March 6, 2008 - Day 28 (or 29)
>> Ryan is Head of Household - Chelsia and Sharon are nominated <<
A new day - a new game|
Allison's absence is noticeable - it's calm & peaceful in there today.. James and Ryan are on nicotine patches now
Not much changes with Adam though
They did their food comp - swimming & spelling this time.. Sheila, Chelsia, Sharon & Joshuah are the new sloppers
Noms chatter had Ryan thinking of Sharon & Sheila.. Matt wanted Joshuah, and James suggested Sharon & Chelsia - hmmm.. Ryan thought that was a good idea, with Sheila on hold for a veto replacement if needed.. he warned Chelsia it was coming and assured her his target is Sharon
Natalie did a nail polish portrait of Sheila.. Chelsia told the others about it and gets an early Line of the Day award for adding that when sitting for Natalie, "You can't talk, but you can listen"
The sloppers started slopping but without many complaints.. Chelsia said she wouldn't mind eating it every day (for breakfast, anyway).. it's the second time for Sheila - her protein shake poured out as part liquid, and part big glops
Nominations, no twist
Chelsia & Sharon were nom'd according to plan.. Joshuah is convinced he's a backdoor target.. this was his last facial expression before going glum and mostly silent
Natalie & Sheila vowed they would fight for the veto tomorrow (if they get to play) and not use it, so they could save Joshuah.. they're convinced they could get Chelsia out if the noms stay as is
James & Chelsia continued to lay around on each other for much of the day.. I don't think he's letting on that he was behind the plan to put her up, let alone that he suggested it.. Joshuah joined them for a minute, as did various others here & there
Ryan apologized to Chelsia again for putting her up.. I caught a nice glam cap of her.. Matt joined and they trashed Sharon for awhile, saying she'd probably go out 6-0 like Allison
Joshuah was comatose much of the evening and Sharon followed suit.. meanwhile the fun kids were having a beer party upstairs
They got a giant pool table with slopes and a row of holes down the center, and giant cue sticks
It's practice for the veto comp, which means it's Crapshoot Week.. this might be the final apparatus but I kinda doubt it as it's got a sloppy paint job.. it gave them something to do though, and something different for us to watch.. even Joshuah & Sharon came out for a bit
Natalie had tried juggling at the beer party (they laughed about it and her after she'd left).. Adam juggled a couple of the skeeballs, kinda, and asked Natalie to watch
It's official: lines are drawn
The guys were playing boys versus girls even back when they were all "married" (as Julie called it), and the girls finally caught up, led by Joshuah
Apparently panic spurred him into action, and he declared a females alliance to fight the testosterone taking over everything.. Sheila, Sharon, and Natalie all toasted the new alliance.. I guess they figure Chelsia's one of the guys - she's been acting it the last 24 hours anyway
Josh/Sharon/Sheila/Natalie after noms; Matt/Chelsia/Ryan trash Sharon; Spending the money; Veto skeeball practice; and Sharon Diary slippage about skeeball (aka Pulling Teeth plus Croquet) are posted in the forum, linked top & bottom of every page
Daily ratings - Fresh start edition
Ratings are based on entertainment value, and as much as nobody misses Allison stirring things up, the entertainment quota is dropping.. let's hope this was just a transition day
Wednesday's show was excellent thanks to well-kept secrets sprung on them and us together. I don't know about a surprise that 'no one saw coming' but it sure worked out well and although every scenario had been mentioned in there and out here, nobody knew for sure which way it would go. Yes, it was mean of all of us who savored Allison's final tragic fall from triumphant smug to shocked misery over the span of a commercial break, but she brought it on herself so we might as well enjoy it. I'll overlook the drawn-out storylines about hinky vote plans, the staged-sounding Diaries, and the still-repetitive lesbian and Matt & Natalie junk because the (un)twist worked this time and it worked beautifully. They were all just as shocked as Allison and that's how it should be. I still have no idea how Ryan & Adam ended up the HOH finalists, but I think most were pleased with Ryan's win. Both Alex & Parker got raw deals and it was looking like Ryan was going to go the same route so it was a sweet win especially after his unanimous reprieve. Bottom line: big ups for doing it right and giving us a half hour of real reality tv.. the random guinea pig was icing on the cake.
