Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 87 - Thursday - October 10, 2024

The longest week finally came to a close. Chelsie and Makensy woke up for the last morning in the HOH room, and Cam or Rubina woke up for the last time in the habitat (probably Rubina). The ladies were excited to have finally gotten manicure kits they've been requesting for weeks. Makensy was looking forward to the fancy meal tonight that Chelsie has told her about, but I didn't hear that any of them expecting Part 1 will also happen tonight. Looking back, feeds didn't come back on this night last year til 3.30am. That fourth place eviction show began at 10pm so the equivalent for tonight's 8pm show would be 1.30am. The two seasons before that, feeds came back on this night at 11pm and 11.37pm. A lot depends on how long they go for Part 1, which is typically endurance.

The show picked up at the cliffhung veto comp that felt like it happened a year ago, with Makensy winning, as we knew. From there we saw Kimo arrive at the jury house and they saw their comics when that veto comp was played for them. Jag joined Julie onstage to say stuff about the season but I kind of wandered off for that (sorry), except to hear him ask Julie if she's seen these houseguests? Cam made a sandwich for a fluff segment, which was an odd choice. Yes, that sandwich was a big deal for him, but he's done far funnier stuff, often, and they've mostly overlooked it. The week-long delay waiting for Rubina to pitch to Makensy about her F3 choice could have been worked up into a fun/funny segment leading into that pitch, but no.

Julie showed a promo card for the American Red Cross urging donations to help victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. That was a very pleasant surprise and I applaud them for it. Donate online or text HURRICANES to 90999 to do your bit. They are always there when needed for disasters large or small - it could be you needing their help next time. I hope CBS and/or Paramount is also making a large donation to supplement our individual small ones.

Rubina's pitch was finally shown, along with one of Cam's three pitches. Then we were live again, Makensy used her veto on herself, and Rubina landed on the block by default. She and Cam gave their speeches/pleas to Makensy, and Julie asked Cam "no shoutout for your dawgs at the crib?" which made him and the others howl. Makensy then gave a speech for no apparent reason (stop that) and she evicted Rubina, as expected. She went out gracefully with smiles, also as expected, but she did seem a little disappointed and surprised in her sit-down with Julie. And she was a little embarrassed by Julie asking about her and Tucker, although she said she expected the question. She has no idea how closely he's been following her BB journey since his eviction, and I know she'll be touched to find out. She was surprised by Makensy's farewell saying Rubina was a big threat to her for the win, but we know Makensy was just parroting Chelsie's sermons about that.

Julie told them they'd be starting the final HOH comp tonight, and she told us tomorrow's clips show would include Derrick (which we already knew), and that Taylor would be the new host for the jury roundtable on the finale (which we also already knew). She said applications for next season are open, and the viewer favorite poll was also opened: voting link for that is on my left sidebar. The final three toasted the traditional champagne as the credits rolled, after Makensy sprayed it all over the kitchen opening it.

Feeds came back at 11.38pm. All three were slimed and mostly silent, and they seemed grouchy. Cam kind of melted into the towel rack, which could have been his usual post-comp losing gloom or perhaps silent triumph? He showered, and eventually Makensy muttered to herself "nothing, I can do nothing." A bit later Chelsie faced us in her favorite chisme camera to let us know she'd won by whispering "yeah! Let's freaking go! Your girl came through!" So congrats to her for another win on her resumé and a pass to Part 3 live on Sunday's finale. She'll face the winner of Part 2, which Cam and Makensy will do tomorrow. She poured a glass of leftover champagne and put it in the fridge to chill. Cam asked if that's what she was doing, and she grinned and said yep. When Cam was called to Diary, Chelsie and Makensy talked a bit about the comp: they had an overhead bar to hold on to, so maybe something similar to BB20 jet packs or BB16 hang gliders, with intermittent extra challenges, and of course periodic slime. They received their instructions via fax machine, so my earlier guess/joke about Ainsley being deactivated may have been right? Partially anyway, heh. Makensy dropped first.

