Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 6 - Monday - August 7, 2023

Being a musician, Izzy discovered earlier than most seasons do that the hammock cords can be plucked to make bassy tones, which she played well, impressing nearby bystanders. Many of them are still staying up very very late, whispering and scrambling. Overnight/early morning news included more marathon gametalk sessions including Blue/Cameron/Matt, plus Jag/Reilly, plus Cameron/Red establishing a tentative working relationship, plus Cirie/Luke with Luke saying after learning he was out of the loop and being targeted, he's now in the game, in the deep, and on the warpath. Jag reported to Blue/Matt/Jared over breakfast that at some point "the voice came on and said 'you are not allowed to talk about..'" I don't know what the topic was or if they got the clip forbidding Diary Room sessions or movie dialogue or what, but Jag made it sound like they got in serious trouble. He and the rest will get used to hearing those scoldings. And yet another alliance was born: Cirie, Felicia, Mecole, Jared formed Brown Sugar Babes.

Hisam did not use his veto, leaving Felicia and Kirsten on the block. Cory and Hisam had a whispery gametalk and discussed recruiting Luke to work with them, which was interesting since Cory and Hisam are definitely not fans of each other. Luke continued making pitches to various individuals, admitting his ignorance to what's been going on and saying he felt like the kid picked last for teams on the playground. (He probably isn't used to that.) Red told him the upstairs group isn't stable, Luke said "sloppy as fuck," but he wasn't as perceptive when Red told him Jag was smart and probably running the upstairs group, responding "is he? He's just kinda there and makes jokes." Cameron gave Izzy a hard pitch to join up with him, mansplaining BB and this season, like he does, and saying he wants to be with people he trusts and is comfortable with, rather than being the calming person and dad figure. Izzy immediately reported all that to Cirie and Felicia, like she does. Cameron's probably(?) just shmoozing with all these getaround pitches, and sniffing out info, especially after looking like a cult leader last night preaching the gospel of BB25 to his disciples gathered 'round his feet.

They got a delivery of patterned hoodies with their names on them, and Team Ants was spotted in the yard, ready to begin their annual assault. Cirie and Izzy brought in Cory for a side alliance, sealed with a hug. Izzy visited Reilly and said maybe they should all "cut the bullshit" since everyone knows the division between the two sides, and they also ended with a hug after agreeing to look out for each other in future. Both of them immediately retold that convo to various others, like they do. Kirsten made a couple campaign-ish stops. She didn't actually campaign to Jared that I heard, but she did say something about thinking of "what benefits your game" to Red. Apparently her veto meeting speech included something about people talking about her behind her back, and she told Jared that part was about Izzy. Jared told Felicia that Reilly was the ringleader upstairs, and Jag was loyal to her. Cameron preached his BB expertise some more, Reilly cried some more, Cameron said she reminds him of his daughter some more, and a leaky mess was discovered in the kitchen trash bin when it oozed out onto the floor.

Cameron and Izzy had a followup meeting and laid out rules of agreement, or something. Both of them are such nonstop talkers it gets hard to follow but eventually they shook hands on working together, after much prefacing from Izzy about what a handshake means to her, and she said about the upstairs group "I want to fuck them up, that's what I want!" Jared joined them and was immediately inducted into their agreement. Cameron finally left, Cirie joined, and got a full report from Izzy and Jared. Izzy said it made her so mad when Cameron rattled off the names of the downstairs group - I guess she thought that was a secret? Cirie said "we knew that, I've been telling you that." I don't think Cameron's serious, more just covering his bases and trying to get in good with both sides, but we'll see. I don't think Izzy's serious about working with Cameron either but even if she was, she'll shift again. And again. Cirie explained to Jared and to Izzy how best to calm the other down when they get worked up. Masterful.

Cameron, with Red, pitched a "brawns and brain" alliance plan to Hisam which would include the three of them plus Bowie, Cory, Jared, Izzy, Cirie, Felicia, Mecole for a total of ten. TEN! He had reasons for each name but I'll spare you that nonsense. He said the only people who "couldn't" win HOH going forward would be Blue, America, Reilly, Matt, Jag (his original Handful alliance plus America). The kicker is that totals 15 hamsters, leaving Luke out in the cold again/still, and after all his hard work today. A hot tub party had kicked off in the yard and feedmasters finally joined them for awhile for a bit of lighter fare. Hisam, with Red, reported Cameron's pitch to Cirie and Izzy, and they agreed they didn't need it, they'd just roll with the seven Professors "and give them the education they need from the BB university."

