Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 76 - Monday - October 16, 2023

Cory played some solo pool this morning and seemed like he might be a little stressed, and then he sat with chin in hands next to America as they waited for breakfast to be made and served. I don't think either of them knew yet that they were about to go on the block, but I think Cory definitely suspected. Last night he and America talked a little about the possibility of ending up on the block today, but it didn't seem to me they really believed they would, at least not together - or maybe they just didn't want to believe it. This morning all eight were cycled through Diary Room to keep up the invisible HOH farce (to finalize renom plans for the final pics pop up on the screen), even though everyone knew it was Jag. He could have made a big anonymous move this week and gotten away with it, but instead he'll end up with the bloodiest hands of the season, having put half the house on the block, and leaving the showmance survivor in the house with him. Before the veto meeting, Jag told Matt and Bowie he'll tell Cory and America "as superfans" he hoped they'll appreciate his move. They might, in time. Felicia left her tooth in a pocket and it went through the laundry.

As planned, Blue used her veto on herself and Jag used his on Felicia, and he "invisibly" replaced them with Cory and America. Apparently there was some immediate fallout afterwards but it was blocked from feeds, as has become typical this year. Feeds came back to Jag, Blue, Matt rehashing in Have-not, and America undercovers in bed. Bowie and Felicia joined the Have-not rehash, and Cirie took the opportunity to check on America who was crying, and to say she was sorry, give her a hug and offer availability if she wanted to talk. She said she'd heard the plan last night but didn't fully believe it, saying she thought it was a ruse for her (Cirie) to go up as renom against Felicia. Felicia did the same a bit later and gave America a peptalk, saying she'd been on the block five times and got in her feelings each time, but then rebounded to play the game. She told America don't stop playing, don't alienate people for when/if she's there next week, and not to sabotage herself. She also said "so don't say fuck off, just say I need a little bit more time." (America had told Jag "literally fuck off" earlier when he said to let him know when she wanted to talk.)

Cirie and Felicia talked about how involved Bowie seemed to be in on the plan, and tight with Jag and Matt. Cory met with Blue, Jag, Matt to rehash. America was asked to join but declined, and stayed in bed. Cory then talked to Matt alone and said he was in an awkward spot, as he wanted to stay and play but he cared more about America than about the game. He said he expected to go on the block with her at some point and while he didn't think it would be so soon, he wasn't as upset as he figured people expected he'd be. Cory spent some time in bed with America, who said "they did all this without fact checking." I don't know if their canoodling at the veto comp came up or not, but it didn't seem like it did. Yet. America said she wanted Cory to stay. Both said they cared about each other more than the game, but as both were big fans, it was a rough spot to be in. Cory said he couldn't go "scorched earth," she said "I can" and she said she'd dump out all milk jugs. But he warned her against doing anything that would raise her target if she stayed. Cory campaigned to Cirie, again explaining his awkward position, and she said it was awkward today but things would settle down. He told her about the group of five with him, America, Bowie, Jag, Matt and he said if America goes, Cirie would be his new number one. He said he'd hope for her, Felicia's and Bowie's votes.

Matt checked in with Cirie, and later Felicia to cover his own bases. Felicia, Bowie, Matt cleaned the kitchen and fridge, clearing up oozing puddles and tossing a lot of old, dead food, and they discovered the latest assault by Team Ants. Cory and Blue met on the bus stop bench, and her body language didn't change from indicating she was unreceptive for a full 20 minutes. She told Cory about America's convo with her saying she "didn't see a path forward" for them with Jag and Matt. Cory said America hadn't told him about that and asked if America had been that direct? (Yes, she was.) They rehashed some more, and each apologized for BSing each other about so much for so long, and Blue said she wasn't dead set on evicting Cory (though she probably was: see previous body language note). And Cory told her he thought Bowie was the new third for Jag and Matt, replacing Blue. Matt discovered his blue shorts had turned pink from spending time in the heavily-chlorinated pool and/or hot tub yesterday. Cirie and Felicia said they should take some pool water to clean the bathroom with.

