A housekeeping item: the HOH comp was played in pairs, which had some repercussions but I don't have the details to untangle exactly what. And dancing was involved so maybe line dancing, with the western costumes. Devens held meetings after his room cleared out last night. He had said he might put up three women (Lyric, Melody, and LaLa or Mallory, with Melody his target), but that changed to a plan pitched by Angela of Jason, Lyric, Melody, with Rome as the target via the backdoor. I know! Expect the you-know-what. Rome did say during his one-on-one Devens could put him up as a pawn if he needs to. (If we have another volunteer season, what are we even doing?)A mega alliance was formed at nearly 5am in HOH, made up of Angela, Barrett, Chuk, Dee, Devens, Drew, Haley, Kamu, and they called themselves the Tool Shed. Apparently Drew said he'd always hoped to have an alliance called that. Rome tried to join them in the room but they wouldn't let him in, reminiscent of Nicole A being locked out on BB22, or Danielle being locked out on BB7 and endlessly ding-donging the doorbell. And they laughed about it. This morning brought apology tours from both Angela and Rome. Her rounds were for those who weren't included in the big HOH meeting, and his were for being weird about being ignored, and they finally wrapped up by apologizing to each other. Jason told Taylor they need to win one of the powers being voted on, with pandering to us for votes. (That effort was wasted as the first vote closed this morning and the second doesn't open til Sunday night.) Also, Jason confessed to Rome at some point that he'd actually been on Drag Race, rather than not making it past auditions as he'd told them all previously. They started cycling everyone through the Time Capsule challenge room, which was in the downstairs comp space, and they apparently accessed it via Diary's back door (the Chima door). It was done up like a vault, ready to dole out a weekly power or punishment from BB's past. The first will surely go to Angela, Dee, or Devens as they're the familiar faces from the past, and they've also had the most camera time so far. Jason also has a great shot at one since Salina's got a lot fans, but probably not til the fourth week. The Littles (Lyric/Mallory/Melody) compared notes with various others, and there was some resentment about realizing they're on the outs. Lyric was more pragmatic about it, giving us a glimpse of her inner lawyer, telling Jason "this is Big Brother, if you don't go on the block, if you don't have to fight to stay here, what are you doing?" And she told Rome she'd warned him "that alliance" was a thing three days ago, which he acknowledged, and then he said "baby, you just turn me on, whoo, grrrr" as they moved on to clinch and slurp. (Pic is from last night's pantry makeout, which I mentioned here but forgot to add the screencap.) Angela was the first to win the Time Capsule vote, unsurprisingly, where she had a repeat of her first meme-worthy moment from BB26, the spinny chair comp. It sounded like she had to push a button to land on power or punishment, so a 50/50 crapshoot. She lost and is now in Vince's hard-boiled detEGGtive suit for a week (not his actual suit obviously), and her magnifying glass is a lot bigger than his was. She had fun with it at first, reveling in telling the story and the humor of it all, but she came up with complaints soon enough, starting with how hot the suit was. And she said she'll get a sleep version, like Vince did. Jason had a long, solo sob/cry, maybe hurt that he didn't win the first vote, maybe dread of being nominated? Both? He was called to Diary where they love to exploit tears. Afterward Rome gave him a peptalk which was nice to see, and he said he'll go after Angela and "make her cry" if she comes for his people.Drew told Four Seasons about the HOH meeting last night, saying he was just a number for them. Rome asked who ran the meeting and Drew said "mostly the egg." And Drew told Melody that Rome told Devens about Four Seasons. Feeds were down two hours for noms but when they came back, the ceremony was still underway? Kind of. Angela Egg and Jason were screaming at each other, Devens said Rome had given him six names to keep safe and Devens told him to narrow it down, and he had. Melody, Lyric, Jason pics were on the nominations screen and Devens finally said "this nomination ceremony is adjourned." Screaming, crying carried on with Rome yelling that Haley's an "unbearable human being" and LaLa loudly sob-crying in various rooms. Angela Egg and Jason kind of apologized to each other, with Jason admitting he's a messy bitch, and Angela Egg said "messy bitch, don't do that!" in a teary, jokey voice. Devens later told Angela Egg he thought she was faking shock at his speech calling out Rome's cut list, but quickly realized it was real, and he said he didn't want anyone to feel personally hurt. And Devens told us he'd wanted to throw the house into chaos, "what do you think? That was a lot, whew." Rome told a still-crying LaLa he loves her "more than anyone in this house" but he was told he couldn't give her a heads-up about the speech. LaLa told someone - I'm not sure who - that she thought she was Rome's number one? He's entwined with Lyric most of the time, but maybe he's convincing in person. Angela Egg further consoled LaLa and said "I didn't want to have you in my crossfire things." (I do love her twisted phrases.) And she pitched a vague let's-work-together deal. (I'd call them AngeLaLa if they make that happen.) Rome announced he's done being The Thinker, and Melody started calling him Green Lantern. Devens and Dee did a happy celebration dance in HOH because successful chaos happened but they were still clear of any blame, but Devens added he doesn't like it when things get personal, and they did, for a minute anyway. Jason and Rome spent a long time sadly complaining and blanketing on the Have-not bed-wheel, followed by Lyric crying to Rome about their love story's impending tragic end. She spoonfed him slop like the injured baby bird he was, and he whispered slop nothings to her about showing up to finale in a suit, ready to take her on a real date, and talking like every tough-guy-turned-sensitive in every movie ever made, and announcing how noble he is. And then he said the I love you that they postponed last night. Angela Egg had some solo misery time in the pantry, then rolled her wheelie-stool out to the kitchen where she