Day 88 - Friday - October 11, 2024

After a huge and late night, the final three were woken up around 7.20am. It's a brutal turnaround but it's their last official activity until they go live to wrap it all up Sunday. And the rush is typical at this stage since the editors have a very lot to whittle down into bite-size pieces for Sunday's finale. Cam and Chelsie puttered around and Makensy rested until Cam and Makensy were called to play Part 2. The adoptable anipals arrived on our feeds for probably the last time at 9.17am. Part 2 is usually an elaborate comp but with only two players, it shouldn't take too long. (Famous last words, maybe.) Big ups and thanks to Rancho Coastal Humane Society for once again supplying the puppies, kitties, and bunnies to keep us amused during comps and ceremonies this season. Visit them in SoCal or your local shelter to find your next best friend: they're the real heroes here.

While we wait, please to enjoy the season recap I did for @realityblurred. All things considered, it was a pretty good season, especially for those of us who remember it's ultimately just a TV show and shouldn't be taken too seriously by those who aren't playing it.

Feeds came back at 11.40am and Makensy won Part 2, surprising nobody. Cam didn't seem as disappointed as with his recent losses, and he joked along with Chelsie and Makensy about his crappy resumé, as well as for his "need for affection" in there and related head-petting sessions. The comp was a puzzle where they had to climb up and down stairs to slide pieces into their proper slots, involving neurons, wires, and leaks, with a goal to kill Ainsley. They were all wearing black outfits, including Chelsie so maybe she hosted, and Cam and Makensy had what looked like safety harness vests. Apparently Cam had a piece wrong at the base that he didn't realize, or fix, so had no chance of finishing the puzzle correctly. They poured some more champagne and Chelsie and Makensy had a quick, quiet celebration when Cam stepped away. Chelsie boosted up Makensy for her win, and they toasted to being the "first" women's F2 (they'd actually be the fifth), and Makensy said she thinks she might be the youngest finalist ever (sorry again: Daniele D was 21, and Alison, Jordan, and Morgan were all 22 like Makensy). Chelsie may know some or all of that and just keeps shmoozing Makensy about it, along with shmoozing Makensy about taking her to finals if the choice is hers. They settled in for well-deserved naps, but Chelsie got up soon after to work on her answers for the jury questions.

The season review clips show was pretty fun. The three of them introducing whichever clips had been decided for them to remember over dinner wasn't overbearing, there was a good selection of comedy and out-takes, and the season review items were presented in a more casual format than many years. They had a long-overdue Joseph segment, and they added some fun graphics like episode cards for The Young Cedric Show and this one, combining Brooklyn's conspiracy theories that we never went to the moon along with her peculiar thoughts about hamsters. (Ironic.) And they included Diary reactions to those items along with a lot of others, and they didn't rehash the things that have already been overdone like Angela's "crazy eyes" rant. See Links of the Day below for a thread listing the various segments in case you want to see some bits without watching the whole show: I know it's not a popular episode for many.

Derrick appeared on their monitor after dinner to say the government contacted him to take out Ainsley but she's too powerful, so our trio needed to get inside and destroy her power source. After they were suited up, their comp instructions printed out for them live which was a cute touch, if unnecessary. They strapped into tilting, swirling apparatus that was indeed similar to Part 1 on BB16 and BB20, and were told they'd get attacked by Ainsley's evil robot army. That's probably where the slime came from, but I don't think they got any of that on this episode. It wasn't that long ago Ainsley had the hamsters attack evil robots in a veto comp, which just goes to show you how much her storyline reversed. The rest of that comp, today's Part 2, and live Part 3 will be on Sunday's finale along with jury roundtable (taping tonight), and all the rest. But you knew that already.

