Today's topics were some of the usual Wednesday fodder: who should win HOH and who would they put up, plus campaign pitches by the nominees, but there wasn't a lot of talk about flipping this vote, so in reality the campaign pitches were pointless, but Britini didn't know that. She presented six points to voters in one-on-one meetings. Most (maybe all) lied and told her they didn't know how they were voting yet. Alyssa told her she thought she had a chance to stay, but she didn't want Britini to be in the position Christian was last week, with everyone (including) Britini BSing him.Derek F also had meetings that were mostly comedic pitches, and he told SarahB he "got in trouble last night" for laying around and not campaigning yesterday, implying that trouble had come from BB. And of course Kyland held meetings as well, and of course various retells of all the above also happened. Tiffany told Xavier someone should win HOH who'd put up Kyland and SarahB, meaning herself, Hannah, or Claire. Xavier reminded her she'd said yesterday Claire had to go, and Tiffany said things change fast in there. Claire and Derek X talked about targeting Kyland and Xavier if they win HOH, and Claire reminded DX that Xavier saying he's not nominating him probably just meant he'll be a renom/backdoor. Kyland told Tiffany "the only two scenarios for the six" next week would be Derek X either spends his BB Bucks or he goes home. Feeds were down from around 6pm to 8pm for their halfway party. They had booze, food, music, and the traditional photo cake. They only ate (or cut out) Brent and Whitney's faces, leaving most of the cake intact (and usable as a strategy board for Kyland, heh). Apparently they didn't have much booze as several of them dove into cleaning up not only the party food, but pantry and general cleanup too. Britini launched into retells to Azah of her pitch meetings, and Derek F met with Xavier for reassurance that he'd stay. And he told Xavier "supposedly Tiff was the vote for Britini to stay," referring to that ages-ago hinky, and he added that Hannah had said that. Azah met with Kyland to ask where the votes lie, and he said he thought it was currently Britini going 7-1, with Azah being the 1. She said she'd heard talk about forcing a tie and she didn't want to give Britini that vote if that was the case. Kyland said there'd been talk that Tiffany, Hannah, Derek X, Claire might do that but he didn't think that was the case now, and they agreed to finalize that tomorrow. Meanwhile Claire worked on Hannah to keep Britini, and told her Derek F was pushing to get all the girls out. Back in HOH (because you know Kyland was still talking), he broke down at one point, telling Azah the game is hard, evictions are the messed up part of the game, and "we always have to question motives." Azah said she's the biggest crier in the house and not to worry about getting emotional, and she gave him a big hug. The others were waiting to do Big Blue Couch and even sent someone up to get Azah for the song, but they went another half hour before they wrapped, with another hug and agreement to communicate better going forward. And then the Big Blue Couch season finale happened - unless, as emcee Derek F said, "depending how tomorrow goes, there might be a new season." Britini didn't have a big part in tonight's BBC episode, but she did participate in the improv skit that followed. And she seemed to be in a good mood and enjoying herself for her last night. Day 42 - Tuesday - August 17, 2021As promised, the big news last night was Tiffany giving Derek X a haircut. It didn't go as well as some BB haircuts (things like "it'll grow back" were said), but it wasn't as bad as others (remember Paul's hackjob on Paulie). I don't know how they got permission as those things are usually only allowed on Thursdays, for editing continuity. Maybe they got a go-ahead since they won't need more Derek X Diaries for this week. During the haircut, DX told Tiffany he'll probably have enough BB Bucks for the Coin of Destiny coup d'etat the week after next, since it will cost 250 and he already has 100 banked. The yard was closed this morning so the day was a lot of their usual indoors time: chit-chatting, snacking, grooming, and psst-pssting about future plans that will all reset and start afresh when a new HOH is named. Today started with Britini planning her pitches and speeches, Derek F working out before making breakfast for all, Claire doing yoga and Xavier cycling. Xavier also met with Kyland, who shared his latest snackboard strategy planner. This time he included a Froot Loops system for who was likely lying to whom about their BB Bucks. Of course they discussed their preferred boot orders, with both of them now saying they want Derek X out next, and both said they'd keep Claire as the last of the non-Cookouts. Azah apologized to Alyssa if she made last week more difficult for her than it already was. A group discussion about Westworld led to general philosophy chat, the nature of free will, and back to Westworld. Xavier told Tiffany his plan to get