complained about how awful, hot, heavy, and miserable her egg suit is, seven hours after she went into it. BB called her to the pantry soon after that and she got her egg jammies, and took to her bed in them, just to be free of the outer shell. Suddenly Rome was hyperventilating, can't-catch-a-breath cry-sobbing to LaLa, who held and comforted him like a baby, and it went on for a very, very long time because he and Lyric broke up. Kamu asked Lyric "how's he doing?" and she said "he's fine" when he clearly was light years away from fine, and she talked with Kamu and various others about playing without him. But wait, Drew told Kamu not to fall for it, as it was a fake breakup Lyric and Rome were staging to get the bull's eye off of them. Rome went on a lengthy tragic tour, crying to whoever would stop to comfort him, which was a lot of them, but not Taylor. After LaLa's massive breakdown after the noms fiasco because Rome was willing to cut her loose, I wonder how she'll take learning this was staged, and if Rome has thought of that, or if he cares. I will admit both Rome and Lyric gave Emmy-worthy performances. Devens turned off his light and went to bed after hearing Rome's (literal) sob story, and he told us "I'm not their peer, I'm their dad, I'm America's dad.. it's actually really rewarding, they're sweet kids." Day 10 - Thursday - July 16, 2026 Not much changed as of this morning since my late update last night: Ashley's still likely to meet Julie if she's up against either Taylor or Yash, and Yash will leave over Taylor. Still subject to change of course, but there wasn't a huge amount of gametalk or vote chat this morning so it seems pretty set. Jason did approach Dee to suggest they boot Yash if he's an option, and Dee played along as he laid out Reasons. (If we do end up with a Taylor vs Yash vote, Jason will think he did something.) Before that, Jason and Angela shared a long good morning hug. We know he's playing her emotionally and we know she knows that, but these two could form a legit personal bond at this rate, despite all that, and I hope they do. On the show, the narrator's recap went back to Rachel in the volcano, and the catch-up segments laid out the big stories of the week, mostly Angela's paranoia and Ashley needlessly messing up her game (though she didn't have much game to mess up). Julie said tonight's evictee won't have a chance to time travel back into the game, so pack up your Battle Back hopes, at least for now. (A revival is unlikely with such a big cast anyway.) Julie started Ashley, Taylor, Yash on their Block Buster which was as per her demo and similar to the very first AI Arena comp back on BB26. They had two minutes to study three screens with montages of hamsters with hairstyles from different eras - a Deathrace tribute? HA HA no. They had to guess who appeared most, and all three were back to their podiums before time up. Taylor and Ashley both guessed Devens, and Yash won by correctly guessing Mallory. They did the usual victor-plus-losers re-entry down the stairs and into the living room, but Julie finally gave up on telling them to strategize for two minutes. Instead it was hugs all around with a lot of close-ups, and casual tv-onlies probably wondered who half of them are. Ashley and Taylor gave their speeches, and Ashley was evicted 14-0. After her QA, Julie told the rest of them about the Time Capsule vote underway and that it would continue for weeks, so now we'll be sure to have them pandering to us for votes, and I feel sick. Feeds were announced as coming back "after every show" in the pre-season Broveal press release, including the new Youtube stream, but that was a lie: Youtube had two hours of post-show adoptable anipals, and we had more. Feeds finally came back around 9.45pm. Devens won the HOH. It was the 1990s, the comp was played in elimination rounds, and they were all dressed in cowboy western wear. Devens joked with Barrett he'd put him up as a pawn so people don't think they're close, and I think he made the same joke with Drew. He told Haley she's got nothing to worry about, partly because she finished second in the comp. And he said he doesn't want to repeat any noms from the week just ended so Taylor, Mallory, Yash should be safe, and he said he wanted to go to bed at 10pm but oops, Thursdays tend to run later than that, often by a lot. Apparently Drew threw the comp, noticeably to some, and Rome told Lyric he also threw it. Feeds went away for lengthy blocks again, with more time off than on. Have-nots were picked, and sounded mostly if not completely voluntary: Barrett, Jason, Kamu, Lyric, Rome will be in the dungeon. Rome said Lyric was a "stupid little idiot who's too nice all the time" because she volunteered. Rome suggested pitching to Devens a group with Drew, Lyric, Melody, likely in a bid to save himself and them from the block. He did that later, including telling Devens about Four Seasons by name. Rome and Lyric said they want to say I love you to each other, but they're holding off a bit longer for that. Later they made out on the pantry island because they won't be able to bed-snuggle when sharing the Have-not catherine wheel with three others, and they wished one of them had won HOH so they could share that room, and they said they heard there's no cameras in the HOH shower. And Rome called for a moment of silence over spaghetti in memory of Ashley. Devens' noms plans will become clear sooner or later, but he told Dee he might have "no choice" but to put up three women. (He named various of the women as problems during the week, so this didn't surprise me.) And he knows Jason is gunning for the three vets, so he could also be a contender or a renom. Devens got his room around 12.20am. The WHO WANTS TO SEE hollering was withheld from us for some reason (I'm not complaining about that) as well as the initial oohs and ahhs over the photos. He got the now-usual huge assortment of food items, along with more glasses(!) and various everything else. Everyone sat down to hear the letter, like they do, but he wouldn't read it out loud because he knew he'd fall apart and didn't want to do that. I'll flesh out the noms plans tomorrow when they've become clear. Feeds could be down a very long time tomorrow if they're all sent one at a time to disguise whoever wins the Time Capsule vote and does the challenge? I don't know.If you missed what came before, click 'previous Hamsterwatch episode' up top and/or use my season directory.
