Day 66 - Friday, August 19

Rise and shine

They outlasted me and I shut them off at 5am.. cracks are starting to show for all of them, especially on Fridays, what with live show adrenalin, a big long comp, and not much sleep on top of the usual stress and paranoia.. as a few of them started to rattle around and get ready for the day, James gave Natalie another Icy-Hot treatment, and we waited for the care package delivery to see who else would be sleeping upstairs this week

Michelle got care package #4 and became co-HOH, which also ended her Have-not week immediately.. her card outlined that she'll share all perks including the room, she and Natalie will each select one nominee, and neither will play for the next HOH.. she also got sandals, hair ties, a "best friend bracelet" and brownies

Naturally Michelle was thrilled and so was Natalie, who said she didn't want to do it alone.. Nicole and Corey weren't quite as happy and neither was James, who made a joke about being kicked out of Natalie's room and bed (but the 2nd HOH room will likely be opened)

The two HOHs sat down to talk noms right away, with Natalie saying "obviously you want Corey and Nicole out" and she pitched her plan to put up Paul.. Michelle said she didn't care about Corey but she wanted Nicole out.. Paul came in to celebrate and say "dude, America loves us!" and when he left, Natalie pitched Paul and Victor to Michelle, with Paul the target.. Michelle seemed to go along with that, and they each made separate deals with Nicole and Corey to keep themselves safe next week

Natalie later told Nicole and James that "mom and dad" (Diary) had suggested this plan and given her the words to use - Flashback 8/19 1.50pm.. she said just the other day she lets them feed her all her Diary lines, so this isn't hard to believe

There's also a flurry afoot about Natalie supposedly wanting to put up Paul because he's an atheist - the actual wording was he's "an atheist who swears to God"

They didn't open the second room for Michelle after all, but she got a full basket of goodies, photos, makeup, a stuffed kitty from home, and a letter from dad and family, and she was very happy with everything

Natalie and James painted and planted a tampon for Victor to find and freak out over.. Natalie and Michelle did a skit about how they should do noms and veto comp announcements in matching costumes and say the words together - they did this skit for Paul and Victor, oops

Diary may have had a little chat with Natalie about her slip-up, as she pulled Michelle aside again to run through various alternate nomination scenarios featuring Corey/Nicole, but they circled back to Paul as target plus Victor.. they were giving Victor a heads up when Jeffish took them away to make it formal

Drama noms

Natalie nominated Victor and Michelle nominated Paul, and they had a RED ALERT during the ceremony.. Paul confronted Natalie, loudly, after Victor filled him in on his pre-noms talk with the HOHs, about alleged lies of his (including his early hinky vote for Victor, which he admitted to), and "apparently I'm an atheist now so I swapped religions?" He also confronted Michelle about her words (I think) that he's "a liar and a manipulator"

It got loud enough that it qualifies for a spot on my fight tally below, but Paul reigned himself in superbly and diffused everything before it got ugly.. later he talked to Natalie, Michelle, James in HOH, mostly Natalie, about past history and Paulie and various allegations of the past many weeks.. Natalie cried, saying she didn't realize so many people were saying bad things about her for so long and the like.. alas, on the final day of RED ALERTs, none came when they would have been doubly funny.. meanwhile Nicole and Corey did a pantry celebration dance

Paul, who raised such a stink about being called a manipulator, proceeded to manipulate like nobody's business, with Victor on cleanup, and by the end of the evening both HOHs regretted their noms (especially Natalie) and they were on board the plan to put up Corey if/when either nominee comes off with the veto.. Paul also volunteered to do pots 'n pans and/or "call out" Nicole and Corey before the veto comp, but he was sure to get permission from Natalie and Michelle before doing so (so it won't be all his fault if it goes wrong)

Midnight arrived and the end of Nicole's Have-not week, but Natalie and Michelle finally gave Paul permission for Operation Callout and it started shortly after.. Paul laid into Nicole about lies she's told, particularly about him, going all the way back to his hinky vote, Dategate, and everything in between.. Corey had been called to Diary and came out a few minutes later, hollering about his patriotard being over and he was going to do a striptease, before he realized nobody cared - Flashback 8/20 12.12am