Derek X out by putting up her and Claire initially, then DX as renom/backdoor. Tiffany told him Claire and Derek X both want Derek F out, so one of them has to go to ensure Cookout's survival. Derek F told Azah he's been too nice so far, he's ready to "be a savage and stop giving a fuck." Britini campaigned to Claire for some time, and said she wanted to talk to Kyland today. Hannah and Tiffany discussed Claire and Derek X starting to figure out Cookout, and what to do about that. They went back and forth between whether Claire or DX needs to go first, with the subtext always present that both Tiffany and Hannah would like to keep their own number one as long as possible, obviously. However, Tiffany reported to Kyland that "Claire has to go next week" because she and Derek X want to keep Britini this week, and she said Claire's more influential on Derek X than vice versa. However, Tiffany doesn't always present things as she wants them, but rather to get balls rolling and misdirected. Alyssa and Xavier also talked about Claire and Tiffany trying to flip the vote, and Xavier told us that just reinforced that Britini needs to go. Britini finally met with Kyland to hash things out. They started around 2.50pm and ran for two solid hours, with probably a trillion or so words. Britini said Derek F was just telling everyone keep him if he's better for their game, and keep Brit if not, so she was focusing her campaign on how she can help people's games. She said that was different from her other times on the block when she'd been assured she was just a pawn, and safe. (In other words, she already has the dots, she just hasn't connected them to her demise yet.) About The Deal, Kyland said it was contingent on his part "if these things occur," meaning if he'd kept her off the block this week. They agreed that had been a misunderstanding: or rather, a lack of comprehension of the specificity of the words in that moment, per Kyland. She said she hadn't been using him "breaking" that deal to campaign (she had), and said she wouldn't use it going forward. BB Bucks also came up, and she asked if the perception that she got 100 is why she's on the block? He said no (it was), plus a Murder on the Orient Express analogy, and "maybe a minor reason." She said that upset her. That leaves around 999,999,900 words I'm not including. A lot of them were about her not saying who she'd target and who may have said they'd use veto on her if they won it, and that she was one M&M short in previous snackboard meeting(s). You can do the flashback if you want to hear all the words. Britini's retells got underway soon after, of course. She included The Deal misunderstanding, and said Kyland told her she has "a lack of comprehension." She seemed a little giddy about all that, and now she has to "fight for her life" but she absolutely thought she can get the votes to stay, and that it'll be 5-3 or 7-1 in her favor (no). Meanwhile Azah styled Xavier with some of her hair, and he named his new character Lucius after turning down Britini's suggestion of Reese. When he caught his first glimpse in the mirror he said "omg why is this 'fro so aggressive? Put it in a ponytail! I look ugly as shit! I look crazy! I look like Doc had a Black brother!" But he embraced the character and walked himself out for formal introductions to the others. Tiffany especially liked it, before Lucius strutted away. Kyland's excruciatingly wordy meetings and resulting retells carried on, as did loud group games around the photo wall of what Real Housewife, what drink, what color, what animal, etc they all are. That led to a Big Blue Couch episode, but first they got the selfie camera. Xavier took that on a house tour and he dropped both Cookout and lawyer in his narration - I don't know if they can replay those or if they do, but if so, oops! He also kicked the Have-not door open in a mini-skit about checking for eavesdroppers, and broke something on it. They did their Big Blue Couch show, and then played several games of Mafia. SarahB was mistakenly (or not) called a sloth in Animal Mafia, which upset her. Britini angrily retold her Kyland meeting to Derek F, and she retold it tearfully to Xavier, telling both of them that Kyland threatened her and told her what she could and couldn't say in her campaign pitches. Derek F went to HOH to get Kyland's version. Xavier told Britini to show Kyland and everyone that she's "a grown ass woman" and not let Kyland or anyone push her around. Day 41 - Monday - August 16, 2021Kyland and his snackboard questionnaire meetings kept at it until after 5am again. I don't think any plans for this week were changed. BB let them sleep til 10am today, and Kyland started up again from his bed, yawning, as he released words to Claire. Eventually he acknowledged he'd be replacing her with Britini, and he said he'd give Britini a heads up. Britini was upset and worried about Derek F staying on the block into Thursday, and also concerned that she or Azah would be sitting next to him. Kyland and Alyssa had a quick kitchen check-in and he asked if