Day 90 - Sunday - October 13, 2024
Finale day finally arrived and they woke up happy, excited, and a little emotional to that realization. Chelsie and Makensy paused in front of the hologram swirly, and a bit later Chelsie went off for a quick cry. Cam said "who's crying? It's 9 in the morning!" She recovered quickly and they started their final day of picking up and vacuuming for tonight's show. BB told them (behind fishies) to gather to tell us good-bye, which they did, wondering which camera to face to be seen by us feedsters. Maybe they'll eventually find out any of them would work.
Cam joked about being bullied by Chelsie, Makensy said she was probably mostly boring, and Chelsie thanked her Chisme fans and supporters. The wall cam did a very long zoom out that felt kind of final and bittersweet, and then the fishies came. They didn't swim for long, and feeds came back to our final three still in place and waiting to be excused. Then came more fishies, and more waiting, and finally the finale splash screen and better, calmer music came at 10am, and that was the end of BB26 feeds.
Huge thanks to @89razorskate20 and @Dolffica for sorting out the ever-changing alliance stew for us again, @liquid8d for BB Viewer and especially its short but valuable rewind, @clamperls4 for Diary tallies, and @rbbq for perfect, succinct, daily summaries with TL;DR skills I can only dream of. Thanks to all the many accounts, both large and small, who posted updates and clips to keep us all in the loop and were more valuable than ever this year without Flashback. And to the many talented, creative people who made jokes, memes, graphics, lists, and edits that were so clever and often hilarious. They really kept me going, and I highlighted a lot of them in my Lines and Links of the Day. I am forever in awe of the creativity we have in this fanbase. Props to Joseph's brother and friends, Leah's sister, and Cam's dawgs at the crib for playing along on BB Twitter and handling this messy, dysfunctional family so well. And thanks once again to my personal support team here at Hamsterwatch headquarters: Loosee, Hazo, and Flaca.
My biggest thanks go out to my Patreon subscribers and Ko-fi supporters! Covering 90 days at 12-16 hours per for a mostly unpaid "job" is a lot, and I literally couldn't do any of this without the financial support you guys contributed! And also to everyone who continued to visit my cluttery, text-based dinosaur site in this age of podcasts, thank you so much!!
Okay, on to the business at hand. We picked up Part 1 where we left off, and added lasers from the evil robot army that dropped cold green slime onto the backs of their necks. Drop times were Makensy at 26 minutes, and Cam at 37 minutes, giving Chelsie the win, as we knew. They got another video message from Derrick saying they had to take out Ainsley's brain to destroy her and save humanity, and he said it was too dangerous to send their instructions by fax anymore.
They entered the Part 2 arena which was an elaborate, techy looking set, and - get this - a RAVEN flew across the arena to deliver their instructions à la Game of Thrones! It was called Cerebral Shutdown and they had to move three "neurons" through a revolving vertical maze (similar to one they did on Reindeer Games), and then connect nine wires of different lengths into the proper slots. There was only one correct solution which Makensy got first, as we knew. That plunged Ainsley's brain into an acid bath or something, and she died like Hal 9000 (but faster, and without singing about Daisy).
Julie announced Taylor was taking over jury roundtable duties from Dr Will, and then she lapsed into some Canada-esque sponcon BS by saying they'd meet on "comfy blue sofas by Lovesac" in relation to some CBS ad campaign? Stop that. Rubina was brought out to join them and they did the usual back and forth about worthy winners, comps versus strategy versus social, and related chatter and misdirection.
Part 3 was Data Destruction, to identify data Ainsley corrupted. Each of the jurors appeared as a hologram in the Proto box with three statements about their own season trivia, one of which was false. Chelsie and Makensy both correctly identified the false statements for Quinn, T'kor, Leah, Angela, Kimo, with a bit of chatter as they went, which was different. Then Chelsie missed Rubina's question and Makensy didn't, giving her the final HOH win.
Chelsie and Cam made their pleas, and Cam gave a final shoutout to his dawgs at the crib (at Julie's prompt). Makensy evicted Cam (giving a speech before she did, like she did when she evicted Rubina - stop that). He was expecting it no matter which of them won, and he went out in good spirits with hugs and smiles. Julie asked about him telling Makensy he'd take her to the end if he won the final HOH and he said he was just finessing her, he would have absolutely taken Chelsie. Back inside, Chelsie and Makensy shared an F2 hug. Congrats to them for being the first pair of women finalists - no, not ever, but for the first time since Season 13.
The jury was assembled onstage, Cam joined them, and Julie said together they'd come up with three questions for each finalist. They fired those off one by one, and they were more or less boilerplate about their overall games, and what they did to get there, and why they deserve to win over each other. Chelsie gave generally better answers than Makensy, partly because she'd been anticipating them and practicing for several days. Cam came up with his own question, which was asking Chelsie what differentiated her game from Makensy's, and an interesting bit of Chelsie's answer was she said she could have showmanced (like Makensy) at the beginning but chose not to. Huh. Okay then. Then the jurors trotted their keys up to the box and placed their votes, with a snappy little comment from each as they did so.
Pre-jurors were assembled onstage next, and that kicked off with Julie asking Joseph about his family in Tampa after Hurricane Milton. He said he almost skipped coming to the finale as his area had several deaths and a lot of damage, including some damage for his family but they were okay so here he was. Tucker apologized to Cedric for the bad misunderstanding about offering to go on the block those many weeks ago, Lisa said she was surprised at Chelsie's outgoing Diary persona compared to her quieter in-house self, and Tucker crossed the stage to give Rubina flowers and a hug, aww. Julie assured her Tucker had said in his eviction interview that his feelings were real and he wants to continue the relationship if she does, which everyone out here already knows. And she said she'd like that too.
Julie told Makensy she'd been saying she had a flirtmance with Matt all season but she used the word showmance twice tonight in her jury questions and speech, which is it? Both she and Matt said "conversation is due." And Matt did an "Angela, Angela, Angela" slow clap re-enactment, and said he'd love to bury the hatchet with her. She said she's fine with that, and they hugged. Brooklyn said she doesn't regret her gameplay but there was something about "alleged theft" and they all saw Charcuterie Gate play out. Julie told them Tucker was the AI Instigator, which shocked Rubina, and he said it was the worst feeling when he made Rubina cry about that when his plan to reveal their showmance backfired, and they had another hug. And Julie told them all Biden dropped out of the election and Kamala Harris is running against Trump.
Finally it was time for Julie to read the votes. Quinn, T'kor, Leah, Angela all voted for Chelsie to win and that's all it took. She and Makensy came out hand-in-hand as Makensy had requested, the confetti flew, the tears came, along with all the hugs and reunions between winners, losers, jurors, and pre-jurors. Massive congrats to Chelsie from me for a brilliant game of Big Brother the way it was meant to be played.
Julie revealed Kimo, Rubina, Cam also voted for Chelsie, making it a unanimous win. And she announced Tucker won the $50,000 viewer favorite vote, the first pre-juror to ever win that (deservedly!) and that the other top vote-getters were Angela and Quinn. She began to wrap up the show saying she'd see us again next summer, with no mention of Reindeer Games (boo, though it probably only happened because of last year's industry strikes). Then we were back in the house where Jankie was reconstituted because Ainsley had been destroyed, and everyone onstage and in the audience sang his J-A-N-K-I-E song. And that was that.