Victor hovered nearby in the kitchen, Natalie grew anxious and took a shower, Michelle listened at the HOH door, and James laid on the upstairs balcony, seemingly enjoying the show as much as us.. an alleged comment by Corey about Natalie skating through the season by doing sexual favors for James, which upset her quite a bit and James by extension, did not come up

Just as it was winding down and Nicole had escaped to HOH, the 16th and final RED ALERT came along.. Paul made his stops, entering HOH with "Big Brother hooked me up with a RED ALERT to make sure you're not spreading more bullshit about me".. Corey's takeaway from all of it: "do y'all think that I throw comps?"

Paul went back to civvies and as the retells and rehashes were underway in their separate corners, they got an announcement about storm updates.. they gathered in front of the living room monitor and got an audio clue about Super Storm Glenn raining cats and well-groomed dogs, nothing like it since Storm Jodi

They scattered back to their corners and studied, with Paul hyper-coaching in HOH and Nicole and Corey back in their usual horizontal anime position.. they expect to be kept up all night with clues, likely for the veto comp.. the next one came at 2.56am about Super Storm Jozea, the messiah of bad weather but the seas have not actually parted

Day 65 - Thursday, August 18

Jeffish conspiracy

Morning feeds went from from sleeping hamsters to fishies to Jeffish.. that's unusual for a Thursday so of course it set off conspiracy theories galore.. I don't think it meant anything at all - feeds came on around 1pm for eating/primping routines, and Paul and Natalie told Paulie he's a goner when he asked.. he cornered Natalie with a filibuster anyway, pitching how he could say he asked everyone for a sympathy vote and three of them gave him one - no.. Victor set in to rattle Nicole for the HOH comp by telling a vague story about "someone" calling her "malicious" and it worked, she got rattled

It was a very busy week, the best of the season by far, and arguably some of the best feeds of many seasons.. if you're behind, hit "previous Hamsterwatch episode" up top or my daily index anytime to catch up what you missed

We had the usual lengthy recaps, a lengthy Rachel, Brendon & baby segment, a jury house segment, and then Paulie was finally evicted unanimously after a very lengthy nominee speech.. he actually picked up Julie before sitting down to bravado, excuses, and claims of having faked his sorrows, but enough of that.. #PaulieEvictionParty trended on Twitter, as high as fifth place USA.. cap by @UGotBronx from Hamsterwatch Feeds Updates where you can find hundreds more

Julie had them open their envelopes one by one - Paul had the Round Trip.. she also announced Friday's special show (which will be their county fair event with a number of mini comps and prizes, Ziggy Marley, Jessie Godderz, start of HOH comp), and she said there will be another revival from among the first five jurors.. a RED ALERT sounded as the credits rolled, and Paul and his pelican hopped to it

The official BB Twitter announced feeds would be down several hours but they came back several minutes later for an hour or so of the usual psst-pssting before they went off to their comp.. they all agreed Paulie's speech was ridiculously long, and Natalie pushed an anti-Paul agenda to James, Nicole, Corey

A big win for Natalie

Feeds were down for five hours (again) but they finally came back around 2am to very messy hamsters.. Natalie won the HOH comp which involved finding things amid webs, honey, slime, goop, gunk, netting, and air blasts.. James rubbed her sore neck and congratulated her, happy for himself too of course

She asked the others several times if they threw it to her and they said no, she earned a hard one.. she said she only wanted bronzer and makeup, and no snacks, but we know they'll load her up with the junk food

The shower clogged (again) before they'd all even washed off their muck, a combination of the ever-present hair clogs and the various slime bits they had to wash off.. James unclogged it and later Victor cleaned out the entire filthy shower including the "razor graveyard" as well as the area around the shower

I didn't follow much of the nomination talks/paranoia because when they get the care package in the morning, everything will be redone.. Natalie finally got her room and pictures, along with childhood art sent from Venezuela and the bronzer, makeup, and lashes she wanted, as well as fruits and assorted snacks, sandals, and a letter from her momma that made her tear up a bit.. it had the usual pride and encouragement plus assorted news and chatter about tango dancing, piñata making, and zucchinis - Flashback 8/19 4.34am

