Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 100 - Thursday - November 9, 2023

The three were woken up and gradually started their day as usual. Around 10am they gathered to say goodbye to us, which Bowie kicked off by loudly shouting at us. It was the usual "goodbye live feeders" and shoutouts, and maybe she just switched over to her Diary voice and persona automatically, but it made me laugh and wonder if she had any inkling that we've heard virtually everything they've said for 100 long days. As it happens, I'm very glad to see the end of these feeds, and not only because those 100 days were so very long. I don't remember ever seeing a Final Three be so cocky and arrogant about having made it to the end as this trio, continually boasting about how great they were and how well they played BB, and bashing virtually everyone else in the cast and talking about how badly they'd all played. Goodbye and good riddance.

The finale wrapped up Part 1 and we learned they'd brought the heavy rain machine back for that, explaining why they said it was so cold. Bowie dropped at 1 hour 24 minutes, and Jag and Matt finally did rock-paper-scissors, with Jag dropping at 2 hours 56 minute. They went to the jury roundtable after that, and they omitted the heated discussions that Dr Will talked about in his interview with Sharon Tharp. Boo! He also said it ran very long, but the segment they ran on the finale was relatively short. Boo again.

Final HOH Part 2 was Multiverse Mixup, which was individually timed. Jag and Bowie had to ride a short zipline to grab one or two tiles at a time of season comp names, then zip them back and place onto the proper Multiverse board, in chronological order. Neither of them paid attention to the 'verses in their studying, so it took them awhile to get it right. Bowie's time was 1 hour 30 minutes, and Jag's was 1 hour 3 minutes, giving him the win. And then we moved on to new, live business.

Part 3 was Jury Verse, with six cutesy comic videos from each juror with three statements about their own season trivia, one of which was false. Matt and Jag both got the first five correct and the last one wrong, resulting in a 5-5 tie. Their tiebreaker was how many minutes did Part 1 comp last, "without going over." The answer was 176. Matt said 140 and Jag said 163, giving him the win for the final HOH.

Bowie's and Matt's nominee speeches both reminded Jag he'd been tight with and had deals with each of them, but Jag evicted Bowie with a grandiose speech. She said "no problem" and went out with huge smiles. She shouted her very short exit interview with Julie, who said "you certainly sound like you're flying high." It's true, she did. The jurors were assembled onstage and Bowie joined them eight minutes after she was evicted. I think that was a lot sooner than usual, and made me once again long for the old days when the final juror had a few days to recover a bit, learn what they needed to cast an informed vote, and participate in the deliberation.

The jurors asked their questions, with one each for either Jag for Matt. And that brought another reminder of the old seasons when more questions were asked, but I digress. Tonight's questions had an edge but weren't really hardball. Cirie asked Matt if he'd done any moves of his own that weren't Jag's, Cory asked Jag if he'd carried Matt, and America asked Jag if it was cowardly to blindside them all and only come clean in his farewell messages. The answers were pretty much boilerplate with nothing very unexpected.

Then came the speeches. Matt said as the first deaf player he'd had no role model and couldn't hear many of the conversations, so he focused on his social game and lived in Have-not so he could use it for his talks. And he said he knew he was seen as a physical threat so he worked on his social game, successfully. He said he'd used his Power to save Jag so he could move forward with him. Jag's speech was something else. He said "I'm here and you're there because I willed it to be so, I signed your eviction notices" and he said he singlehandedly caused most of their evictions and he'd had a big hand in planning and executing the others. He mentioned his bloody hands, said he was the most dominant and strategic player, and he'd earned the victory. Much of it was true, but he delivered it in the cocky and arrogant manner he'd developed over the last couple weeks, with an added shouty factor. And he said he was proud to be the first Sikh player and wanted to be the first Sikh winner. The juror placed their keys, and the game was over.

Pre-jurors assembled onstage with the jurors, and the secrets came out. Hisam revealed Mecole's actual job was a political consultant rather than a teacher, but his own secret of being a doctor wasn't mentioned. Julie let Bowie reveal she was actually a (former) criminal trial lawyer, and she copped to being 45 (46) when Felicia got the question spot about that, saying "I know what 35 looks like." Cameron learned Felicia is not related to Denzel, and Julie asked Matt to guess who was related among the cast. He said Cory and America (what?), and Julie said Jared's mom was among them. She asked for said mom to reveal herself and Cirie did. The only real reactions we got were Matt's and Jag's, but they were flabbergasted. Izzy explained she'd known from move-in and kept the secret, and Julie revealed that Jared had told Blue.

