Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 44 - Thursday - September 17, 2020

It was a slow morning without any major incidents before they were all herded to HOH for the crew to do their run-through for tonight's show. Ian had said he'll do more campaigning today, and Dani had said she'll yell at him if he continues to stress out Nicole about all that. We'll see if either of those things come to pass before they whisk us away for tonight's show.

Ian did start a round of quickie meetings, including one with Da'Vonne where he told her he'd secured David's vote with a handshake (see end of Wednesday's section). Da'Vonne said David may have been lying, as that contradicted the conversation they'd just had. Da'Vonne reported to Kevin, and then checked with David who confirmed yes he would vote to evict Tyler. Da'Vonne said he has to be sure and can't switch at the last minute, as that would put her and Kevin in a bad situation. David said he wouldn't, and that meant it would be a tie tonight (with their votes plus Kevin and Nicole), and that would put Dani in a bad situation which was just fine with them. More retells ensued, including Kevin telling Dani that David, Da'Vonne, Kevin would all vote out Tyler. Dani said she can't stand David, and she told Kevin she'll evict Tyler if it is a tie. (That was a lie, but recall Tyler was Dani's original backdoor plan at the start of the week, but whatever.) Nicole of course got in on all this, and said she'd vote to evict Ian to prevent Dani from breaking a tie, and she'd blame her vote on David. Nicole also reported to Christmas, saying she wouldn't do that to Dani (force a tie) "because I'm loyal" - Ian might argue that. And Dani reported to Tyler, and to Cody. So as of now we're on track for Ian's eviction on a 5-3 vote but with this crew, anything/everything is subject to change.

The show recap was mostly about Nicole's angst over whether to stick with her alliance or her loyalty to Ian, with many many tears. Everyone paying attention knows she'd said she'd put in some appearances campaigning for Ian, even though she knew he was going, but she wanted him to be able to see later on the shows that she'd "tried." Well she got her wish, as tonight's edit was all about her being torn, but she opted to stick with the Committee and protect Dani from having to break a tie, and she turned on her Day 4 Final Two pinkyswear with Ian, giving even more credence to the power alliance being cemented before the season began. But the edit's in her favor for her cover story to Ian, if he doesn't pursue the feeds version of this week.

The rest of the morning's arrangements played out as planned, and Ian was evicted for the first time on a 5-3 vote, with David, Da'Vonne, Kevin the dissenting three votes. Ironic, as David agreed to vote in Ian's favor after being promised the moon and a sweet F2 deal by Ian, and Da'Vonne and Kevin went along with that, thinking Nicole would too and Dani would break a tie in Ian's favor and "get bloody hands" (but she would have evicted Ian anyway). Ian went out classy, giving everyone a hug and saying "good game" to most of them. Tyler's farewell outted the Committe by name, and Nicole's said she was working with a bigger group of people. Ian told Julie that was "good" and he was "ecstatic" there was actually a plan in place rather than having been randomly booted by "lousy players." Other things missing from tonight's show included Tuesday night's sippy fights featuring Ian versus Dani.

Dani opted (secretly) not to use her Replay power on her second of three chances to do so, and Julie sent the rest of them to their HOH comp. It was called Hydrant Hustle and they had to run across a "street" to retrieve puzzle pieces, carry them back, and assemble a fire-type hydrant. The first to finish would win. The show ended before they finished (but you knew already it would), and they'll wrap that up on Sunday's show.

Julie said next Thursday would be live, and she cryptically teased "a Big Brother legend moves into the neighbor's house to shake things up" with a photo of a BB-ish house front, a FOTH if you will, for next Thursday's show. Her closing motto tonight was "don't judge or you too may be judged."

Feeds stayed down again til after the west coast airing, and a bit extra, coming back at 9.15pm. Memphis won the HOH comp, and Christmas and Cody were the new Have-nots, picked by Da'Vonne and David respectively. Apparently we missed yet more fights: sounds like David was screaming, maybe at Memphis? And Cody yelled at David for the Have-not pick? And Christmas maybe popped off at Da'Vonne for that too? I don't know. Enzo later asked "is that a derogatory term?" and David said "it's.." and feeds switched. It also sounded like Da'Vonne was questioning David's vote, which was Nicole's plan and hope.