she'd talked to Britini. Alyssa said Britini had asked if she/Alyssa knew what was going on, and she said no. Derek F and Kyland also had a check-in, with Derek F saying he was worried about the vote, he didn't trust Alyssa and SarahB, and couldn't it be Britini versus Claire? Kyland said no, that would lose trust, and the system was set up and in place for DF to be safe.Feeds went to anipals a little after noon and Kyland had not had a chance to warn Britini, at least not that we saw. It sounded like SarahB gave Britini a heads up, but it clearly didn't help her accept the news. As planned, Alyssa did not use her veto, and Kyland used his to replace Claire with Britini. His speech was long and rambling, saying Britini was "unpredictable" according to his various meetings, and she couldn't win a veto. Feeds came back to Britini sobbing loudly and shout-crying to Azah and Derek F about "four out of six weeks!" and "I don't understand!" and "why am I the punching bag of the house!" and "I don't get it!" and "every HOH who's nominated me is still here!" and "OMG I have to pack again!" and rewind, repeat, ad nauseum. She was nearly hysterical and both Azah and Derek F just had to soak it up, since they knew Britini was going up and they also know the bigger picture why. I don't know if it ever dawned on Britini that she was ranting to the other nominee. And if so, she didn't seem to register that he was calm about being on the block after two vetos might have been used on him. Britini eventually moved along, repeating her loops as she went, and adding a retell of a safety deal that she said she shook on three times with Kyland that he'd now gone back on. (She did pitch that deal to him before Friday noms, but he said "deals are weird" and didn't agree to it.) Xavier and Tiffany each calmed her down some, and Tiffany urged her to talk to Kyland after she calmed down, and to fight and not give up. Azah told Derek F she has to vote to evict him. (And that is the current plan this week: for Azah to give Britini a sympathy vote, to cover up Cookout to the remainders.) Derek F said he won't campaign against Britini, he's okay with going, and if he goes to jury he'll get to smoke again (he's been out of cigs for awhile now). Britini settled down and gave herself/us an entering-the-final-act type motivational speech: "I've been here before, I know what to do" and the like, saying she'll now earn the Block Queen title, and "if the block's the way I'm playing the game, then the block's the way I'm playing the game," and "I need to find a way to stay, and I'm not gonna stop until I do, that's it, that's it." She headed out to the yard where most of them were loudly talking around the pool about Avatar: The Last Airbender. That discussion went on a long time, enthusiastically, with SarahB in particular coming alive like I don't think I've seen from her since move-in. Derek F and Britini whispered in a corner, as he gassed her up and continued to pretend he hadn't known she'd go up and didn't know why she did. Late afternoon had a lot of feeds blocks but between those Britini continued her rounds and retells, including The Deal she thought Kyland broke. It seemed she talked to Kyland about that at some point off-feeds, and she also said she'd asked around and others were not asked about, or told Kyland, that she was "unpredictable." She got a little more wound up with each retell, and then they had a standing face-off. She told Kyland she won't campaign against Derek F but she would campaign for herself to stay. Kyland suggested she wait to campaign at all, and said she shouldn't campaign against him/Kyland. She followed that up by telling us, about him, "I'm sorry, are you on the block? You're not on the block, you're not gonna tell me how to campaign, even if it is against you." Britini retold that to Azah, and Hannah, and Xavier, to whom she added "I live on the block" and "I crunched the numbers, I've been safe for 14 days, I spent 27 days on the block." She told him a lot more, which he listened to, and he nodded a lot, and he told her to campaign however she wanted to. Britini continued making rounds and she did calm down, and things went back to the usual planning ahead plus hanging out for most of them. Azah told Hannah pretty much everyone not in Cookout was starting to suspect them (which Hannah knows because Derek X talked to her about it), and Azah presented a potential plan where a Cookout member as HOH could put two others on the block, to increase their chances of winning veto. That may or may not come to something down the road. Hannah and Xavier discussed having Derek F become the new pawn star after Britini goes. Alyssa and Xavier started their shoutout to Christian show but it was blocked. Derek F gave some shoutouts and talked about the day and the vote with Azah. Hannah told Azah that Claire and Derek X have talked about flipping the vote to boot Derek F, and that Hannah and Tiffany have been working to shut that down. I shut down early so if anything "important" pops up overnight, I'll catch it up later.