Mecole told Cory she's been seeing all these deep group convos but she's not been part of them, and she wondered if it's due to being close with Kirsten. Cory said he thinks she's good, that he often hears people are comfortable with her. Later Mecole gave Kirsten a peptalk, and told her she should have studied and prepared better, it isn't Love Island. And she said Kristen had been looking sad and people have noticed. Izzy joined, Mecole left, Hisam joined, and he gave Kirsten good encouragement, and told her to mingle and socialize and just be herself. Cirie pointed out to Felicia that they hadn't actually been asked into the new Cameron alliance, but Hisam and Red had brought Cameron to her and "let me know that [Cameron]'s now with us." She said their seven was solid for now but later on, "Red's bringing good ol' boy" and they have to protect Jared "because what's gonna happen to us?" Felicia said "that's why behind the scenes we have the Brown Sugar Babes, and they will never know about that." Hisam told Luke, with Izzy present, that he would have been the renom if the veto was used, and that Reilly was pushing for him to be next week's target. Cirie and Mecole compared notes on the Cameron situation, and agree he'd played Red and was attempting to play all of them by just moving from one group to the other.

Day 7 - Tuesday - August 8, 2023

Overnight tidbits included Cameron rambling at Reilly to throw herself on the mercy of Cirie and Felicia and tell all, and Cirie saying she was approached/recruited to be on the show. This morning Jared talked about his exterminating job to Felicia and Izzy, saying he's more on the customer service side than spraying. Team Ants celebrated, and rallied. Izzy and Mecole told Hisam about Red being a snake and ratting them out to Cameron, which led to Cameron deciding to join them. Hisam said that broke his heart but they'd be okay without Red. Hisam then met with Cirie and Felicia about it and when Red approached, Hisam asked if he thinks Cameron's legit? Red said "yeah I do" but of course they didn't believe him. Felicia asked Hisam outright who he'd like to go to the end with and he said "y'all" and Felicia said "what did I tell you this morning?" to Cirie. Hisam/Felicia and Felicia/Cirie fist-bumped on that, and Hisam said how great it would be if they beat out all the kids.

Kirsten practiced her speech in the mirror and if she goes through with it, it will kick off the Nominee Speech Scorchers section of the tally. She planned to include "selfish lying snakes" and "Miss Felicia is the ultimate pawn, if you're sitting next to her next week you're going home." I appreciate that she plans to go out fighting but she'll need to get some of this out in the open before Thursday night if she hopes it to go anywhere. She did say she'd wear snake earrings today. Blue led a yoga class with most of them, as Cameron, Cory, Cirie, Jared lounged and chatted nearby. Cory told a lengthy story about having testicular torsion and surgery, with more detail than anyone needed.

Jared met with Reilly, a marathon session. Reilly told him about Izzy's pitch to "cut the bullshit" yesterday, and she asked if Jared talks to her at all. He said "I'm starting to, I'm starting to." He said for now they all need to "go after the floaters: Bowie, Luke..[pause].. Red" so the Cirie/Professors anti-Red campaign has kicked off. More comedy came along with Jared saying he felt like Cirie and Felicia are his moms. Cirie and Kirsten attempted a clear-the-air convo and rehashed various things that have been said, and heard, and how they were said, with a lot of references to respect and disrespect, with Izzy in the middle offering contributions here and there. And there was a lot of "I don't want to name names" - recall Kirsten told Jared that a reference to "some people" in her veto speech was about Izzy. The whole convo didn't seem to solve anything. Cirie said even at 53 years old, she doesn't snippy-talk her mother, and she asked Kirsten to "give me the same respect you give to Miss Felicia or the same respect you'd give to your auntie."

Blue told Jag that Jared knew Izzy and Hisam were next week's prospective nominees, and they couldn't understand who leaked that. Jag said he couldn't understand how Jared knew that. And Jag and Blue discussed teaming up with Hisam, without Reilly, and Blue suggested Jag use a pitch that they want to prevent a white hetero season winner. Jag reported the news leak to Reilly and again, both wondered how Jared would know that. (That particular leak could have been from any number of people including Cameron or more likely, Reilly herself.) Jag said they're fine, they still have their eight, and Reilly said "Do we have our eight? Do we??" She also said the other side looks at her as the "ringleader of something that was equally created" (nevermind her saying she wanted to build an eight person alliance a zillion times), and she said this whole two sides split was uncomfortable (but inevitable when she built an alliance including half the house.) Meanwhile Cameron sermonized to Cory, and said "it's not like I want to create a super alliance with ten people," he just wanted to mitigate some of the damage that's been done. Huh, are we sure about that?

