Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 45 - Friday - August 19, 2022

Morning came early to the Dyre backyarders with sunlight streaming into their sleeping canopy. First things first, a few things about their setup. The insiders did not see the yard setup and were curious about it, and the outsiders were frustrated at not having a clock. The lockdown rollup door is down and presumably will stay down all week. Someone (Terrance maybe?) took the Chinese checkers board to the backyard, so insiders just had chess and checkers, and bumper pool. Terrance has a cot for an HOH perk. Let's take a little backyard tour with early riser Terrance.

Outsiders weren't allowed to use the balcony except to exchange their batteries and pick up eventual deliveries that will be left up there. There's a velvet rope at the bottom of the stairs to remind them of that (and to remind them they aren't VIPs). There's a door at the opposite end of the balcony from the stairs where Terrance got new batteries. Since I like to call the balcony Dr Will's Porch, I'll be thinking of that room as Dr Will's Breakfast Nook. They might end up doing their Diaries in there (a litle room with a lamp would be funny), or they might have to tunnel through the walls to the regular Diary Room. Or keep it simple and just use the usual door, if insiders are locked up somewhere without the HOH spyscreen on.

They have two porta-potties side by side, and the outdoor cold shower has a little slatted enclosure around it. They have a pretty nice kitchen area with a fridge, running water sink, and storage. Alas, no grill. They had plastic cups and I'll assume plastic or paper plates and cutlery though I'm not sure about those yet. Terrance had a little hand mirror and rubbing alcohol to start the lengthy process of removing 182 temporary tattoos.

Both HOHs got their letters and etc late last night. Terrance re-read his in the hammock this morning. I assume it was from his wife Tracy, and he had one picture. Michael got the usual humongous assortment of goodies and food. His booze was hard cider, his music was Miley Cyrus, and his letter was from fiancé Hayden again. Preliminary nomination plans were Alyssa/Kyle or Kyle/Joseph noms for Terrance with Joseph his target, and Jasmine and Monte noms for Michael with Jasmine his target (but he told Jasmine his target was Monte, because why change the story now?) Brittany, Michael, Monte, Taylor laughed (and wondered) about how long Convenience Store hasn't figured out what's been going on, despite how they've been voting out their own people for a month.

Kyle then leaked everything to Terrance. He rehashed the season and all the evictions, saying things like "they pressured me so hard" and "Monte's been running the show, and Joseph" and "me and Michael and Brittany are so fed up with it." You could see the penny dropping with Terrance as he said how Joseph always makes it look like he's out of the loop and not working with Monte, and Kyle explained away the various noms and evictions and convos. And Kyle pitched his silent majority plus Terrance alliance (though he didn't call it that obviously). Terrance said he'll put up Turner and Joseph but will tell others his target is Kyle. Kyle guaranteed him safety, and said he trusts Turner but added that Turner's loyal to the alliance of seven. Terrance promised he wouldn't repeat any of that. Kyle also said he hadn't told Alyssa any of it until earlier today, and that she'd said he had to tell Terrance. Kyle continually stressed he was at the bottom of the seven, Monte and Joseph "dictated" everything they did, and Taylor was originally on the outs but was now "running the house" with Joseph and Monte. And he said Terrance knows everything now, "that's my entire game."

Surely Joseph and Turner observed that convo and wondered about its content, in my opinion. Turner then sat down with Terrance who implied his target was still Kyle. Turner said "it is Big Brother, when somebody feels they're in a compromised position they'll say anything" and he asked if his name had been thrown out by anyone, adding "not that I have anything to be thrown out about." Terrance said no, he trusts Turner, and Turner said he felt they have a good duo, and "a good trio with Alyssa." Terrance said "I feel something else is happening but I can't pinpoint it right now, but it's gonna come out." Terrance repeated similar to Joseph, that he thought something bigger was going on, and he said "there's been too much fuck Terrance" all season.