My season wrapup is at @realityblurred but suffice to say, it was a pretty good season, especially for those of us who are here for the entertainment, cheap or otherwise. And here's a tidbit I haven't shared before: one of them was almost replaced by an alternate when they tested COVID+ in pre-show hotel sequester. Rather than send them home immediately like they did Christie before Season 23, they waited it out until the test came back negative. I'm not going to say who, but it was one of our three finalists. I bet whoever made that call to keep them is pleased with their decision.
A lot of things could have been done better but production stepped it up and shined in many ways this season. Despite whatever problems, I thank them for bringing our annual guilty pleasure back to us again, and as always, big ups and thanks to each one of the 16 hamsters for putting themselves out there for our amusement.
PS Thank you for reviving young Jankie. He didn't deserve to go out like he did.

She played this game hard and well from the minute she moved in. She had a hand in nearly every nomination and eviction and while she took a few losses along the way when those noms or votes didn't go how she wanted, she adapted rather than insisting she get her way. Then she brought in Makensy as a shield/weapon, and she controlled every week for the last half of the game. Along the way she ranted into her Febreze mic about Cam and his feet, socks, and laundry, and she gave us her thoughts regularly with her Chisme and Prediction shows. Like Makensy, she talked religion too much for my tastes, but as a gamer, she played the hell out of this thing from every angle: comp wins, manipulation, mental sharpness, and social relationships, including comfort and support for evictees on their way out. She gave a masterclass in BB every week and most every day, and her game should be studied by future hopefuls. She fully deserved her win.

