesday schedule plus a Sunday finale contributed this year. Evergreen reminder: everything revolves around the TV episodes. This morning they played some cards, Chelsie packed while the other two napped nearby, and then she studied comps with Q-tips while also figuring out the ratio of her wins to total comps played compared to Makensy's, for her speech or jury questions. Always working.More later THANK YOU to everyone who still visits the site, and to my Patreon subscribers who get my daily writeups via email, and to my supporters via Ko-fi - I couldn't do this without you guys!
