Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 96 - Sunday - November 5, 2023

Jag worked on a speech with Bowie to boot Matt tonight, that included saying he's making a decision to look out for himself "and I hope you can understand." A few minutes later Felicia pitched to Jag saying she'd roll with him if he keeps her tonight and she'd take him to finals if that decision is hers. And she said she's always felt a connection with Jag that's faith-based. He said he wouldn't/couldn't tell her his decision yet, but said he was choosing to believe her because he didn't think she'd bring faith into it and lie. She also said she had "an appreciation" for Bowie that she didn't have before, due to their rehash talks yesterday, especially about Red's eviction week. Felicia later complimented Bowie on her game and never being nominated. Bowie said the two of them had been themselves all season, and have said something when they were perturbed. And she said all the connivers were gone now. (This is a good time for a reminder that Bowie was a trained courtroom litigator, and she's been putting those argument and persuasion skills to work these last few days and weeks, in my opinion.) Matt told Jag he didn't know how much he needed to campaign to him, and Jag said he didn't need to at all, but they talked about having been bros all season. A little later, Jag told Bowie he'll keep Matt after all.

The show ran the nominations from Thursday night, Cirie's arrival to jury house, a Taylor sit-down with Julie to discuss the season, and then the final veto comp, along with the usual recap and convo segments. One of those had Bowie saying in Diary she was happy Jag won the veto because it meant he'd vote out Felicia, and Mafia would go to F3. They didn't mention that Bowie and Jag had talked about cutting Matt for days before that - pretty much the entire week in scary room while Matt snoozed in HOH. And of course they didn't include any of the smacktalk the three did about Felicia all week, nor how they'd pretty much ignored and isolated her for most of the past few days.

Jag evicted Felicia, "with a heart full of admiration," and she went out with smiles and laughs when she sat down with Julie. Matt was visibly extremely nervous sitting in that nominee chair, and the F3 shared huge hugs and did their little Mafia hand signal as soon as Felicia stepped out the door. Her farewells included Bowie saying she'd been working with the guys since Week 6, a story they'd concocted together. (Actually it was Week 10 on Bowie's first HOH, when she teamed up with them rather than Cameron, and then they booted him again.) Jag's farewell said Matt and Bowie wanted Felicia gone last week, but he'd shifted the target to Cirie. As if that would make a difference with her jury vote after taking her out single-handedly tonight.

Julie told them the final HOH comp would start "soon" and when they cracked their traditional champagne and cheers'd, Jag said they'd been told not to pound it since they had a comp tonight. Julie then told us she'll have a huge announcement on the finale: "the BB universe has a big holiday surprise in store," likely referring to the much-rumored and expected winter season. Goodie. Last year feeds came back after the F3 memories meal and Part 1 comp at 11.37pm, and the year before at 11pm. Add an hour to those times for tonight's episode starting at 10pm rather than the usual 9pm. But with this trio, Part 1 could be over pretty fast. I could see them cutting deals five minutes in. That may not have happened though, as feeds weren't back by 1am, so I'll catch up tomorrow.

A HUGE THANK YOU to my Patreon subscribers, who got these daily recaps via email, as well as everyone who donated at Ko-fi. Day 97 - Monday - November 6, 2023

Feeds didn't come back til around 3.30am, and Matt had won Part 1 of the final HOH. It was endurance and involved slime along with rain, and getting pelted with hair again (ugh why). It was quite cold, and they had to only use one hand - possibly throughout, but I'd guess that was towards the end. It may have involved a spinny element and if so, Bowie would have been out immediately with her motion sickness issues. Later she said she thought she'd lasted about 1.5 hours, and the guys went for 4 or 5 hours total. If they had their memories meal last night for Tuesday's clip show, the table, kitchen, and pantry were completely cleaned up which is a bit unlike these three. And I didn't hear anything about dinner in my rewind spot-checking, but I did see Matt slice a piece of cake left over from the prior night. They stayed up another hour or so, and then were woken up today at 9.15am. Feeds went immediately to adoptable anipals so maybe they had a memories brunch like older seasons, rather than dinner. Update: nope.

Also due soon are their video messages from home, and the Part 2 comp, which will be Jag versus Bowie. Elsewhere, the jurors will greet Felicia this evening and hold their roundtable discussion, hosted once again by the GOAT, Dr Will Kirby.