America finally got out of bed for dinner, which she ate outside with Cirie. She stayed vertical, playing pool with Cory, and then she sat with Cirie some more and they laughed when America said she'd wanted to pour out all the milk and crush all the cookies. She spilled some info about past alliances etc and told Cirie that Cory had confirmed the Invincibility Power to her, and that Matt had told her ages ago that Cirie also won the viewer vote to play for that. And she said she would have nominated Jag and Matt but they beat her to it, and she felt it was her fault she and Cory were on the block. Cirie told her "pull up your big girl panties like I had to do with this dumb ass punishment" and not blame herself, hold her conversations, and get back in the game. America perked up talking about her and Cory's relationship and how they'd talked about pursuing it after BB, and she told Cirie she'd have her back "all the way to the end" if she stays. Cory gave Felicia a lengthy rehash and pitch in the hammock, and she finally said "I have always felt like I can't totally trust what you say.. I want to believe you but I know you're good at what you do." Jag and Matt discussed how they could stay good with everyone going forward, and Jag suggested formalizing an alliance with Bowie, Cirie, Felicia.

Rehashes, plans, gossip, and griping carried on. It's only Monday, the fandom is in shambles (and very vocal about it), and I'm pacing myself this week, so I checked out early.

Day 77 - Tuesday - October 17, 2023

Last night, Cory told us he figured he'd just gotten greedy, thinking he could focus on both the showmance and the game. And Cirie and Felicia had a very lengthy strategy session that included Cirie reminding Felicia they must never forget that Matt saved Jag with his power, and that they were tighter than tight. This morning Cirie went out to sleep/nap in the hammock around 7am, and later asked Matt if America had pitched to him or Jag yet and he said no. Cirie said "it was okay for everyone else though" [to go on the block] and Matt said "it's like it's her show." Blue and Felicia agreed they needed to stop bashing Bowie around Jag and Matt. Cory made another pitch to Matt that included saying if he stays and wins HOH, he'd probably put up Jag and Matt, adding "the reality is I don't want either of you to go home, I want you guys to keep having this experience." Okay. Matt retold that pitch to Jag and Cirie in his Have-not office, and he also said he didn't think Cory and America would last after BB, adding she had a "cheating vibe." Cory retold his Matt pitch to America, and told her he's Jag and Matt's target. She got sniffly and said "it's because of something I did" and Cory said "it's the game." They posed for a tragic movie poster, the first of several throughout the day, and then America rejoined the game by sitting down with Blue to rehash.

They talked at the bus stop bench and rehashed intermingled personal and game stuff. Blue said "at the end of the day, you're still my girl" and America said "I don't know.. but the whole thing is you're good with Matt and Jag now, do you really think they're gonna take you to the [final] three? I know their plan is Cirie and Felicia." Blue said "totally totally, I'm playing my game and ultimately I'm proud of how I'm playing my game, whether that includes them or not, that's my business and not yours, right?" Oof. Blue also said she was sorry her veto win and this week "comes at the expense of you and Cory." America said the nomination hit different because she was blindsided, and she said Bowie told her she hadn't known about it. Blue said "oh no she knew, she was excited about it, she seemed giddy about it." Oof again. Blue said she hoped they could hang out and get drunk in New York together when they go home. Meanwhile Jag finally got off the slip 'n slide train, all of them agreeing they'd had several physical comps in a row so it probably wouldn't happen this week. But he got back on the stay or fold comp, and how they should play that one.

The middle size table was installed, and they sat down around it to test it out, like they do every year. It should have been in place for the F8 noms but at least it finally arrived. We haven't seen many of Cirie's superhero tasks but this afternoon she was told to stay in the pool for two hours. I don't know how that ties in to superheroism, but she settled into her watermelon tube to do her time. America sat with her to talk about the state of things before moving on to campaign to Bowie. Elsewhere Cory ran another campaign pitch to Felicia, which she later told Jag about, and they rehashed again, and Felicia revved up her anti-Bowie campaign again. Cirie finished her two hours in the pool, and was immediately tasked with doing 100 laps in the backyard. Cory campaigned to Bowie from the shower, saying he'd been "hearing some weird shit" and wanted to verify before bringing it to her, but he told her all or most of it anyway, which was mostly anti-Jag/Matt rehashes/retells.