Julie read the votes and Jag won the season 5-2, garnering votes from Bowie, America, Blue, Cory, Cameron, with Felicia and Cirie voting for Matt. The confetti flew, the guys came out, and hugs and celebrations ensued. Julie said Cirie, Matt, Cameron were the top vote-getters for the viewer favorite prize, then revealed Cameron had won that, which rendered him speechless, along with many out here, as well as Jared apparently, gauging by his expression.

Julie acted like she was getting a weird signal in her earpiece and we saw a sequel to the premiere skit with Britney, Danielle, Frankie back in the house to set the BB multiverses right again. But everything went kerflooey again and erupted in Christmas jingles and flying decor, and Julie finally gave the "huge announcement" they teased on Sunday's eviction and throughout this show. That turned out be Big Brother Reindeer Games premiering December 11, with "new games and a new set of rules" and featuring some legendary BB players, plus one to be invited back from this season. And she said Jordan, Derek X, and Tiffany M would also appear as Santa's elves. That Britney/Danielle/Frankie segment was taped Monday by the way, when the F3 were in a lengthy HOH lockdown the morning after doing Part 1.

Julie wrapped up by saying "see you next summer" with nothing about a celebs or normal/shortened winter season, other than this Reindeer Games show, whatever that'll be. And once again, that's a wrap.

Shoutout to everyone who sent me goofs, funnies, words of support, and big ups to all my BB pals who tried to keep it fun even when it wasn't. Special kudos to @89razorskate20 and @Dolffica for continuously sorting out the extra-messy alliance stew, @liquid8d for BBViewer, @bigbrotherwikia for ALL the data, @clamperls4 for DR tallies. And @rbbq, @EvelDick, @UGotBronx for being there, and especially @DrWillKirby for sending me the biggest laugh just when I needed it most. And to ALL the updaters and recappers who stuck with the feeds all season: we all rely on each other, and I appreciate every one of you.

A HUGE THANK YOU to my Patreon subscribers, who got these daily recaps via email, as well as everyone who donated at Ko-fi. This was definitely not my favorite season. It was too long, too dry, and too chock-full of not much except gametalk. As you're surely aware by now, I'm here for the entertainment value, and there wasn't much of that. Cirie, Felicia, Izzy brought it regularly, together and separately, in various ways. Others made for fun feeds at times, and there was some good gaming that was compelling to watch, but not a lot. Most of the gametalk was overly repetitive and eventually pointless, but that's all they did. The episodes were often juvenile and more incomplete than usual, as far as providing a comprehensive picture of the house dynamics. And yes, I understand they need to compress a whole lot of content into 3x43-minute weekly episodes, and that's not easy. They still could have done better. Let's not even talk about the Diary segments they used, which gave us virtually nothing.

Feeds downtime wasn't as bad as some of the middle years, but it was worse than most relatively recent seasons. Feeds were blocked for too long before and after blockable events this season (never mind what's considered blockable), and we often had pointless three-hour and longer blocks after live shows. They could easily send out estimates or heads-ups for expected long outages but do they bother? No. I could go on but won't: we know what the problems are and so do they, and this season did relatively well in the ratings, usually placing first except when against football. So I guess that's good enough for The Powers That Be, and maybe there's no incentive to do better.

Of 16 eviction votes with 109 total votes cast, only 4 were dissenting. That's a problem. Of 16 vetos, only one was won by a woman. That's a problem. Three (THREE!) hamsters were evicted and then revived, and while I understand the need to drag everything out to the 100-day length meant to combat the lack of other programming due to the writers' and actors' strikes, we didn't need two "reset" weeks and a pointless double eviction to do that. Come up with something new. You can find more from me about the season's twists and comps at realityblurred.

Still, they brought us another season and they kept feeds on for it, unlike Canada. And while I may rant and rave about it all, I'm still grateful for that, and to each and every hamster for putting themselves out there for our amusement. Except Luke. (That's one thing they handled properly, and kudos for that.)

Cameron targeted him early but he saved himself with veto, and was then evicted 10-0 two weeks later. Matt revived him with the power he'd won and he stuck to the end, going on a major win streak the last weeks that resulted in a record-setting seven vetos. Through it all he seemed like he felt entitled to stay, and to win, to the point of wanting a house meeting before his eviction to learn everyone's vote, and then he obsessed about those votes afterwards. He made and broke multiple F2 deals without batting an eye, he planned or participated in multiple blindsides, and he told both Bowie and Matt they'd be his final choice. All that's fine in BB, except he acted like he was a loyal, honest player. His gametalks were exhausting but he was a good chicken, and his life and family stories were great.