Back to feeds, they had food delivered again, Mexican takeout rather than last night's fancy feast. They were pretty quiet, Makensy went to nap, and Chelsie asked Cam how he thinks she's set up for the jury. He said he thinks she's good to win against either him or Makensy, and he acknowledged either of them will easily win against him. He said he'd just make his speech funny if he gets to finals, telling the jurors he knows they won't vote for him so let's just have fun tonight. When asked, Chelsie said she'll say her biggest move was getting Makensy to put up Leah but earlier to herself/us, she said that was getting Makensy to boot Rubina. Chelsie told him she will "try her best" to win Part 3 and take him to the end, and he said he thinks Makensy will take Chelsie. Adding both of those together makes me wonder if Chelsie might throw Part 3. I agree Makensy probably will (foolishly) take her, and Chelsie probably will win against either of them but wow, throwing at this stage would be risky AF. They got to bantering back and forth like they used to, and it was good to see after these last few tricky weeks when everyone's been walking a tightrope. They bantered about their early flirting, Cam and Leah flirting, and they wondered about future chances of coupledom for Tucker/Rubina and Quinn/Leah.

All was quiet by 10.30pm, maybe for a few hours or maybe for the night.

Day 89 - Saturday - October 12, 2024

Hurry up and wait describes the last couple weeks perfectly. They had to speed up the F4 noms and veto comp, only to then sit around the rest of that week, and this week they had to do their memories meal plus Parts 1 and 2 in less than 18 hours. Only to sit around and wait some more for their biggest day tomorrow. Some of that is typical for any season but The Summit booting our little show off the Wednesday schedule plus a Sunday finale contributed this year. Evergreen reminder: everything revolves around the TV episodes. This morning they played some cards, Chelsie packed while the other two napped nearby, and then she studied comps with Q-tips while also figuring out the ratio of her wins to total comps played compared to Makensy's, for her speech or jury questions. Always working.

More later

5th juror - 12th evicted - Day 80

Definitely one of the nicest hamsters in this cast, he was well-liked by virtually all of them and most viewers as well (not counting his noisy eating habits and thunderous belches). He wrote several BB songs in there and sang them a lot, and he has a good singing voice, but eventually it got to be a bit much. Gamewise he spent a lot of time in the first half in marathon whisper sessions with T'kor, and they generally had very good reads, but they rarely did much with that knowledge. He saved himself in the first AI Arena but then didn't do much until he won the high pressure double eviction veto. He became a perma-pawn along with Angela and Rubina, and he didn't put up any fight about those nominations, or even campaign some weeks. But he lived his dream of being on the show, and he formed super tight bonds with T'kor and Rubina that will likely last a very long time.

4th juror - 11th evicted - Day 73

Easily the co-star of the season, alongside Tucker (for different reasons), but she lasted a lot longer than he did. She won two HOHs and a veto, she was on the block seven times, and others veto'd her off it an unprecedented three times. She marched back and forth in the yard overnight for 9.5 hours, including a lot of full goop treatments, and she held up a marshmallow skewer overnight for 9.75 hours. That resumé would win many seasons, but a lot of them didn't like her. She added layers of drama, tantrums, self-deprecating humor, paranoia, kindness, a whole lot of crying, and a game strategy that mostly consisted of 'I want to be here.' She was often loyal and often not, and she was both a pleasure and a chore to watch, depending on the day, and she polarized viewers like few others. She proved that the older woman slot in the casting formula doesn't have to be a doomed early boot, or a dud.

HOH 1 - Veto 1+1* - Noms 0/1/0 - HN 1

Leah Peters - 26
Twitter - Instagram
Single - recruit
VIP cocktail server
Miami, FL (orig Pittsburgh, PA)

3rd juror - 10th evicted - Day 73

She was a social chameleon and she wasn't in many real alliances, but she had F2s (or close enough) with Lisa, Kenney, Quinn, Brooklyn, Joseph, Makensy, and Angela. She was often fun, often annoying, and a unique personality that the edits unfortunately overlooked for the first half of the season. Things that irk me with most were endearing with her, like wearing the veto necklace or HOH robe all the time, not to mention her Jankie World toy tiara. Cam liked her but Chelsie liked Cam so that got complicated, so she switched to Tucker but he liked Rubina. Both Joseph and Quinn liked her but she kinda liked Quinn, eventually. She often talked nonstop about herself, sprinkled liberally with 'like' and 'literally,' and she came across as being ditzy but she was smarter and savvier than she seemed, and she reminded them of that often. Her bond with Angela was fun to watch as it developed, and then they went out on the same night.