Matt told Kirsten he's getting annoyed because he felt some don't care if he hears them or not, and said he's been told "it was nothing, don't worry about it" when he's asked for convo recaps. Later he said Luke had done that. Jared and Cory had a lengthy gametalk, and seemed like they'd be a good working team (well, good for Cory for now - it'd be a side team for Jared). Reilly cried to Cirie about being called the ringleader, she felt like an outsider, she doesn't feel she can just hang out alone in her room, and etc etc. Cirie comforted her like a boss, like a mom, and got Reilly to shift to cry-laughing and then laughing. But she started up again, and Cirie told her everyone's paranoid, Reilly just needed to chill, relax in her room and ignore the doorbell, "stop doing this to yourself," and "get out of your head." She didn't say Reilly should be glad she got what she wanted this week (Kirsten's exit), but Cirie wouldn't say that because she's too good at handling people. But somebody should tell her that.

Reilly must have taken Cirie's advice because she was absent for a few hours, and scrambling settled down everywhere. Hamsters hung out in large and small groups to just chat, and then reformed in other groups to chat some more. There seemed to be some flirty tones between Blue and Jared, and Kirsten and Matt. Luke told Kirsten how he thought she'd gone wrong, and said he'd had to learn how to play the game this week. Matt said he's going to try to make the Hungary team for the 2024 Paris Olympics, via his family heritage. Izzy and Hisam talked about pronouns and protocols, and afterwards Felicia said she'd learned from that and appreciated it. Bowie laid down on the bathroom floor for awhile (ick) and later Matt joined her (more ick). Plans for evening hamster Olympics were discussed (but the yard was closed), and there will also be cooking later for the Have-nots to end their famine. So the nonstop gametalking by all of them all the time is on a short hiatus and I for one am grateful.

Hisam taught and led a group game of Zip Zap Zop, but it didn't last long. Matt didn't play because it was a vocal cues game and Kirsten sat down with him. Izzy, who'd been relatively calm today, revved up a bit talking to Bowie. Time will tell if she'll keep spinning again, or maybe she (and we) will have a calm night. She had a little fun by asking Luke if he's a doctor and he replied without skipping a beat "yeah, Dr Valentine, welcome to my clinic." Reilly did indeed have a nap and then a lengthy Diary session, but went right back to poor-me tears in HOH. Later talk made it sound like maybe she broke down in front of everyone before going upstairs again. Cameron sermonized at her with his cult leader-esque calm, creepy, monotone voice and motivational cliches, but this time they had an echo on quads because they were out of synch again. It was a lot to take and once again, it didn't help Reilly at all. The yard opened again, with a lot of talk about how upset Reilly was, but she eventually went downstairs to get something to eat, wearing sunglasses to hide her puffy eyes, and joking a little too loudly about being an emotional wreck.

Cirie and Felicia cooked up a feast, midnight rolled around, everyone hollered, and the Have-not guys got to eat.

Hamster Olympics didn't happen, like so many pre-planned hamster activities. Gametalk remained small, with Cory and Mecole having their now-regularly scheduled nightly check-in, Cory had a check-in with Luke; Kirsten had a campaign talk with Blue - their first conversation; and Kirsten also had a campaign chat with Hisam, which had a rough start when he made her wait. Jag took off his turban and got squeals about his long hair. Felicia got right in it and said "you know you're balding, right?" He said yes, he has alopecia so he's patchy all over. She said she has it too, and has been touching up her head more often in there than she normally does at home.

The [former] Have-not guys were in their room and Luke was bouncing around being slightly manic. He said something about talking to Texas and Jared asked who? Luke said America, he calls her Texas. And he said "we were in the fuckin cheese room, n**** -- dude, I'm sorry, anyways we were in the fuckin cheese room.." and he rambled on with whatever the rest of it was. Flashback 8/9/23 1.01am. Hisam and Cory were visibly stunned. Cory told Luke he needs to go to bed, and feeds cut to the colo vortex. Later Jared said "situations like that make white people more uncomfortable than Black people" and Luke said "I'm in trouble."