Bashing and trashing carried on in various pockets, like it does. I figured they'd pause that long enough to eat at the new table together but when dinner was served, Cirie took her plate out to the backyard. They told her there were enough chairs at the new table but she said she was fine, and she said to herself out there "they're all full of shit, every last one of them, and every last one of them talk about how the next one is full of shit, I cant take it anymore." Blue followed her out, and Jag and Matt also went out there to eat, so if she went out there for some solitude and peace, she didn't get it. Cory told Felicia that Bowie came to him to say this and that, which wasn't the case if he was referring to the shower convo, but whatever. Everyone's taking aim at everyone else and it's often getting ugly, and that in turn generates uglier commentary in the fandom, and the vicious self-perpetuating BB cycle keeps cycling. But you knew that already. I think it's really kicked off this week because a lot of people feel strongly pro- or anti-Cory, America, and their showmance. I am once again closing shop early, for the reasons Cirie said.

Day 78 - Wednesday - October 18, 2023

There had been some whispers about keeping Cory rather than America as a shield against the combined Jag/Matt comp threat, but this Waffle Wednesday might not materialize. Bowie retold Cory's pitch to her to Cirie, and to Felicia, and they compared his stories. Bowie told Cirie she thought Cory was "just making shit up" and Cirie asked her about a girls' F5 plan she'd heard about and she wondered why nobody had mentioned it to her. Felicia told Bowie that Cory had suggested that she lie to Bowie about being in a Cory/Felicia/Matt/Jag F4 that planned to target America first, then Bowie. At the same time, Cory donned his pink finale suit to pitch to Cirie, introducing himself as Cory Wurtenberger, attorney at law. And he gave an appropriate nod to Canada S10 winner Kevin Jacobs, who'd done a similar skit/tactic at one point. Cory said "my job is very simple, to help my clients.. I need three clients this week." And he told her "Bowie came to me yesterday, pretty hot" (reminder: Cory approached Bowie), and he added "she is, at the least, terribly paranoid."

Felicia retold her Bowie chat to Cirie, and that Cory had brought Felicia into things, adding "he's a Cameron" and "willing to tell bold-faced lies." Cirie also mentioned the "girls thing" and that nobody had brought it to her. Felicia said she'd actually suggested that a couple weeks ago but thought it was dead. Felicia told Cory she talked to Cirie last night and "we're not gonna do it" (keep him). He said he talked to Cirie again this morning so re-check with her, "she seemed onboard-onboard." America finally sat down with Jag, who opened with "I know you want to murder me in this game and probably in real life." Both laughed, she mentioned her "literally fuck off" and her "dumbass veto speech, you could have told me," and she apologized for the "fuck off." They did a full rehash of course, and she said she now understood bitter jurors. They also laughed about the whole situation being "classic Unreliables," referring to their early part-joke/part-real alliance with Cory.

Cory made another pitch to Felicia, who said if he has her and Cirie, who's the third vote he expected? He said Bowie, but her vote was contingent on Felicia and Cirie agreeing to keep him. (No.) A little later he talked to us from the backyard balcony and said he was pretty sure he was done, "90% cooked" (accurate). He rehashed the season and his place in various events, and said he'd had a good time and thought he'd played a pretty good game overall. He said he knew going in as a social introvert would be hard and he didn't expect his time there to go as well or as long as it had. He congratulated his haters on his imminent demise, and he said he was aware of his strengths and weaknesses, one of those being not having the ability to put people at ease. He mentioned Dr Will and Dan in that context, but not Cirie. He has in the past made comments about how good she makes everyone feel after talking with her, even if she wasn't actually with them at the time. And he said he thought Matt was playing the best overall game. America sniffled whenever she was with him, saying "it's so sad," but she perked up when campaigning here and there. Cirie told her Cory would be going, and America said she wouldn't put up Cirie or Felicia if she stays and wins HOH.