I gave him props at the start for even attempting this game based on convos and whispers, but he did well with that along with the rest of it. He was liked by most if not all of them, which kept him in power alliances and off the block until F4, without having to do much. Most wanted his comp skills on their team, although he didn't score any wins besides the Invincibility power until Day 51 double eviction veto. Then he won the next double eviction veto (in the same comp) and his first HOH a few minutes later. He let Jag convince him to put Cirie up and out, despite being loyal to her all season. He was a great sport about his Cardboard Josh week and he made that fun to watch. But by the end, he and his fellow F3s were all too full of themselves to enjoy.

7th juror - 14th evicted - Day 100

She was a true summer camper and was mostly unbothered by anything, except when Cirie and Felicia shunned her, then blindsided her with the Red vote, and again when numbers dwindled and she was in actual jeopardy of going on the block. But she never did until by default at the end. That might be called a perfect game but she only escaped nomination because she was largely forgotten and overlooked. She was finally recruited by Cameron who had no one else, then Jag & Matt scooped her up to boot him and to be their F3 goat (not GOAT). She started playing BB on Day 53 when she suddenly held one-on-one talks for no apparent reason. Her age and (former) job lies stayed intact, and while she bothered most of the fandom, I kind of enjoyed her deer-in-headlights demeanor, for the lulz.

6th juror - 13th evicted - Day 96

She was a breath of fresh (sometimes farty) air, with no filters but always the ability to laugh at herself. She was loud, outspoken, kind, sometimes obnoxious, usually hilarious, with a full body cackle, often laughing with Cirie to the point of tears. At age 63, she didn't win physical comps but not for lack of trying, to the point of passing out in the spinny chair veto. She got slimed, solitary confinement, and stuck in a tandem kayak, but she was a good sport for all that. She cooked for them all season and usually cleaned up too, but the F3 shunned her in her last week. She wasn't Denzel's sister like Cameron thought, but she was the reason the fandom called Bowie FBJ all season. She and her lengthy shopping lists to Mister B will be missed. Smooches.
Update: We found out via eviction QAs she'd been told her brother passed in Week 9. Her family urged her to stay and keep playing, which she did obviously, but she kept that to herself and still soldiered on. Even more props and flowers to her!

5th juror - 12th evicted - Day 93

I didn't know her but soon realized her legendary status was well earned. She quietly drove the first part of the game, helped with secret intel from Jared and busy getaround by Izzy, and she was quickly liked and respected by all. Red's eviction lost Bowie from her side, and when Jared's messy gameplay got him evicted she seemed to lose motivation, but she rallied and got back in the game. She had no comp wins, instead playing a subtle but effective social game that kept her in almost to the end. It was great to see her and Izzy bond, and also fun to watch her on/off friendship with Felicia. The two of them brought laughter to the feeds daily, and I love them for that. More of my thoughts on Cirie & her game.

4th juror - 11th evicted - Day 86

She said she'd flirt and was willing to showmance, and she did, hooking up with Cory and later saying she'd surprised herself by developing feelings for him. Her game was often messy, as is often the case with feedster-hamsters, and she often said things she shouldn't to the wrong people, but she managed to escape consequences for that for a long time. She got annoyed at Cory more than once for gaming on her/their behalf without her. She had no wins but avoided eviction three times out of four noms, finally going out on the late season double. She was sometimes performative, especially when she talked about and re-created various iconic BB moments.

3rd juror - 10th evicted - Day 86

Her Diary persona couldn't have been more different than her everyday self, and it was jarring to see her posing and kitty-purring on the episodes after hearing her be relatively normal in the days between episodes. She talked a big game but didn't always have the comp or social skills to back it up, yet she managed to stick for quite awhile anyway, even though she was often a target for several. She and Jared had a more 'adult' showmance than America and Cory, and that's fine. She was let in on the biggest secret of the season but never let it slip to anyone, leading most of us to wonder if she even believed it, or maybe had forgotten.

2nd juror - 9th evicted - Day 79

He came in expecting to win without breaking a sweat, but he didn't count on others playing the game, and he went out with less than impressive stats. He said he'd downplay his BB scholar status but didn't. He was in gamebot mode 24/7 until he hooked up with America, and then he split his time between gaming and making out with her. That split focus may have caused him to let his guard down enough that he didn't realize they'd become everyone's target. He had a birthday, a makeover, and grew a mustache. He might have done better if he was a little older with some more life experience. His gametalk wore me out but I usually enjoyed his dry humor.