Feeds went to adoptable anipals a litte after 1pm for a little over an hour, and Michael had nominated Monte and Jasmine, leaving Turner the last one to touch the block. Outsiders hadn't held their noms yet but Turner met again with Terrance, who said he "hates it when people misconstrue shit" and "something just sounds fishy." I don't know if that was about Kyle's story or the info it contained. And Turner said "don't tell him I told you that" but I don't know what that referred to either. Kyle told Alyssa "it's working," and said the two of them are finally working together after a month and a half. He asked if she was mad at him for withholding so much from her, and she said no. She asked why she would be mad, and he explained how very much info he had withheld. And Kyle explained what a great game Michael has played so far, but said Joseph's was better, and he said Michael couldn't win at the end against Joseph, Monte, or Taylor.

Feeds were down again from approx 3.30 to 4.20pm and came back to dead silence in the yard, with both Turner and Joseph looking devastated. It seemed pretty clear they were nominated (which they were), and more so when Terrance asked Alyssa to remove his back tattoos and she happily obliged. Noms were finally confirmed, which indicated Terrance believed Kyle's story - which was true, at least the parts that affected Terrance and all his pawnings. Terrance and Turner sat down to talk and Turner said he'd put up Terrance but kept him safe, so if he indeed stays safe, "we're fuckin even." Terrance agreed and assured him he wasn't his target. Terrance then told Joseph it was "strictly strategic" and said his target was Kyle (not true since Kyle's spillage). Terrance asked Joseph why the vote switched to Indy, and Joseph launched into one of his season rehash monologue song 'n dances. Neither Turner nor Joseph outted, admitted, or acknowledged what Kyle told Terrance so I guess they didn't realize he spilled everything, so both probably dug their graves a bit deeper as far as Terrance was concerned.

Both inside and outside got pretty quiet, like feeds do at final five, especially in the walk-on-eggshells period between noms and veto comp. So let's continue our tour of the Dyre Fest with the kitchen area. They had mostly sandwich fixings and canned foods, and fresh fruit, along with some sort of cooktop that sounded like a campstove griddle type arrangement. I don't think there's much likelihood of BBQ Smackdown Junior happening, but you never know. One of the porta-potties was already out of order at 6pm.

Feeds went to anipals yet again a little after 8pm and came back around 11.15pm. The inside group had done their veto comp, which Brittany won. She and Michael walked nonchalantly into HOH and when the door closed, they did a pantry-style jumpy dancy hug celebration. It was the stay or fold comp, estimating how many gumballs, sushi, chocolates, wine glasses, etc. It was in a club setting in one of the alternate indoor comp spaces we see sometimes, they dressed up (their own clothes), and Tiffany hosted or participated virtually, which they were happy about. Brittany was pleased she won of course, and Michael told us "she crushed it." Jasmine did poorly. Afterwards, Taylor's stiletto heel got stuck in the kitchen floor and pulled up a bit of it. She and especially Monte, and later Jasmine, speculated that this cycle will be sped up since they did veto already and eviction might happen before Thursday. Nope, they just have twice the comp setups, twice the editing, and twice the Diaries to take care of. The backyard feeds were quiet with Alyssa, Turner, Joseph silently playing Chinese checkers.

Outsiders had done their Diaries at some point, and Jasmine said something of hers had been moved, so maybe outsiders used the usual Diary Room while insiders were off-site to comp (and somebody moved something to lay own while waiting, or whatever). Jasmine speed-campaigned to Brittany, barely taking a breath as she spewed a million words about being loyal to Brittany and Michael, happy to be third to them at the end, she trusts Brittany, she's starting to trust Taylor, and etc etc. It was exhausting. Monte and Taylor talked about meeting later with Michael and Brittany to discuss scenarios, particularly about next week, depending what's happening with the other group. But even without Joseph needlessly complicating things, they may needlessly complicate this very easy week, and then end up sticking to plan and booting Jasmine anyway. Then again, one or more of them could go rogue like Kyle did. Michael told Brittany maybe it was time to tell people "what Kyle has been saying" [about his anti-Cookout white alliance plan]. Kyle, Joseph, Turner played makeshift cornhole in the yard, using a pool floatie ring as the target, and kicking it to the next person for each toss. Kyle told Alyssa he wants her and Terrance to blame Joseph for outting Leftovers rather than him.. good luck with that.