Paired with Sheila
Is he crushing on Natalie? I can't tell. He's always staring at her but that doesn't necessarily mean anything: it's Adam. Asking her to watch his pseudo-juggling after they'd ridiculed her for it (behind her back) makes me wonder. Otherwise it was more of the same for Adam today: a hand down his pants, a finger up his nose.
Paired with James
Looking over the page here, she seems to be Hamsterwatch star of the day so I guess that's ups-worthy. When she's not laying around with James, she's stuck to Ryan and that's an improvement: at least she's moving around again. She doesn't seem very confident with Ryan's apologies and pawn assurances, but wait til she finds out it was James' idea. She (jokingly) offered sexual favors to bribe Ryan and that's more like the Chelsia we were getting to know before she glommed onto James 24/7. She looked strong at skeeball pool but we know how these crapshoot comps go.
Paired with Chelsia
For trying to call out Matt for playing both sides, he sure does cover some ground. I'm not sure if he'll be asked into the Joshuah/female group as an honorary member or not. Josh & Sharon have been real cozy with him for a long time, but he seems to be in better graces with the guys again too. He got real cocky playing skeeball pool, saying he'd figured it out, he's got a surefire method, but when he went to demonstrate, he tanked. He blamed it on shadows, or something.
Paired with Neil / Sharon
When he came out of his coma, he talked to James about offering three weeks safety in return for not getting backdoor'd this week. That sounds a bit extreme and James told him so, but skeeball came along and I don't know what else came of it. It's especially extreme considering Joshuah isn't even the target he thinks he is: Ryan's sights are set on Sharon (which comes out about the same for Joshuah). He formed a females alliance around midnight.. only a couple weeks late. 2am update: Joshuah talked with Ryan and was told he wasn't the target, but they agreed to pretend he was. Joshuah wasted no time in acting his new role for James & Chelsia.. whether he's going to tell Sharon and/or his new estrogen alliance about this or if he's just taking out some private insurance remains to be seen.
Paired with Natalie
Yes, he's a pig but he isn't treating Natalie all that badly lately: stop believing the CBS edits, especially when they use weeks-old material. He doesn't make any pretenses and he tells her how it is upfront, which is commendable, and anyway, she dogs him something awful when she gets going. He's been stuck to Ryan like a Siamese twin lately but that's okay, at least they have some fun convos and get away from constant game chat. He leads group discussions and has something to say on any subject without taking over or being a know-it-all, and we need that: it's awfully quiet in there now without Allison & Amanda. Not for long though: I think he'll be tangling with Joshuah pretty soon, especially when he finds out Joshuah suggested to Ryan again that Matt should be sent out the back door.
Paired with Matt
See Matt, with the addition that she's not buying into the dream anymore. She would like to keep him as a partner I think - she needs one - but she's not picking out silver patterns. What she doesn't realize is he reports everything she says right back to his boys, including the new alliance news, and Matt's already foaming at the mouth about Joshuah. It was good to see her get a bit sippy and light up again, although she really needs to stop rising to the guys' bait when they ask her to do things like pretend to be in labor so Adam can deliver her basketball. All signs point to her winning the veto and things might get bad if she does: Matt will be working on her to use it, but she's now in an official alliance that will be working on her not to.
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD
Jen's boyfriend Paired with Allison
He's proving himself to be a class act and a good HOH. He warned Chelsia she was going up before she did and apologized after, and before that when battle plans were being drawn up, he told his troops that if the plan got leaked, he'd backdoor the leaker - you gotta love that! In a 2am convo with Joshuah, Ryan said he doesn't trust James and that shows he's been paying attention. During the What Would You Do With $500,000 game, his first response was 'adopt 17 kids' - everybody say awww.
Paired with Jacob (her ex) / Joshuah
I don't think she has any idea how eager Ryan & friends are to see the back of her. I'm also not sure if they have any idea how shrewd and savvy she is about the game and how hard she's been playing: Ryan told Chelsia that Joshuah makes all their decisions and she just follows along telling boring stories. (I'm not even sure Joshuah's aware that she makes their decisons.) They'd all be wise to get rid of her whatever the reason or she'll game her way right to the finals, and I'm all for sending out anyone as dull to watch as she is.