Comp beast yes, but his social game was a disaster. He never tired of reminding them he was on the block or HOH every week, which didn't help reduce his target. He had two modes: cocky winner or gloomy loser, the former resulting in lengthy How To Play BB lectures that were transparently self-serving. He had peculiar attitudes towards/about both Reilly and America, and the only tight bond he formed was with Red. His lack of self-awareness was never more apparent than when he said 'Cory always has to be the smartest person in a room' - somebody buy this man a mirror.

7th evicted - Day 65

She laid low at the start, which can be good strategy, but then she stayed low throughout the middle game, which is not. She was a charter member of Professors but didn't adapt when it fell apart, and while she was well-liked by all, she didn't form strong bonds on the side like her fellow Brown Sugar Babes did. She put more effort into making her teacher job-lie convincing than she did in her BB game, but her semi-regular rants about the overall stupidity of everyone and the season made her a star for Team Fun Feeds.

Izzy could have ratted out his and Cirie's secret and didn't, but Jared mucked up a built-in advantage by continually doing and saying way too much. He hooked up with Blue and spilled his secret to her, but neglected to tell Cirie he had. His relationships with Blue and/or his (ex?) girlfriend are none of my business, but it was an ongoing and interesting side story. He got a free bonus week after he was evicted but failed to make it work for him. His and Cirie's mother-and-son moments were sweet and pure, and that's rare on any season.

5th evicted - Day 44

She clocked Cirie and Jared in a minute, and she quickly went from being a Cirie fan to a devoted ally and surrogate daughter. She made no secret of it and that didn't go unnoticed. She was often manic, chaotic, and cracked, and her animated conversations and limitless facial expressions became their own side game. She later calmed down under Cirie's mentorship and they drove the first half of the game, not always to their benefit. She was a never-a-dull-moment hamster and that's always good for fun feeds.

He was a caricature of himself on the episodes but he was more genuine on feeds. His and Cameron's bromance was like some over-countrified afterschool special and when they broke up, the tinkly piano shifted to a broken banjo string twang. He said some inappropriate things, he provided baked goods, and he was a good sport about his birthday roast. He was a victim of the heavily layered and interwoven alliance mess, so this feller had to skedaddle back to hawkin' moonshine in Gatlinburg.

He painted a target on himself by winning the first two vetos and the second HOH, and he knew that. He started out fun and lively but he got HOHitis so bad his own alliance orchestrated a blindside plan to put him up and out. His campaign pitches were painful, right? As he gave marathon speeches, right? In his soft breathy voice, right? To anyone he could corner for an hour, right? He was a superb comp host and game show emcee for one of the few group activities they did.

Four people were already nominated when she won the first HOH and all she had to do was remove two. She spent most of the first days repeating she wanted an alliance of eight, which she eventually pulled together, with F2, F3, F4 along the way. She had it made but then found out everyone else knew about her eight and she spent the rest of her HOH week in tears. Then she hit the block and campaigned poorly, but at least she went out fighting.

Ejected Day 8

Between hamsters thinking he was a secret doctor and feedsters thinking he was a secret twin, his week was full of unintentional comedy. He added to that by not knowing the show or that the game had started without him, then he worked hard to join the game in progress, with no success. Then he dropped the n-word, and then he was gone.

GAME TWISTS

Week 1 BB Multiverse
-Losers of four move-in comps went on the block, and HOH Reilly saved two.

Week 2 Nether Region
-Inconsistent and vague. Individuals were sent to Nether Region for varying lengths of time, receiving 'something good or bad' and selecting the next one to go.
-Roster of who went and for how long is in the Extracurricular Items tally.

Week 4 Invincibility Power
-Viewers voted four to secretly compete for the power, which gave the winner the option to save the Week 4 or Week 5 evictee.
-Cirie, Cory, Jag, Matt competed, Matt won, and secretly used it to cancel Jag's eviction at the end of Week 4.

Week 8 Scary Week: Zombies
-No HOH, noms, or veto.
-Cameron, Jared were evicted on Day 51 double eviction, then sent back into the house as zombies.
-They did a 3-part comp and Cameron won the option to play or pass a live challenge.
-Cameron did the challenge, completed it, and was revived. Jared was evicted again.

Week 11 Comic Week
-Power of Invisibility: HOH's identity was secret, unless they chose to share. Jag won and eventually told everyone. He was allowed to play for the following HOH (which he won).
-Power of Multiplicity: There were two veto comps with two veto winners. Jag won the first, and Blue the second.