Day 44 - Thursday - August 18, 2022

Scrambling about the vote carried on through the night, like it does. Michael and Joseph both wanted to give Indy a sympathy vote (aka jury management vote), and Joseph in particular made all of that far more complicated that it had to be, like he does. The table was cleared of all the party debris but Jasmine's face piece from the photo cake had been left on it, at dead center. Turner and Joseph came very close to eating it early this morning before they finally went to bed but decided to eat it tonight if it's still there. They don't know yet, but that will only work out as a prank if the two of them plus Jasmine are in the same group after the split, unless the two groups have allotted kitchen times. It was a funny interaction - Flashback 8/18 5.24am BBT.

Monte apologized to Taylor for his part in the first week shunning and bashing of her, and admitted he shouldn't have just bought everything Paloma said. That was good to finally hear. Indy visited Taylor and told her she thinks she has four or five votes and Taylor again said she'd keep her if it's a tie. When she left, Taylor said quietly "I hate lying to her, I hate lying to Indy." If (when) Indy's evicted, she'll be the first to go out in costume since BB15 Candice in her clown outfit. (BB19 Cody ripped off his frog suit before meeting Julie the first time that season.) Reminder, Julie won't be giving Indy any info about who voted for her, Leftovers, or anything else juicy since we're in jury phase now. So really all the waffling about votes and sympathy votes is extra pointless for the Convenience Store hamsters, who haven't exactly been on top of figuring things out, unless someone spills in their farewell messages.

Brittany confronted Indy about saying she had no other alliances, and Brittany found out about Five Swatters, which told her Indy didn't trust her enough to tell her or bring her into it, and what about Girls Girls, and etc. Michael and Joseph were both present, as this was a plan Joseph and Brittany came up with (and I don't know but I'd guess Brittany probably told Michael about it.) Indy said "Five Swatters doesn't work, it's not a thing." Michael asked who started Five Swatters and Indy said Kyle. Brittany asked if that's true and Joseph said "it was all of us in the room" and Indy said it started before that. Indy and Brittany both said "it's okay" repeatedly, when it clearly wasn't. Joseph ran around afterwards retelling his version to various others and doing damage control, and he gave Indy his usual hospice cat hugs, as she blamed Kyle for her impending eviction.

Michael told Indy she'll get his vote tonight regardless, and said he'll try to talk to Brittany but he didn't know what she'll do. Brittany and Alyssa met in Brittany's office/Alyssa's sex lair (Have-not room) and retold her version. Brittany said she wants to work with Alyssa going forward, said she doesn't care about Five Swatters and opened the door for Alyssa to admit she was in it, but Alyssa said she was only in it because she was in the room. Brittany asked/urged Alyssa not to repeat the convo to Jasmine.

The audience was in place for the first time since BB21 finale, and Julie teased the hell out of the twist, but ultimately the first hour and 15 minutes went to the usual recap segments, Kylyssa segments, a light gloss of Kyle's anti-Joseph/Monte/Taylor campaign, Indy's Punkaroo performances, more recap segments, the veto meeting at 30 minutes in, a Joseph and Taylor tethered as Skid and Fancy segment plus the official show tweeting a "Pick your poison" poll with choices of Skid or Fancy (I KID YOU NOT!), Terrance tattoo segments, all 11 greeting Julie with a shoutout to Rihanna, Julie asking each of them what they miss most from home, more Terrance tattoo segments, and a Jasmine's birthday segment, featuring Turner as it should.