Jag and Bowie discussed their new predicament before bed, and Jag predictably second-guessed his decision to cut Felicia over Matt. They agreed Felicia wouldn't have won that comp and now Matt was potentially in their way to the end again. Bowie said Matt looked solid throughout the comp, even while shivering from the cold. But Jag said he would have regretted booting Matt, and that keeping Felicia for easy wins at the end would have been "the coward's way out." And they laughed about the two of them getting no jury votes: "all that, 100 days, for what? Just to get no jury votes," adding that they'd each have one, each other's.

Feeds came back a little after 2pm and they still hadn't done Part 2 or their memories meal. They'd been in HOH lockdown since morning wakeup, with no indication why. (I think something went on downstairs that will be used on the finale, but don't quote me on that.) Maybe they did the memories last night after all, and got their videos from home, and either they just didn't talk about either event or that talk was blocked - there were a lot of frequent feeds blocks today. Jag told Matt and Bowie separately they'd won no matter who takes Parts 2 and 3. If the final decision is Jag's on Thursday, his Sophie's Choice will be brutal. Otherwise they laid around, rehashed, managed to make dinner by themselves (chicken and quesadillas), congratulated themselves, played some bumper pool, rehashed some more, and Matt dissed America and Cory some more. Part 2 will be tomorrow, I guess.

New today is a piece I wrote for @realityblurred about Cirie and her BB game. Please to enjoy, and thanks Andy Dehnart for the invitation/opportunity!

Day 98 - Tuesday - November 7, 2023

They made their breakfast and talked about having made it to the end, and they waited for Part 2 to start. Feeds went down for that from about 9.30am til 3.30pm. Jag won, surprising no one. Bowie joked(?) about Jag being back on the winning side and her back on the losing side, and she said several times "I'm a loser, a big fat loser" about herself in a sing-song voice. The comp sounded like it involved unscrambling season comp names and matching them to their correct sponsoring 'verse, and it seemed like both Bowie and Jag had some problems doing that. Each of them took over an hour to complete it.

Their Indian takeout dinner was delivered along with a skimpy booze delivery, and they enjoyed it. They toasted to themselves and then played drinking games after eating, along with gossiping about various jurors. I don't expect much to be happening on feeds at all before they end Thursday morning, except Jag assuring both Bowie and Matt that he'll take them to the final if he wins Part 3. It might be interesting to see if he continues leading them both on or not. The only way to save himself from betraying one of them at this point would be to either come clean to whichever one he'll cut, or to throw Part 3 to Matt and trust that he'd bring Jag. But who would throw the final HOH comp minutes before the jury casts its votes? I can't even. After drinks and games, Jag and Matt cuddled and bro'd out in Cory's bed for awhile, and Bowie eventually rejoined by piling on top of them. When they went off to their own beds, Bowie tried to get Jag to reaffirm his commitment to take her to F2. He tried hard to evade but finally, quietly said he would.

I have another new piece today I did for @realityblurred, this one about the twists and comps this season, and how both were lacking, in my opinion. Please to enjoy once again, and thanks Andy Dehnart for the invitation/opportunity once again!

Day 99 - Wednesday - November 8, 2023

Jag remained in visibly higher, and more conspiratorial, spirits when talking with Matt than Bowie. Over breakfast he came out and told Matt "I'm taking you" if he wins Part 3, and assurances to Bowie of the past couple weeks that he'd cut Matt for her were nowhere to be seen. As a trio they continued the same loops: it's their last full day, boasting about making it to the end, speculation about what Part 3 could be, and occasional rehashes. Plus they had a few convos about jurors, talking as if their heads were still in the game 24/7 like these three, and forgetting they've all had time to gain some perspective (which may or may not involve residual bitterness). F3s usually look at the photo wall and think of the jurors like that, but they rarely consider the final juror will have only a few minutes to recover, rather than days or weeks like the rest of the jury. These three were no exception to that. Plus they packed. It was the first time for Jag since the week after he was evicted and he was up against Red, the second time for Matt (his first packing was for Sunday's eviction), and the first time ever for Bowie.