2nd juror - 9th evicted - Day 66

She bonded with Kimo and Rubina early on, and the trio quickly became inseparable. That's heartwarming to see but a voting block of three is a big threat in this game. She was seen as their leader but she was beloved by everyone so it took awhile for her to hit the block. When she finally did, she didn't take it well and withdrew back into her self-described shell, and didn't fight hard enough to stay. She got Tucker out on her HOH, but he would have been a useful ally for her if he'd stayed. She and Kimo had excellent reads on the game and their fellow players throughout, but they didn't do much with those reads besides stealth-whisper to each other a lot. In Week 4 they orchestrated a vote flip but later denied doing so, even to each other. She's accomplished a lot in life at a young age and I have no doubt she'll continue to do so, and I wish her well.

HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/1/1 - HN 1

Quinn Martin - 25

Single - fan applicant/RHAP listener
Nurse recruiter
Omaha, NE (orig Lawton, OK)

1st juror - 8th evicted - Day 59

He was a different kind of superfan, having seen episodes and RHAP podcasts, but no feeds. He got the best power this show's ever handed out on Day 2, but blabbed it to two people, so by the time he used it everyone knew and the fun was spoiled. That week he put his ally Cedric on the block and he went home, and later he put his ally Joseph on the block, and he went home. But he was allied with nearly everyone at some point, with F2s all over town, and he blew up alliances like it was a hobby. He continually thought he had everyone in his pocket, unaware his pocket had a huge gaping hole and couldn't hold anything. He shouted in Diary but was light and fun much of the time, even when his game was tanking, so props for that. He fell hard for Leah and made 'googleah' eyes at her, and his 'sick nasty' speech to her was instant inspiration for a million memes.

Won: 24 hours solitary

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/1/0 - HN 1

Joseph Rodriguez - 30 31
Twitter - Instagram
Single - fan applicant/feedster
Video store clerk
Tampa, FL

7th evicted - Day 52

He brought a lot of unintentional comedy as he deluded himself about his power and influence, and he proclaimed himself 'star of the show' in one solo talk to himself/us. To his credit, his intentional comedy was every bit as good, although his dry sense of humor wasn't appreciated by some. He had a BB birthday that helped him settle in better socially, and he became the eighth hamster to get 24 hours in solitary. Three of those won their seasons but not this time. Joseph had extra chatty, holographic mini-Matt for company, and he said later he used his toilet tent for extracurricular purposes. He apologized to Angela after being brutally honest about her game, and he acknowledged he had some self-work to do about his 'mean streak.' I'll miss him, and wish him nothing but the best. Props to his siblings and friends for running the best hamster-adjacent socials we've ever seen.

Won: $20,000; Weeks 2 & 3 AI Arena; 1 week AI Assist; Week 6 AI Instigator

Tucker Des Lauriers - 30

Single - recruit
Marketing and sales exec
Brooklyn, NY (orig Boston, MA)

6th evicted - Day 45

He demolished two AI Arenas and was the first pre-juror to win three vetos in a row(!), along with an HOH. All that plus his boasting made him most everyone's target but he seemed to relish that spot (along with puzzles and biscuits). He was a welcome change from the usual 'comp beast' type, often showing compassion and empathy, and shedding tears over missing his min pin Ziggi. He fell in love with Rubina, and was often loud, sometimes obnoxious, frequently funny, and he usually owned whatever room he was in, including Diary. His gameplay was reckless and unpredictable, nearly always leaving chaos in his wake. He was that extremely rare breed of hamster: a hard gamer, often a good one (sometimes horrible), while being entertaining. He will be missed.