Cody told Dani he didn't want Memphis to target David as he thought that'd be a waste of a week, and he thought Da'Vonne would be a better out. Christmas pushed the idea of putting up Da'Vonne and Kevin to Memphis, saying "she pushes" and he's good at comps. Memphis said Da'Vonne wasn't a concern for him, but asked "if she's the last one, who's she gonna [target]?" The last one? Huh. Nicole said she didn't want people to think she lies in real life, and Kevin told Dani he's not having a good time this season. Cody and David had a lengthy chat about mostly non-game topics, but Cody did tell him he'd push for David not to leave this week. Nicole told Christmas she wanted David to stay this week, adding "I want one of the other ones gone." Christmas said she didn't think David was Memphis's target anymore, that she thought it'd be Da'Vonne or Kevin.

Memphis got his room and letter around 11.40pm but it was not on feeds. Afterwards, Tyler stayed behind in HOH for a bit, and David, Da'Vonne, Christmas, Cody, Nicole wished Kevin a happy birthday with an impromptu bathroom dance. Da'Vonne met with Tyler and asked who he thought his votes were. He said her, Kevin, David, Enzo, Cody. Da'Vonne explained this morning's pitch from David and said he'd wanted to split the votes so Dani would have to break a tie, and that Dani would have evicted Tyler. She said she didn't know who Tyler's other votes were but she didn't think David was one of them, and to "look out for him," and she let Tyler think she was one of his votes. Da'Vonne reported to Kevin, saying she told Tyler that she'd turned down David's pitch, and that she'd voted for Tyler to stay but David didn't.

If this week is anything like Memphis's first HOH, he'll keep to himself and we'll be spared a lot of the nonstop waffling we've had the last few weeks, other than the usual veto and vote decisions, so that's something. We all need a break.

Day 45 - Friday - September 18, 2020

Kevin started his birthday with a mopey talk to himself, alternating between "I feel like I'm the crappiest player of all these people" and peptalking himself to snap out of it. He said accurately "it's a bro show" and told his husband he's sorry he signed up, and he'll be back to normal when he's home again. He said inaccurately that he thought David lied (per the seed Da'Vonne planted last night), and he hoped he wouldn't be nominated today. Memphis pitched a final two offer to Christmas, saying he didn't know if he could beat her at the end but he wouldn't want to go up against Da'Vonne, "a single mom." He added "you're a single mom too but you're more of a - I don't know what I'm getting at." And he said he has a plan for the week and he hopes everyone will go along with it. And he told Cody he hopes they go to final two.

David cleaned out the fridge with Cody helping, and later David talked to Kevin about their precarious position and the traps being set for them. He said something about "if I try, for my own sanity, of not being targeted by people who look like me, call me 'Uncle Tom'" --feeds cut there. I don't know who said that, but it could be what was referred to last night when Enzo asked if it's a derogatory term. Kevin reported to Da'Vonne, and said David told him he'd been trying to keep the three of them together since the Week 2 retell fiasco, and he was getting tired of trying, and that he'd said "I have to deal with the narrative that I'm an Unce Tom" and Da'Vonne said because he is, and she repeated that he's lying about the votes.

Memphis pitched his dual F3s he mentioned the other day, both to be called Wise Guys. He formed one trio with Enzo and Cody, and the other with Enzo and Christmas. He then told Enzo they are the actual Wise Guys, complete with special handshake. He told Cody he has a plan for the week and he'll tell him that plan after veto, along with who he wants them to vote for. Elsewhere Tyler, Dani, Christmas laughed about Da'Vonne lying about the votes, saying that she voted out Ian and David didn't. And Christmas told Tyler that she'd told Memphis about her power.