America finally had a rehash with Matt, and at the same time Cory made a pitch to Bowie. Bowie then reported to Jag that Cory had said Jag told Felicia he'd put up Bowie and Blue. Jag said "that's not true," he'd only said America's the next target, and nobody had said Bowie/Blue as potential noms. Bowie said she was worried she was going to be cut by Jag/Matt/Cirie, adding "that's not fair," and she said it wasn't a good look for Jag and Matt to be hanging out with Cirie and Felicia in comic room (they did that last night). And she said it was like the Izzy era when people would stop talking or leave when she joined a room, and she fought back tears and said she hadn't cried since then. Cory told America he did tell Bowie that Jag said he wanted Felicia to nominate Blue and Bowie. And he told America "if it's your choice, I think Matt has to go before Jag" and said Matt was "the best player in the house by far." And he said he wasn't so sure about America locking with Cirie and Felicia because they've had a lot of F3s so far and turned on them all. Meanwhile Felicia and Cirie agreed that America was probably sincere in wanting to work with them, but Cirie added she wanted to know what America had said to Matt. Cory and America ate dinner on the backyard balcony as the rest of them compared conflicting Cory stories inside. Everlasting rehashes ensued, of course.

As of this evening, Cory will be meeting Julie tomorrow, and then we'll start another new cycle of mess.

Ratings - Comic Week exquisite edition

Ratings are my suggestions for comics concepts - arrows are based on entertainment value

BB Comics art by Tom Nguyen @tomnguyenart - Concepts by BB production

Noms count: original/renom/twist

Props to Julie for playing along so well with the 'exquisite' game. Matt had asked for ideas for a new compliment word to give her when voting and when 'exquisite' was suggested, they all decided to go with it. Julie didn't miss a beat and it all turned out to be a fun variation of the usual routine voting segment. I'm curious if Julie ad libbed that or if she'd been given a heads-up about it, and whether it told her those Thursday compliments are basically hollow, since they were planned out before they even saw her Casual Thursday look. And I wonder why Cory lied to the rest of them about being the only non-exquisite one.

The down arrow is for not including a secrecy requirement for the invisible HOH twist this week. Since it's a well-known fact nobody in there can keep their traps shut about anything, the huge potential for fun feeds and paranoia fell flat when Jag told all but two of them it was him, and before noms. And I think it would have been a much better twist earlier in the season when there were more of them.

Won: Dinner guest

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/1/0 - HN 2

27 - Applicant - Single
Medical receptionist - Brooklyn NY

Night-Merica

I'd have had her be Kiss of Death. She's talked about her former bad kissing and 'washing machine' technique a lot, and it's been used on the show, along with her ongoing smak-smakking with Cory, so this could have been a cute comic with various lethal lip-lock consequences included in the panel.

Won: $1,000; Movie guest

HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 3/0/0 - HN 1

25 - Recruit - Single
Brand strategist - New York, NY

Kitty Kitty Purr

Kitty Kitty Purr was fine, though getting a bit tired and stale by now, but the comic looks terrific and very much like her. But I think I'd have gone with something like Kitty Two-Face since her Diary persona is so completely opposite from her day-to-day persona. And two-face characters are a staple for comics, right?

Won: Netherland Day 11; a pressure cooker

HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 2

45 46 - Applicant - Single
Barrister/DJ - Los Angeles, CA

The Bowie-Rang

Enough with the Australian stereotypes and puns! She's from down under, we get it. My suggestion is Unbothered Boss. She's mostly been uninvolved in the ongoing alliance stew, and has been on the outskirts when she was part of it, but does she care? NAUR! She's just happy to be there. Comics were surely decided before her HOH week but when it came down to business, she's the one who got out everyone's #1 threat. Like a boss.