They had two lockdowns that brought the adoptable anipals to us for probably the last times. For one they were in the bathroom and the other they were in HOH. There was no indication what that was about. Maybe they did the usual live show day tech rehearsal today, in two segments. Otherwise it was more of the same: mostly herding together as a trio, wrapping up their packing, and patting themselves on the backs. I didn't hear anything about tomorrow's speeches, other than they were told they have 45 seconds for them, or one minute 30 seconds - Matt and Bowie said both. Maybe they were all working on them in their heads, or maybe they'll be pointless boilerplate like most eviction Thursdays. Or maybe they'll be rambly messes? The popcorn crowd would appreciate that.

Bowie finally made a feeble sort-of pitch to Matt over dinner prep when Jag was in Diary. She said she didn't want to campaign against Jag and she'd said she wouldn't, but she probably should say something. That something turned out to be that her only selling point was she'll get zero jury votes, and "it's a lot of money." She giddily told them both they should all walk out tomorrow flashing their Mafia hand signal (but oops, they won't walk out together). She later pitched to Jag, again saying she thought she should, and that she trusted he'll take her and he shouldn't feel guilty about cutting Matt like he did when struggling about the Matt/Felicia vote, since Matt had a shot and will play Part 3. She stressed that Matt would win if he or Jag take each other. Jag said he hadn't thought about the aspect that Matt didn't have to worry about future regrets since he'd win against each of them. She also said she'd be happy with second place, Matt hadn't had to go out on any limbs for Jag, and that the decision was fair game now and neither of the guys owes the other. He hugged her, and cut her off to show her how to lay out solitaire. She went back to say she expected zero jury votes, and she named off the jurors and why each wouldn't vote for her. Jag sat alone contemplating afterwards, clearly thinking it all over again.

Matt and Jag later retold her pitches to each other. Yep, really. And they reiterated they were still going to take each other, "110%" with a handshake. But Jag may have been rattled to learn Bowie pitched to Matt, and he moved into scramble room with him. Maybe Jag didn't want Bowie and Matt to have another solo talk without him, or maybe he didn't want the proximity he and Bowie have had every night in scary room, where they've plotted against Matt for the past two weeks. Or maybe they just wanted togetherness for their last night. Either way, they asked Bowie to join them in scramble room, and she did.

Normally they're woken up on finale day to say goodbye to us around 9 or 10am, and then the feeds end for the season. It's been a long haul Hamsterwatchers, but we're almost done! But first, I'll be back one more time with a recap of the finale.

This was definitely not my favorite season. It was too long, too dry, and too chock-full of not much except gametalk. As you're surely aware by now, I'm here for the entertainment value, and there wasn't much of that. Cirie, Felicia, Izzy brought it regularly, together and separately, in various ways. Others made for fun feeds at times, and there was some good gaming that was compelling to watch, but not a lot. Most of the gametalk was overly repetitive and eventually pointless, but that's all they did. The episodes were often juvenile and more incomplete than usual, as far as providing a comprehensive picture of the house dynamics. And yes, I understand they need to compress a whole lot of content into 3x43-minute weekly episodes, and that's not easy. They still could have done better. Let's not even talk about the Diary segments they used, which gave us virtually nothing.

Feeds downtime wasn't as bad as some of the middle years, but it was worse than most relatively recent seasons. Feeds were blocked for too long before and after blockable events this season (never mind what's considered blockable), and we often had pointless three-hour and longer blocks after live shows. They could easily send out estimates or heads-ups for expected long outages but do they bother? No. I could go on but won't: we know what the problems are and so do they, and this season did relatively well in the ratings, usually placing first except when against football. So I guess that's good enough for The Powers That Be, and maybe there's no incentive to do better.

Of 16 eviction votes with 109 total votes cast, only 4 were dissenting. That's a problem. Of 16 vetos, only one was won by a woman. That's a problem. Three (THREE!) hamsters were evicted and then revived, and while I understand the need to drag everything out to the 100-day length meant to combat the lack of other programming due to the writers' and actors' strikes, we didn't need two "reset" weeks and a pointless double eviction to do that. Come up with something new. You can find more from me about the season's twists and comps at realityblurred.

Still, they brought us another season and they kept feeds on for it, unlike Canada. And while I may rant and rave about it all, I'm still grateful for that, and to each and every hamster for putting themselves out there for our amusement. Except Luke. (That's one thing they handled properly, and kudos for that.)