Memphis's pre-nom meetings were short and to the point. He basically told everyone "I have a plan" that he wasn't going to tell anyone, with the addition "vote how I want on Thursday" to Committee members. Tyler told him about Da'Vonne lying about her and David's votes. When David's turn came, Memphis offered a pitch and "a place at the table." He said "if we shake hands and you promise you will not play the veto, and you keep my nominations the same, I will keep your ass off the block this week." And he added the biggest part of the deal was for David to not tell anyone. David agreed and shook hands. So it seems his noms will be Kevin and Da'Vonne, with Da'Vonne his target. It'll be interesting to see who he puts up as renom if needed, but that's still a long ways away.

Kevin met with Tyler to discuss the votes, and Tyler played along. Kevin said he'll continue his investigations and he told Da'Vonne later he's certain David's lying after talking with Tyler. (Tyler and Da'Vonne both know where the votes were - Kevin might find out someday.) Nicole meanwhile continued playing sad victim who'd had Ian ripped away from her, and Christmas continued making little comments about Da'Vonne picking her for Have-not. Kevin was lifted out of his alternating "who flipped" investigations and Eeyore funk for a little while when everyone gathered to sing Happy Birthday to him. It was a pretty sad rendition as all of them are apparently tone deaf, but they tried. Memphis made sushi and Christmas made cupcakes decorated with H-A-P-P-Y 4-1-s-t B-I-R-T-H-D-A-Y written on them. Kevin enjoyed it, and I'm glad he got that moment before going on the block again later. He said "I'm not a big birthday person, this is probably the most special birthday I've had."

Memphis did indeed put Da'Vonne and Kevin on the block, her second time and his fourth. David gave Da'Vonne a hug and apologized for "going off yesterday." Cody went off on a tirade to Dani and Enzo about Da'Vonne using her veto last week, as if she shouldn't have. Kevin visited Memphis and they exchanged the usual doubletalk that doesn't really say anything. Kevin then told Da'Vonne and Nicole that Memphis had promised he wouldn't put him up. I don't know if that's true or not - I only heard Memphis offer that to David. Kevin said he was surprised David wasn't on the block, and Da'Vonne said she wasn't, "he's working with him." Da'Vonne told Kevin she hopes there's a way they can both stay, and she keeps thinking how Memphis said he "has a plan." They did some studying in case tomorrow's veto is OTEV or another season trivia comp.

Da'Vonne and Kevin made fried chicken, Kevin's first time, and they had a cook-off. Enzo and David sampled, and Have-not Cody and vegans Daniele, Tyler voted based on looks and aroma. I think the voters liked both versions, and the votes were split, but I didn't take copious notes. David was hanging out with Day and Kevin as they cooked, not being openly snubbed but close. Afterwards he went on a little rant to himself/us, saying "he won't play with minorities" presumably about Memphis? And about Da'Vonne: "I literally went the game plan, I literally fuckin did it. She referenced me being an Uncle Tom, when I literally went the game plan that she suggested, that she wanted, I played it the way - and she literally referenced Uncle Tom?" -feeds switched. He went back to the kitchen to eat and chat, and didn't let on that he was upset. Cody griped to Enzo and Tyler about Nicole hiding out all evening in the keys bedroom. He said it was weird she was in there, "staying close to where Ian slept" and "America hates you, that's it, just accept it!"

Kevin and Da'Vonne commiserated in the lounge, and Da'Vonne griped about David some more, saying "I can wear a fake face, like I can do that, but I'm not gonna be nobody's pet, not even for $500,000." She said Dani had suggested maybe David had an early deal with Tyler, and that she'd understand that, but she was upset about having stressed to David the vote plan would be very bad if he didn't go through with it. (But he did go through with it, as we and most of them know. Nicole was the missing vote and Day and Kevin have no idea.) Dani joined them and Kevin proceeded to rattle off his view of the alliances again, completely unaware she's in several of them. She said she was just playing devil's advocate, but what if one of the powers was to switch votes? It's like she doesn't like this situation anymore than we do, even though it benefits her.