Won: Dinner guest; Invincibility vote; 48 hours kayak with Felicia; 1 week Superhero suit and tasks

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 1

53 - Recruit/stuntcast - Married, 3 sons
Surgical director
Norwalk, CT

Robe-Bot

I actually love Robe-bot for her, especially since so many people take issue with her constant robe-wearing (I'm looking at you, Evel Dick!) But hey she's just hanging around 'home' for 100 days and it's cold in there, so why not be comfy? She fondly called it Ol' Gray Girl when she was stuck in the kayak and said she couldn't wait to get back into it.

Won: Netherland Day 1; Invincibility vote

HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/1/1 - HN 3

21 22 - Applicant/stuntcast - Single
College student - Ft Lauderdale, FL

Alba-Cory

I don't even understand Alba-cory, and I'm fond of albacore tuna. Game-bot would have made two robot comics along with Cirie's, but it's the only thing 100% applicable for him, in my opinion. I don't like showmances but I'm glad he gets a little downtime with America because otherwise he wouldn't take any breaks at all from his constant scenario-running, stats-reciting, and all the rest.

Won: 24 18 hours slimings; Dinner guest; 48 hours kayak with Cirie; 24 hrs solitary

HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 4/0/1 - HN 1

63 - Applicant - Married, 1 son
Real estate agent - Kennesaw, GA

Kayak Attack

She was great in the kayak but how could they not have gone with Cackling Cooker? She could bonk enemies with frying pans and strangle them with streamers of her long shopping lists, loudly laughing with her entire body all the while.

Won: $8,500; Netherland Day 10; Week 2 immunity; 1 week chicken suit; Invincibility vote; Day 30 revival; Movie guest

HOH 1 - Veto 4 - Noms 2/1/0 - HN 1

25 - Applicant - Single
Truck company owner/realtor - Omak, WA

Cock-a-Doodle Zoom

Jag suggested the Turbanator himself on feeds some time ago and it seemed a slam dunk, but they went with the chicken suit. Fair enough, but they could have included that in the panel too, as he used the long ends of his turbans like a bullwhip to take out his enemies. Maybe they figured it would be controversial or offensive and if so, fair enough. He did make a good chicken.

Won: Invincibility vote and power; 1 week 5 days Duhamel-a-maniac; Movie guest

HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 2

27 - Recruit - Single
Deaflympics gold medalist - Baton Rouge, LA

Pool-Tergeist

NOBODY needed a reminder of Paulie peeing in the pool (hot tub). Ever again. I'd have gone with something like The Principal since he took over the Have-not room ages ago as his personal office to have talks and meetings. His comic could have included people being 'sent to the principal's office' where they'd meet their doom in a doggie bed.

Won: Europe trip; 1 week 5 days piggy suit; 2000 cups of dirt with Izzy; 1 week post-eviction zombie; Zombie advantage; Day 58 revival; Movie screening with 3 guests

HOH 3 - Veto 2 - Noms 3/2/0 - HN 0

Stay-at-home dad - Eastman, GA

1st juror - 8th evicted - Day 72

The Hair Raiser

Comp beast yes, but his social game was a disaster. He never tired of reminding them he was on the block or HOH every week, which didn't help reduce his target. He had two modes: cocky winner or gloomy loser, the former resulting in lengthy How To Play BB lectures that were transparently self-serving. He had peculiar attitudes towards/about both Reilly and America, and the only tight bond he formed was with Red. His lack of self-awareness was never more apparent than when he said 'Cory always has to be the smartest person in a room' - somebody buy this man a mirror.

Won: Dinner with 3 guests

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 1

30 - Applicant - Newlywed
Political consultant - Upper Marlboro, MD

7th evicted - Day 65

Mecolamity

She laid low at the start, which can be good strategy, but then she stayed low throughout the middle game, which is not. She was a charter member of Professors but didn't adapt when it fell apart, and while she was well-liked by all, she didn't form strong bonds on the side like her fellow Brown Sugar Babes did. She put more effort into making her teacher job-lie convincing than she did in her BB game, but her semi-regular rants about the overall stupidity of everyone and the season made her a star for Team Fun Feeds.