6th juror - 13th evicted - Day 96

She was a breath of fresh (sometimes farty) air, with no filters but always the ability to laugh at herself. She was loud, outspoken, kind, sometimes obnoxious, usually hilarious, with a full body cackle, often laughing with Cirie to the point of tears. At age 63, she didn't win physical comps but not for lack of trying, to the point of passing out in the spinny chair veto. She got slimed, solitary confinement, and stuck in a tandem kayak, but she was a good sport for all that. She cooked for them all season and usually cleaned up too, but the F3 shunned her in her last week. She wasn't Denzel's sister like Cameron thought, but she was the reason the fandom called Bowie FBJ all season. She and her lengthy shopping lists to Mister B will be missed. Smooches.
Update: We found out via eviction QAs she'd been told her brother passed in Week 9. Her family urged her to stay and keep playing, which she did obviously, but she kept that to herself and still soldiered on. Even more props and flowers to her!

5th juror - 12th evicted - Day 93

I didn't know her but soon realized her legendary status was well earned. She quietly drove the first part of the game, helped with secret intel from Jared and busy getaround by Izzy, and she was quickly liked and respected by all. Red's eviction lost Bowie from her side, and when Jared's messy gameplay got him evicted she seemed to lose motivation, but she rallied and got back in the game. She had no comp wins, instead playing a subtle but effective social game that kept her in almost to the end. It was great to see her and Izzy bond, and also fun to watch her on/off friendship with Felicia. The two of them brought laughter to the feeds daily, and I love them for that. More of my thoughts on Cirie & her game.

4th juror - 11th evicted - Day 86

She said she'd flirt and was willing to showmance, and she did, hooking up with Cory and later saying she'd surprised herself by developing feelings for him. Her game was often messy, as is often the case with feedster-hamsters, and she often said things she shouldn't to the wrong people, but she managed to escape consequences for that for a long time. She got annoyed at Cory more than once for gaming on her/their behalf without her. She had no wins but avoided eviction three times out of four noms, finally going out on the late season double. She was sometimes performative, especially when she talked about and re-created various iconic BB moments.

3rd juror - 10th evicted - Day 86

Her Diary persona couldn't have been more different than her everyday self, and it was jarring to see her posing and kitty-purring on the episodes after hearing her be relatively normal in the days between episodes. She talked a big game but didn't always have the comp or social skills to back it up, yet she managed to stick for quite awhile anyway, even though she was often a target for several. She and Jared had a more 'adult' showmance than America and Cory, and that's fine. She was let in on the biggest secret of the season but never let it slip to anyone, leading most of us to wonder if she even believed it, or maybe had forgotten.

2nd juror - 9th evicted - Day 79

He came in expecting to win without breaking a sweat, but he didn't count on others playing the game, and he went out with less than impressive stats. He said he'd downplay his BB scholar status but didn't. He was in gamebot mode 24/7 until he hooked up with America, and then he split his time between gaming and making out with her. That split focus may have caused him to let his guard down enough that he didn't realize they'd become everyone's target. He had a birthday, a makeover, and grew a mustache. He might have done better if he was a little older with some more life experience. His gametalk wore me out but I usually enjoyed his dry humor.

1st juror - 8th evicted - Day 72

Comp beast yes, but his social game was a disaster. He never tired of reminding them he was on the block or HOH every week, which didn't help reduce his target. He had two modes: cocky winner or gloomy loser, the former resulting in lengthy How To Play BB lectures that were transparently self-serving. He had peculiar attitudes towards/about both Reilly and America, and the only tight bond he formed was with Red. His lack of self-awareness was never more apparent than when he said 'Cory always has to be the smartest person in a room' - somebody buy this man a mirror.

7th evicted - Day 65

She laid low at the start, which can be good strategy, but then she stayed low throughout the middle game, which is not. She was a charter member of Professors but didn't adapt when it fell apart, and while she was well-liked by all, she didn't form strong bonds on the side like her fellow Brown Sugar Babes did. She put more effort into making her teacher job-lie convincing than she did in her BB game, but her semi-regular rants about the overall stupidity of everyone and the season made her a star for Team Fun Feeds.

Izzy could have ratted out his and Cirie's secret and didn't, but Jared mucked up a built-in advantage by continually doing and saying way too much. He hooked up with Blue and spilled his secret to her, but neglected to tell Cirie he had. His relationships with Blue and/or his (ex?) girlfriend are none of my business, but it was an ongoing and interesting side story. He got a free bonus week after he was evicted but failed to make it work for him. His and Cirie's mother-and-son moments were sweet and pure, and that's rare on any season.