They finally got around to the eviction 15 minutes into the second hour. I believe it was the first eviction show with both nominees in costumes. Indy was evicted 7-1, with Michael the dissenter/sympathy voter. Indy gave a much longer speech at the door on her way out than she did for her nominee speech, she removed some of her Punkaroo outfit bits, and finally came out with a big smile. Back inside, there was complete silence as they watched her pic go black and white - not even a peep about an audience being out front, so I'm guessing they were given a heads up about that for some reason. Indy told Julie she blamed Kyle for her eviction and she still thought Monte was Taylor's actual target. Julie mentioned Five Swatters to her as well as to us during the votes, so apparently she hadn't been updated on today's events and Five Swatters' demise (it was fake anyway for Joseph and Kyle). Julie also asked Indy about BB Brasil, and she said it's not as cutthroat because the viewers vote. Julie said "we tried that Season 1, it didn't work in America." Michael outted the Leftovers members in his farewell, the others they showed (Alyssa, Terrance, Monte, Joseph) were generic boilerplate.

Julie then informed the remainders about the new twist. Half of them will be Big Brochella inside, and the other half Dyre Fest outside. Each group will play out a week of BB as usual, culminating in two separate votes and evictions next week. The HOH comp started about 12 minutes shy of the end of the two hours, titled Do You See the VIP? They faced off two at a time to pick in which of three sections of a cluttered festival crowd pic an evictee was holding a VIP sign. Slowest to answer was eliminated, and fastest correct picked the next two to face off.

Rounds and results were as follows:
1) Color Carnival: Brittany vs Terrance - Brittany out
2) Clone-Fest: Joseph vs Jasmine - Joseph out
3) Biker Bash: Monte vs Turner - Monte out
4) Dad-Fest: Alyssa vs Terrance - Alyssa out
5) Outerspace Land: Michael vs Kyle - Kyle out
6) Lantern-Launch: Terrance vs Jasmine - Jasmine out
7) Spooky Summer Fest: Turner vs Michael - Turner out
8) Viking Festival: Terrance vs Michael - Michael won, making him HOH of Big Brochella, and Terrance HOH of Dyre Fest. Julie said they'd decide teams by the HOHs picking playground style, and that was it. We'll know the teams when feeds come back.

Feeds didn't return til almost 1.30am. The inside group was Michael plus Brittany, Jasmine, Monte, Taylor and the outside group was Terrance plus Alyssa, Joseph, Kyle, Turner. The backyarders had a nice canopy with sleeping bags, and the inside group said they'd taken a bunch of pillows from the house. They were experimenting with sleeping arrangements and whether to use their canopy zone or one of the seating areas out there. They had a nice oudoor kitchen setup, but mentioned that they couldn't use the balcony. More will become clear as we head into the week.

Ratings - TBA edition

Ratings to be updated eventually, based on entertainment value

Noms count: original/renom

Thursday's two hour show was not the best. They spent the entire first hour and a quarter of the next one on recaps and fluff, when they could/should have sent Indy on her way in the first half, then spent the second setting up the split. The HOH/s comp could have been better if played blind rather than knock-out style, and the sides should have been blind or randomized in some way, not playground picks. What's the point of 'shaking up the house' or 'turning it upside down' or whatever dramatic phrase the narrator will use if they don't actually shake it up? It's actually a brand new twist (gasp!) but they went about it the same old way. Let's not even talk about why it took 5.5 hours for feeds to show up after the show wrapped.

That said, I think it's still a good twist in principle (or could have been). I don't know but I suspect these things are set up well in advance before they even know how the game will play out as far as allies, duos, etc. Granted, Leftovers are a popular alliance, especially for a big alliance steamrolling their way through several weeks, and a lot of feedsters are upset they could be broken up by this twist rather than organically. But if it was an unpopular big alliance, people would be all for it. That's just this fanbase being typically fickle and hypocritical. The blind 'my team rules, your team sucks' logic that's used for BB as often as it is for sports.