Paired with Adam
She looks great on paper: token older person who can hang with the kids, fascinating and racy background, and not afraid to start fights. But she just isn't living up to her potential in there.. I don't know what the problem is. At least she didn't retell any of her same stories again today and that's something.. or if she did, I missed them.
Paired with Ryan
She called it manipulation - I call it emotional blackmail with a lot of 'poor me' thrown in. One of the most delusional hamsters ever (and that's saying something), she's the poster girl for Can Dish It Out But Can't Take It. She did give us some confrontation doozies and fireworks deluxe but trust her, like one million percent, she does not care.
Paired with Amanda
He started out looking like he was on board with Matt's showmance plan and CBS picked up that angle, but then we got to know a bright, charismatic, and goofy guy who had everything going for him in there except his partner. His diplomacy was remarkable and he might have gone the distance, but he went out as another casualty of 'Til Death Do You Part'.
Paired with Alex
She began with hysterics & drama and was at the center of the biggest BB fight ever, but she went out with more of a whimper than a bang. Her moods dropped as fast as her blood sugar but to her credit, she rebounded just as fast. She & Allison had dual 911 events, but Amanda's collapse brought unexpected (and uniformed) guests into the habitat and onto the air.
Ryan's girlfriend/Paired with Parker
She & Ryan could have gone far if she hadn't opened her mouth in the first days. She made loads of enemies in a short time and took Parker down with her. She'll be remembered for super-quickie sex in the bathroom and a rash on her backside.. hmm, coincidence?
Paired with Jen
He was good watching at first til he gave up and went on strike. He bounced back a bit at the end but his doom came early when partner Jen couldn't keep her trap shut about her & Ryan. She had to go, and he was just the innocent bystander casualty. 'I'm sick of people's dumbass assinine ass comments' might be Line of the Season.
Paired with Joshuah
He left suddenly and mysteriously but wrote on his MySpace that he didn't leave for health reasons and that he won't be back. He seems like a good guy and I wish him well.. he's probably lucky he got out when he did, unscathed.
Paired with Sharon (his ex)
Gone before the feeds kicked in: he didn't even make an appearance. All that potential for rehashing their breakup and/or a jealous rage up in smoke. To make it worse, he & Sharon didn't even get an exit interview in Julie's boudoir - how rude!

HAMSTERWATCH VOTERS GUIDE
Revive-a-Hamster: Vote at CBS.com for Jacob, Jen, Parker, Amanda, Alex or Allison to come back. Polls close Tuesday, March 11 at 11.59pm PT
Jacob would make or break Sharon's game, bring angry sex potential, and we'd find out what he looks like
Jen would make or break Ryan's game, cause a lot of drama, and have sex
Parker would be entertaining and probably smarter the 2nd time, and he'd make the sponsors happy
Amanda would create chaos and cause fights, cry a lot and make excuses
Alex would be funny and flirty, talk in funny voices, do talk shows, and probably be a nice guy again
Allison would be Allison, and would beat Kaysar's 3 eviction record by combining them in the same season, and unanimously
Ryan is Head of Household
Chelsia and Sharon are nominated
On slop: Chelsia, Sharon, Sheila, Joshuah
Sounds like the winner of Revive-a-Hamster will be reintroduced to the habitat on next Wednesday's live show? One out and one in like the Neil/Sharon swap, but without the mystery
Finale is April 29 but 'subject to change'
First place earns $500k, second gets $50k. The others earn $750 a week, including jury sequester weeks for those that go there
Wednesday's show remained in third place with a 3.8 rating and 6 share, behind 'American Idol' on Fox with 16.0/25 and 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' on NBC with 4.7/7.

This site isn't necessarily thorough: it's what I catch and/or what interests me. It also isn't necessarily about who should win, who will win, who I'd be friends with or who is cute. It's about watching hamsters: which ones are doing what and why, which are fun and which are dull. If they aren't entertaining, get rid of 'em! Thanks for encouraging my behavior.