5th evicted - Day 44

She clocked Cirie and Jared in a minute, and she quickly went from being a Cirie fan to a devoted ally and surrogate daughter. She made no secret of it and that didn't go unnoticed. She was often manic, chaotic, and cracked, and her animated conversations and limitless facial expressions became their own side game. She later calmed down under Cirie's mentorship and they drove the first half of the game, not always to their benefit. She was a never-a-dull-moment hamster and that's always good for fun feeds.

Won: 1 year P+ and home theater

HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 1

37 38 - Recruit - Has a girlfriend, 3 kids
Sales/TikTokker - Gatlinburg, TN

4th evicted - Day 37

He was a caricature of himself on the episodes but he was more genuine on feeds. His and Cameron's bromance was like some over-countrified afterschool special and when they broke up, the tinkly piano shifted to a broken banjo string twang. He said some inappropriate things, he provided baked goods, and he was a good sport about his birthday roast. He was a victim of the heavily layered and interwoven alliance mess, so this feller had to skedaddle back to hawkin' moonshine in Gatlinburg.

Won: Nothing

HOH 1 - Veto 2 - Noms 0/1/0 - HN 1

45 - Applicant - Divorced
Geriatric physician/burlesquer - Seattle, WA

3rd evicted - Day 23

He painted a target on himself by winning the first two vetos and the second HOH, and he knew that. He started out fun and lively but he got HOHitis so bad his own alliance orchestrated a blindside plan to put him up and out. His campaign pitches were painful, right? As he gave marathon speeches, right? In his soft breathy voice, right? To anyone he could corner for an hour, right? He was a superb comp host and game show emcee for one of the few group activities they did.

Won: Nothing

HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 0

24 - Recruit - Single
Bartender - Nashville, TN

2nd evicted - Day 16

Four people were already nominated when she won the first HOH and all she had to do was remove two. She spent most of the first days repeating she wanted an alliance of eight, which she eventually pulled together, with F2, F3, F4 along the way. She had it made but then found out everyone else knew about her eight and she spent the rest of her HOH week in tears. Then she hit the block and campaigned poorly, but at least she went out fighting.

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/1 - HN 0

25 - Recruit - Single
Molecular biologist - Houston, TX

1st evicted - Day 9

She was on the block when she started to pitch and double-dip, and you can't blame her for that. Being new to BB, that's what she'd seen on the shows, and most everyone else started doing the same thing right away anyway. But Kirsten became an easy scapegoat since she wasn't in their inner power circles. She would have been good feeds: she planned a scorching nominee speech, but then opted to go out classy and didn't use it.

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 1

30 - Survivor applicant - Single
Illustrator - Coral Springs, FL

Ejected Day 8

Between hamsters thinking he was a secret doctor and feedsters thinking he was a secret twin, his week was full of unintentional comedy. He added to that by not knowing the show or that the game had started without him, then he worked hard to join the game in progress, with no success. Then he dropped the n-word, and then he was gone.

GAME TWISTS

Week 1 BB Multiverse
-Losers of four move-in comps went on the block, and HOH Reilly saved two.

Week 2 Nether Region
-Inconsistent and vague. Individuals were sent to Nether Region for varying lengths of time, receiving 'something good or bad' and selecting the next one to go.
-Roster of who went and for how long is in the Extracurricular Items tally.

Week 4 Invincibility Power
-Viewers voted four to secretly compete for the power, which gave the winner the option to save the Week 4 or Week 5 evictee.
-Cirie, Cory, Jag, Matt competed, Matt won, and secretly used it to cancel Jag's eviction at the end of Week 4.

Week 8 Scary Week: Zombies
-No HOH, noms, or veto.
-Cameron, Jared were evicted on Day 51 double eviction, then sent back into the house as zombies.
-They did a 3-part comp and Cameron won the option to play or pass a live challenge.
-Cameron did the challenge, completed it, and was revived. Jared was evicted again.

Week 11 Comic Week
-Power of Invisibility: HOH's identity was secret, unless they chose to share. Jag won and eventually told everyone. He was allowed to play for the following HOH (which he won).
-Power of Multiplicity: There were two veto comps with two veto winners. Jag won the first, and Blue the second.