Brooklyn Rivera - 34
Twitter - Instagram
Married with kids - fan applicant
Business administrator
Dallas, TX (orig Covington, GA)

5th evicted - Day 38

She brought us a number of classic shockfaces for various blindsides, and she said 'this doesn't quite feel like Big Brother' when she was on the block and on her way out. I beg to differ. She confessed her sports dancer secret to Quinn (who told several), her Mrs America secret to Chelsie (who didn't), but I don't think she told anyone she's friends with Aaryn. Thanks to Cam, she provided a fun Michael Jackson side game out here for her last couple weeks. She never tired of saying she wanted a married mother to win this season, so I guess we can assume she'll be rooting from home for Angela.

Won: Week 1 mascot/can't compete or vote

HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/1 - HN 0

Cedric Hodges - 21
Twitter - Instagram
Single - recruit
Former Marine
Boise, ID (orig Running Springs, CA)

4th evicted - Day 31

He prepped by watching analysis clips and didn't see any full seasons so he had an unusual balance of BB lore and knowledge. He was a good sport about being sidelined Week 1 and he used that time well, becoming well-liked by all of them. 'Young Cedric' was an ongoing, evolving skit and his own elaborate life stories usually had them and us in stitches. Between expecting volunteers for the block and painting himself into a no-win corner between his various alliances, his HOH was a disaster. Then he volunteered to be a pawn the following week and learned the meaning of 'pawns go home.' He was funny, genuine, wise and mature beyond his years, and he'll be missed.

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 3/0/0 - HN 0

Kenney Kelley - 52

Married with kids - fan applicant
Former undercover cop

3rd evicted - Day 24

He adopted Matt and lost him fast, then he won a veto, and the rest of the time he said he wanted to quit. He rallied a bit at the end when he teamed up with Cedric and Tucker, adding Cam when he walked in on them, but that got blown up immediately. He mostly sat by himself and shouted out his family, or he complained to others about missing them, so they sent him back to them.

2nd evicted - Day 17

She's a legit chef/caterer and ran that into the ground, along with sprinkling edible glitter on everyone's food whether they wanted it or not. Tucker's rants about her were an early highlight, and she crumbled after Angela mocked her walk and called her a twit. Props for winning the first veto (rare for a woman), but she wasn't cut out for this setting. Most of that was simply being a bad roommate: she made (and wasted) food they didn't want, dabbed non-consensual essential oil on her roomies' pillows, propped filthy feet on food surfaces, and she never tired of telling everyone what a special and unique person she was.

1st evicted - Day 10

He filled the pretty boy/brojock casting slot perfectly but didn't like Angela pointing that out openly and immediately. He was adamant about not being 'that guy' and to his credit, he did talk a lot against toxic masculinity. He cried after Angela yelled at him, but went out in high spirits with ginormous smiles for Julie.

Won: Control of the game

GAME TWISTS

-First and second move-in groups of eight voted against letting Ainsley join as 17th player, and each group played comps based on their votes.

-Losers Cedric, Chelsie were Week 1 mascots: couldn't compete for HOH or veto, couldn't vote, could be nominated.

-Makensy won America's Veto: once in first four weeks, she can remove someone from the block and viewers will instant-vote the replacement. She used it Week 3 after she went up as veto renom.

-Quinn won Deep Fake HOH: once in first four weeks, the HOH's AI avatar will announce noms Quinn secretly picked, and he can spread misinfo and rumors via that fake avatar. He used it Week 4 to take over Angela's 2nd HOH (everyone knew about it).

-Weeks 1 thru 7: HOH picked three nominees, and veto renom if applicable. The three competed live in AI Arena before the vote, and the winner came off the block.

-Week 6: Viewer vote to pick someone for AI Instigator (Tucker), who could spread rumors via others' AI avatars. A second vote determined how much cash he won ($20k).

-Week 9: Jankie World: everyone lived outside in a carnival setting, with carnival food.