She cozied up with Matt at the start, and Angela became her season-long nemesis when she mentioned Makensy in the 'Crazy Eyes' breakfast rant. She was out of all game loops for the first half of the game, so she had lots of shockfaces at the early blindsides. She won one of the two move-in comps plus two AI Arenas, establishing her as a self-proclaimed comp beast, but she earned the title in the second half. Unfortunately for her, Chelsie made all her HOH and veto decisions for her, including using a veto on Angela when her prime objective as HOH that week was to get Angela gone. Her main conversation topics for much of the season were about her ex, being young, tall and pretty, and working in construction, plus she talked about her religion too much for my tastes. Despite winning a lot of important comps, she never balanced that with playing the actual game of Big Brother, especially on the last night when she gave away an easy win by keeping Chelsie.

He was very low profile and unbothered at first but they all loved him, and his quick wit came out more and more as numbers thinned. Chelsie liked him but he liked Leah, and that triangle made for some awkward flirting and related reactions. He only won one veto and he kicked himself repeatedly for his poor comp performances, especially in the last weeks. His Week 1 Core/CCC alliance with Chelsie and Cedric was the foundation for Pentagon and Collective, but their trio stayed solid even when the add-ons blew up, and Cam and Chelsie stayed tight after Cedric's eviction. He starred in group skits and shows as Midnight Hour and Starfish Delight, and he loved his horsie Ghost Pepper in Jankie World. He remembered his dawgs at the crib every Thursday, and he gave us the best side game of the season when he randomly said Brooklyn in her red top looked like a 'pasty Michael Jackson.'

She was often a lot of fun, and she was liked by nearly all of them. She jumpscared a lot, laughed a lot (loudly), danced a lot, and she cried a lot too, most notably after Tucker's first AI Instigator task backfired. The two of them fell hard for each other, but she had to be constantly reassured he was sincere and not gaming her. She also bonded tightly with T'kor and Kimo, so much and so visibly that they were dubbed The Trio in there. She made strong social connections that kept her safe, so she stayed well insulated as targets lined up ahead of her. Her only comp win was the tangled rope AI Arena, but she beasted that and saved herself. She usually accepted her many nominations and comp losses gracefully, and often comforted her co-nominees who didn't take theirs as well. She lasted til fourth place because Makensy did Chelsie's bidding rather than looking out for her own best interests.

Definitely one of the nicest hamsters in this cast, he was well-liked by virtually all of them and most viewers as well (not counting his noisy eating habits and thunderous belches). He wrote several BB songs in there and sang them a lot, and he has a good singing voice, but eventually it got to be a bit much. Gamewise he spent a lot of time in the first half in marathon whisper sessions with T'kor, and they generally had very good reads, but they rarely did much with that knowledge. He saved himself in the first AI Arena but then didn't do much until he won the high pressure double eviction veto. He became a perma-pawn along with Angela and Rubina, and he didn't put up any fight about those nominations, or even campaign some weeks. But he lived his dream of being on the show, and he formed super tight bonds with T'kor and Rubina that will likely last a very long time.

Easily the co-star of the season, alongside Tucker (for different reasons), but she lasted a lot longer than he did. She won two HOHs and a veto, she was on the block seven times, and others veto'd her off it an unprecedented three times. She marched back and forth in the yard overnight for 9.5 hours, including a lot of full goop treatments, and she held up a marshmallow skewer overnight for 9.75 hours. That resumé would win many seasons, but a lot of them didn't like her. She added layers of drama, tantrums, self-deprecating humor, paranoia, kindness, a whole lot of crying, and a game strategy that mostly consisted of 'I want to be here.' She was often loyal and often not, and she was both a pleasure and a chore to watch, depending on the day, and she polarized viewers like few others. She proved that the older woman slot in the casting formula doesn't have to be a doomed early boot, or a dud.

She was a social chameleon and she wasn't in many real alliances, but she had F2s (or close enough) with Lisa, Kenney, Quinn, Brooklyn, Joseph, Makensy, and Angela. She was often fun, often annoying, and a unique personality that the edits unfortunately overlooked for the first half of the season. Things that irk me with most were endearing with her, like wearing the veto necklace or HOH robe all the time, not to mention her Jankie World toy tiara. Cam liked her but Chelsie liked Cam so that got complicated, so she switched to Tucker but he liked Rubina. Both Joseph and Quinn liked her but she kinda liked Quinn, eventually. She often talked nonstop about herself, sprinkled liberally with 'like' and 'literally,' and she came across as being ditzy but she was smarter and savvier than she seemed, and she reminded them of that often. Her bond with Angela was fun to watch as it developed, and then they went out on the same night.