Day 8 - Wednesday - August 9, 2023

Starting my morning catchup, I heard Izzy tell Jared "yeah that's not cool, that's not the word to use, just don't speak" and Jared replied "and that's it, just shut the fuck up!" Naturally I thought this was about Luke's n-word but no, they were talking about Cameron. As I was about to look into that, and who had said what about Luke, feeds went to adoptable anipals at 11.37am and CBS released a statement saying Luke was removed from the house. Well done, CBS and production! So anipals would be to inform the rest of them (assuming they didn't know yet), pack his things, and maybe tell them if/how this will affect tomorrow's eviction? Recall that Paloma's early exit last year caused the first eviction to be cancelled. We'll find out.

It turned out Izzy and Jared were talking about Cameron injecting himself into others' life stories as if he could relate to them, and in particular in this case, Izzy being lesbian. Izzy called Cameron "an egotistical cult leader" and she said Hisam had told her about Luke's bomb. She also talked with Hisam about having learned the two of them were being talked about for noms, presumably by Cameron, and she said it was because they're LGBTQ. If anything else was said by anyone about Luke's bomb, I didn't hear it or hear about it. But that would be the kind of thing they'd block, at least until production met this morning to discuss the situation. Also this morning, I guess Red was telling some livestock story, and Cory told him about his testicular torsion and surgery, adding "in a way I was neutered, yeah kind of awesome, me and your pig."

Feeds stayed down all day/evening and are still down as of 9.30pm, with no updates from production. They may stay down til after Thursday's show airs. When they do come back, I'll carry on here as usual.

Ratings - Off and Running

Ratings are Tuesday's, based on entertainment value

Noms count: original/renom/twist

The episodes are probably going to be too campy and corny for many of us, which is a shame when they have such a complex game already underway, with both good and bad gamers already so layered and interwoven together, and being so very messy about it. I'm cautiously optimistic about the season, and I only say that because I've liked some casts overall early on in the past, and then later I didn't.

Easy upgrade to ups for doing the right thing and ejecting Luke, and swiftly. And for letting us know about it immediately. It's a new era.

She isn't on feeds for huge chunks of each day, which is ironic since she is a feedster (one of us! one of us!) Whenever someone says 'I need to talk to America' I expect them to start camtalking at us, and I wonder if I'll get used to that. It'll also be confusing when Julie says 'America voted for..' and that'll just get worse if they have viewer votes.

I don't see her all that much, except when Reilly, Jag, and assorted others on their side are holding meetings. I got tired of repeatedly hearing about her tattoos on the first night but she made up for that by destroying a perfectly good Digiorno pizza with Bowie and Jag, all of them in hysterics.

She's having a nice time and she seems to be liked well enough by most if not all of them. That may not sound like much but with a house full of over-playing hamsters painting huge targets on their own backs, it could be enough to stick around for a very long time.

A raging case of HOHitis isn't unusual except when they aren't actually HOH. This guy is the self-appointed supreme expert of all things BB and this season, and that shtick has already gotten old. Also, I need him to stop saying Reilly's like his daughter, it's creepy.

I don't watch Survivor but have of course heard her origin story, and I'm highly impressed watching her operate. She's continuously but subtly giving a masterclass in how to play a game like this, while being wildly entertaining at the same time. We haven't had a combo like that since Dr Will.

He's good with both sides but he's at the bottom of both hierarchies so he'll have to do some fast-talking to stay afloat. But he's got that skill and proved it when he talked Reilly into saving him rather than target him like she'd planned. Still, is it wise to keep talking about being a speech guy in this game?

He knows the game better than he lets on, and he's shared some moving personal stories. It's possible he'll be the nursing home cat of the season, sticking to and comforting the probable evictee each week, and if so he'll be good at it since he has actual nursing home experience.

She really should tone down the chaos but so far she doesn't seem capable of doing that. She's a charter member of Bye Bye Bitches and motivational speaker/coach for the Professors, and while she labels others as being chaos agents, that title is hers and hers alone. She'll probably be the first evictee and I thought all the Nether Region teasers implied she might not be gone for good when she goes, but it turns out she will be. She's the unfortunate victim of being caught out for playing too hard too soon, when so many of the rest of them were already doing it too. BB hamsters have always had their share of hypocrital behavior, and this season's no different in that regard.