Won: Netherland Day 9; 1 week post-eviction zombie

HOH 2 - Veto 1 - Noms 1/0/1 - HN 2

25 - Applicant/stuntcast - Single
Exterminator - Norwalk, CT

6th evicted - Day 58

Muffin Hands

Izzy could have ratted out his and Cirie's secret and didn't, but Jared mucked up a built-in advantage by continually doing and saying way too much. He hooked up with Blue and spilled his secret to her, but neglected to tell Cirie he had. His relationships with Blue and/or his (ex?) girlfriend are none of my business, but it was an ongoing and interesting side story. He got a free bonus week after he was evicted but failed to make it work for him. His and Cirie's mother-and-son moments were sweet and pure, and that's rare on any season.

Won: 1 week 5 days piggy suit; 2000 cups of dirt with Cameron

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 2

32 - Applicant - Has a girlfriend
Flutist - New York, NY

5th evicted - Day 44

Dizzy Izzy

She clocked Cirie and Jared in a minute, and she quickly went from being a Cirie fan to a devoted ally and surrogate daughter. She made no secret of it and that didn't go unnoticed. She was often manic, chaotic, and cracked, and her animated conversations and limitless facial expressions became their own side game. She later calmed down under Cirie's mentorship and they drove the first half of the game, not always to their benefit. She was a never-a-dull-moment hamster and that's always good for fun feeds.

Won: 1 year P+ and home theater

HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 1

37 38 - Recruit - Has a girlfriend, 3 kids
Sales/TikTokker - Gatlinburg, TN

4th evicted - Day 37

The Chill-Billy

He was a caricature of himself on the episodes but he was more genuine on feeds. His and Cameron's bromance was like some over-countrified afterschool special and when they broke up, the tinkly piano shifted to a broken banjo string twang. He said some inappropriate things, he provided baked goods, and he was a good sport about his birthday roast. He was a victim of the heavily layered and interwoven alliance mess, so this feller had to skedaddle back to hawkin' moonshine in Gatlinburg.

Won: Nothing

HOH 1 - Veto 2 - Noms 0/1/0 - HN 1

45 - Applicant - Divorced
Geriatric physician/burlesquer - Seattle, WA

3rd evicted - Day 23

Ha-Ha Hisam

He painted a target on himself by winning the first two vetos and the second HOH, and he knew that. He started out fun and lively but he got HOHitis so bad his own alliance orchestrated a blindside plan to put him up and out. His campaign pitches were painful, right? As he gave marathon speeches, right? In his soft breathy voice, right? To anyone he could corner for an hour, right? He was a superb comp host and game show emcee for one of the few group activities they did.

Won: Nothing

HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 0

24 - Recruit - Single
Bartender - Nashville, TN

2nd evicted - Day 16

Nashvillain

Four people were already nominated when she won the first HOH and all she had to do was remove two. She spent most of the first days repeating she wanted an alliance of eight, which she eventually pulled together, with F2, F3, F4 along the way. She had it made but then found out everyone else knew about her eight and she spent the rest of her HOH week in tears. Then she hit the block and campaigned poorly, but at least she went out fighting.

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/1 - HN 0

25 - Recruit - Single
Molecular biologist - Houston, TX

1st evicted - Day 9

Curse-Sten

She was on the block when she started to pitch and double-dip, and you can't blame her for that. Being new to BB, that's what she'd seen on the shows, and most everyone else started doing the same thing right away anyway. But Kirsten became an easy scapegoat since she wasn't in their inner power circles. She would have been good feeds: she planned a scorching nominee speech, but then opted to go out classy and didn't use it.

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 1

30 - Survivor applicant - Single
Illustrator - Coral Springs, FL

Ejected Day 8

Gone, forgotten

Between hamsters thinking he was a secret doctor and feedsters thinking he was a secret twin, his week was full of unintentional comedy. He added to that by not knowing the show or that the game had started without him, then he worked hard to join the game in progress, with no success. Then he dropped the n-word, and then he was gone.