David had a talk with Kevin, saying it's just a TV show (my paraphrase), and "there's a greater goal because it's 2020 and people are standing up to the optics of America, I believe that to my core, but she doesn't believe me, she believes what people warned her about me." Kevin asked if David would use the veto if he wins it, and David kind of froze - recall above he shook hands with Memphis that he wouldn't. David met with Da'Vonne but most of that was blocked from us. What we did see was Da'Vonne not buying what David was selling (the truth, this time). She made him speak the complete sentence and he did: "I voted Tyler out of the Big Brother house." He apologized for (I'm not sure, it wasn't on feeds) and she apologized for calling him Uncle Tom. She said she hoped she's wrong because she's been working for him, and he was supposed to go before Janelle, before Keesha.

Later Da'Vonne told us "it's okay, I was a little bitchy just now BUT right now I need him to feel bad. If he did sabotage my game he can go back and fix it. I think he did but no, tough love, I'm mad so - chill, I'm not really a bitch guys." Most of us do know that, but wish she'd realize he's not the villain on this one. Nicole was hiding all day, and Dani was uncharacteristically not very talkative when she met with Day and Kevin. And to her credit, Dani told the HOH crew she'd only talked about what the veto comp might be with Day and Kevin. It's been a frustrating day for Hamsterwatchers.

And to top it off, they had an earthquake around 11.40pm. It was a 4.6, definitely big enough to get your attention but not terrifying or damaging, centered in greater LA, about 20 miles from them. Feeds came back about 10 minutes later and they were all fine.

Won: 500 tricycle laps
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1

5th evicted, Day 37

She and Tyler had their ups and downs, repairing their relationship from last time and breaking it up again, and that affected the game in various ways. Her friendship with Janelle was fun to watch, and her friendship with Da'Vonne was golden, the type that will likely last long after this season's forgotten. She rode 500 backyard laps on a tricycle as a veto repercussion, 40 with only one pedal, and BB didn't even put it on the show.

Won: Safety Suite #1
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 2/0 - HN 1

4th evicted, Day 30

His BB strategy plans have always held promise but implementing them, not so much. But no matter: he was and is a class act, and he always brings the kind of much-needed humanity our feeds are usually lacking in a big way. It's too bad things didn't work out differently this time but it was great to see him on our feeds again, both for himself and for his fun friendship with Janelle.

Won: Safety Suit #1 (Kaysar's win)/1 week star
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1

3rd evicted, Day 23

It was great to see her on feeds again, especially her easy friendship with Kaysar. She was BB6 Janelle again but without the in-your-face name-calling that would have made things more fun for us, but props to her for not going there. It's astounding how hard she was targeted just for showing up, proof that Janellousy is still real.

Won: Nothing
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1

2nd evicted, Day 16

Imagine going on BB and not wanting to work with Janelle and Kaysar. Having them to go bat for you, hard, and then throwing it back in their faces. It's mind-boggling. She was in way over her head this season, made one bad decision after another, and she repeatedly promised us a house meeting that she never delivered.

Won: Nothing
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 0

1st evicted, Day 9

She was feisty her first time around but like all of them, she's older and more mature now, and her birthday happened before they moved in, so we didn't get any new memorable Keesha scenes. But it was good to see her again and she got a nice check for two weeks isolation and one week of summer camp.

Big Brother 22 SEASON FAQ
-Day 1 move-in and CBS premiere was August 5
-Christmas was first to enter
-Day 58 2-hour double eviction is October 1
-Day 85 2-hour finale is October 28

Feeds are streamed by CBS, and Flashback is accessible via All Access subscription. Call 888-274-5343 for account help, including cancellation.

The CBS app (by CBS Interactive) plays BB air shows and other CBS shows, as well as feeds, or you can use your browser to watch feeds on mobile devices. The same All Access link used to subscribe will lead to the feeds viewing page if you're already signed up.

BB22 finalist prizes are $500k for the winner and $50k for 2nd place. 3rd place gets $10k bonus (so 4th and 5th might get $7.5k and $5k respectively, like recent seasons). All (or all but finalists) got $40k for showing up, with $12k additional bonus for making jury.

The habitat has 94 HD cameras (no change) and 113 microphones (no change).

The recorded in-house announcements are the voice of producer Don Wollman. He and Julie Chen are the only staffers who have been there since Big Brother 1.