Edit-wise, they did include some of Kyle's campaign against the hamsters of color but they glossed over it, omitting things like him calling his ideal team of white hamsters the 'silent majority' and continually saying and hinting that the others were threatening in some way, when that's completely false. And they included the sloppy showmance but they went easy on Kyle again by omitting the '10 seconds' confessions. That's comedy gold, and you can't say it would be cruel or accusatory because Kyle said it himself! Twice! About two different times! You also can't say it's too risque for BB. Again, they were still recapping in the 10pm hour and anyway, the 8.30pm comedy show leading into Thursday night's BB made a joke near the end of the episode (when I tune in) about a personal massager. Twice.

I think we were all hoping and expecting a little more for the outsiders setup (remember Ian's doghouse? OTT Scott's golf course?) but it was a takeoff on Fyre Festival, so we'll let that slide for authenticity's sake. I know many were excited about an audience in the studio again but I don't much care about that either way.

All in all, it would be a resounding neutral but they had the audacity and extremely poor taste to tweet a poll during the episode asking 'Pick your poison' with choices of Skid or Fancy. Once again, the characters were obviously based on Sid [Vicious] and Nancy [Spungen], and Taylor and Joseph were told that. As a couple, Sid and Nancy were known for being completely strung out on heroin and other drugs until Nancy was stabbed and bled to death at age 20. Sid was charged but died from an overdose at age 21, before trial. Not a feelgood story that Taylor and Joseph will be pleased to learn they were parodying, not characters to base a gag around, and definitely not a basis for a 'fun' poll using the word poison.

Day 18 to Taylor: 'Don't speak to me until finale. The thing you did to Paloma you're trying to do to [Nicole], you can fuck right off. You don't think America's watching all that? You don't think so? From here on out do not speak to me. I will never forget what you did to Paloma. You think she didn't spiral because of you? You didn't add to that? And now you're trying to do it to Nicole, mind game. Do not speak to Nicole like that ever again.'
Don't get it twisted. First, mental illness doesn't work that way. Second, Terrance first suggested all that, Nicole planted it in Daniel's head, and he's the one who ran rabid with it, with her urging and blessing. They were peas from the same rotten pod and each fed off the other's vileness. I hope I never hear about either of these Toxic Twins again.

3rd evicted - Day 30

Arrogant, aggressive, entitled, overbearing, self-serving and self-centered. She took over the Taylor hate train when Paloma left and ran it off the rails. She had no redeemable watchable qualities, least of all being entertaining in the slightest. I thought about doing Ozark ratings some week but I lost my Wendy Byrde with her exit. Verbatim quote from this 'superfan': 'They've done something that no other alliance has ever done in this game, in Big Brother history, they created a pact of people to make you think you're safe and say I got your back, and then this [betrayal] happens.' Hello? Welcome to BB.

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/1

2nd evicted - Day 23

She was one of the Taylor haters under Paloma's direction, but she kept it up after Paloma's exit, even after Turner referred to it in his noms speech. That was one reason she went on the block as backdoor target and eventual exit, along with Michael and Kyle stressing her general smarts. She pushed for Pooch to go after he volunteered himself, and then she was blindsided when it was her own turn to meet Julie.

Won: Week 1 Backstage Boss/immunity

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0
Have-not 1

1st evicted - Day 16

Volunteering to go on the block is always dicey, but especially as early as he did before any real trust is formed. And now he knows why. He's lucky Julie was COVID-distanced or she might have whacked him. He put all his eggs in a broken Oasis basket, and he irritated a lot of them with his antics and touchy-feely. When Joseph tried to help and warn him about that, he just got mad at Joseph. Like Paloma, he talked constantly and very, very fast. He seems like he's got a good heart so good luck to him from here.

Won: Week 1 Backstage Pass

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0

Left the game - Day 8

She drove the game at the start, and she ignited and fueled the unjustified Taylor hate which continued to thrive even after she left. When she started to spiral, her conspiracy theories and delusions would have been comical if they weren't indicative of something more serious going on. It was probably best for her to go when she did, and for me - her nonstop superfast talking was stressing me out.

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0
Have-not 0

He was replaced pre-season by Joseph, but you can catch him on America's Got Talent and The Circle.