She bonded with Kimo and Rubina early on, and the trio quickly became inseparable. That's heartwarming to see but a voting block of three is a big threat in this game. She was seen as their leader but she was beloved by everyone so it took awhile for her to hit the block. When she finally did, she didn't take it well and withdrew back into her self-described shell, and didn't fight hard enough to stay. She got Tucker out on her HOH, but he would have been a useful ally for her if he'd stayed. She and Kimo had excellent reads on the game and their fellow players throughout, but they didn't do much with those reads besides stealth-whisper to each other a lot. In Week 4 they orchestrated a vote flip but later denied doing so, even to each other. She's accomplished a lot in life at a young age and I have no doubt she'll continue to do so, and I wish her well.

He was a different kind of superfan, having seen episodes and RHAP podcasts, but no feeds. He got the best power this show's ever handed out on Day 2, but blabbed it to two people, so by the time he used it everyone knew and the fun was spoiled. That week he put his ally Cedric on the block and he went home, and later he put his ally Joseph on the block, and he went home. But he was allied with nearly everyone at some point, with F2s all over town, and he blew up alliances like it was a hobby. He continually thought he had everyone in his pocket, unaware his pocket had a huge gaping hole and couldn't hold anything. He shouted in Diary but was light and fun much of the time, even when his game was tanking, so props for that. He fell hard for Leah and made 'googleah' eyes at her, and his 'sick nasty' speech to her was instant inspiration for a million memes.

To his credit, his intentional comedy was every bit as good, although his dry sense of humor wasn't appreciated by some. He had a BB birthday that helped him settle in better socially, and he became the eighth hamster to get 24 hours in solitary. Three of those won their seasons but not this time. Joseph had extra chatty, holographic mini-Matt for company, and he said later he used his toilet tent for extracurricular purposes. He apologized to Angela after being brutally honest about her game, and he acknowledged he had some self-work to do about his 'mean streak.' I'll miss him, and wish him nothing but the best. All that plus his boasting made him most everyone's target but he seemed to relish that spot (along with puzzles and biscuits). He was a welcome change from the usual 'comp beast' type, often showing compassion and empathy, and shedding tears over missing his min pin Ziggi. He fell in love with Rubina, and was often loud, sometimes obnoxious, frequently funny, and he usually owned whatever room he was in, including Diary. His gameplay was reckless and unpredictable, nearly always leaving chaos in his wake. He was that extremely rare breed of hamster: a hard gamer, often a good one (sometimes horrible), while being entertaining. He will be missed.

She confessed her sports dancer secret to Quinn (who told several), her Mrs America secret to Chelsie (who didn't), but I don't think she told anyone she's friends with Aaryn. Thanks to Cam, she provided a fun Michael Jackson side game out here for her last couple weeks. He was a good sport about being sidelined Week 1 and he used that time well, becoming well-liked by all of them. 'Young Cedric' was an ongoing, evolving skit and his own elaborate life stories usually had them and us in stitches. Between expecting volunteers for the block and painting himself into a no-win corner between his various alliances, his HOH was a disaster. Then he volunteered to be a pawn the following week and learned the meaning of 'pawns go home.' He was funny, genuine, wise and mature beyond his years, and he'll be missed.

Tucker's rants about her were an early highlight, and she crumbled after Angela mocked her walk and called her a twit. Props for winning the first veto (rare for a woman), but she wasn't cut out for this setting. Most of that was simply being a bad roommate: she made (and wasted) food they didn't want, dabbed non-consensual essential oil on her roomies' pillows, propped filthy feet on food surfaces, and she never tired of telling everyone what a special and unique person she was.

THE REAL SHOW IS THE FEEDS
BB1 thru BB25 plus Celebs and OTT, and loads of other shows and movies, plus originals
GAME TWISTS
-First and second move-in groups of eight voted against letting Ainsley join as 17th player, and each group played comps based on their votes.
-Losers Cedric, Chelsie were Week 1 mascots: couldn't compete for HOH or veto, couldn't vote, could be nominated.
-Makensy won America's Veto: once in first four weeks, she can remove someone from the block and viewers will instant-vote the replacement. She used it Week 3 after she went up as veto renom.
-Quinn won Deep Fake HOH: once in first four weeks, the HOH's AI avatar will announce noms Quinn secretly picked, and he can spread misinfo and rumors via that fake avatar. He used it Week 4 to take over Angela's 2nd HOH (everyone knew about it).
-Weeks 1 thru 7: HOH picked three nominees, and veto renom if applicable. The three competed live in AI Arena before the vote, and the winner came off the block.
-Week 6: Viewer vote to pick someone for AI Instigator (Tucker), who could spread rumors via others' AI avatars. A second vote determined how much cash he won ($20k).
-Week 9: Jankie World: everyone lived outside in a carnival setting, with carnival food.