Celebrity Big Brother

Another celeb series kicked off July 28! Outside UK, use Hide My Ass to watch live or archive shows and clips.. there are loads of other VPNs out there but I use and recommend HMA because it's safe, secure, and easy to use (just select a UK server), available for multiple platforms, plus they have great customer service for questions or problems

You can watch live at Channel 5's online live stream link.. shows are usually daily, plus Bit on the Side talk show and an hour live from the house, but check the air show schedule - remember UK time is 8 hours ahead of Pacific and 5 hours ahead of Eastern.. the official site has archive air shows and talk shows, highlights, previews, and info

Ratings - #PaulieEvictionParty edition

Ratings will be updated sooner or later, based on entertainment value.. for now, it's all good
VTE = Voted to evict

Another fun five-hour comp, another not fun five-hour feeds block.

Nice editing job on erasing Paulie from the county fair! An occasional hand or foot showed up but somebody got onto the #PaulieEvictionParty trend early. Now we know why every mention of the event went to fishies? Maybe his refusal to do his task and his general poor sport pissy asshat attitude made them give him the boot but without the formal ejection process? That might explain his mood swings and breakdown. We'll never know, but it did make for a tricky job for me in posting their winnings, since Paulie said on feeds he won the tv/tablet/phone package (plus $1,000) but the show had Victor winning that prize. As for the rest of the clipdown show, Ziggy was great, and that's all I have to say about that.

EVICTED 5-0
He mentioned Cody, Derrick, and Season 16 more than they were mentioned on Season 16. He had the most raging case of HOHitis we've seen in ages, never mind that most of the others just let him think he was in charge so they didn't have to be. His smugness was out of control, he was obsessed with saying Tiffany was really Vanessa, and he had issues with Bridgette being a feminist. He cuddled and more with Zakiyah while plotting against her, he berated her when she'd confront him about being so hot and cold, and he bragged to his boys that he 'boned' her all over the habitat. He peed in the hot tub, refused to make pie, cried when he lost, and he picked up Julie when he left.

Won: 8 days pixel suit; Outback dinner
TEAM CATEGORY 4

She was super perky and upbeat, with a dark side that was fun and fascinating. She was in a pixel bikini when feeds began, and she formed a solid friendship/alliance with Bronte and Natalie. She baked cookies nonstop and gathered intel for the Spygirls as everyone overlooked her and gametalked around her in the kitchen. Michelle hated her over a misunderstood eyebrows comment, and then Bridgette became everyone's target when she buddied up with Frank and won an HOH and veto the same week. But she survived two evictions after his, and openly confronted Michelle about their drama, eventually winning her over. She embraced Tiffany's Cabbage Patch tag, and she'll be missed.

Won: Outback dinner (guest)
TEAM BIG SISTER

Stunningly gorgeous plus photogenic, she came in as a fan since BB3 but said she was up for a showmance. She focused on the latter when she took a shine to Paulie, and that progressed from awkward overlong hugs to bumping in bumpercars. He gave her several verbal beatdowns but she kept going back for more, even as he plotted her demise with his boys. She also took a shine to a stuffed giraffe and gave it a birthday party, and she formed a couple friendships that might last beyond BB, notably with Da'Vonne and Michelle. Game-wise she didn't do much and she went eight consecutive shows with no Diaries. She had a Murphree-esque mirror routine but she avoided #Deathrace2016 - best stunt hair to date.

Won: Outback dinner (guest)
TEAM BIG SISTER

She lasted longer than last time, but not as long as she hoped. Like Frank and Nicole, she started gaming too hard and turning on her fellow vets, when the four of them could have steamrolled the eejit noobs and gone all the way. Da'Vonne played better than some, planting little poison seedbombs against others that took root and grew, but they came back to bite her. She gave us good Diaries again, creative turns of phrase, hair flips, deadly if-looks-could-kill glares, reaction faces deluxe, and occasional belly laughs. Now and then she dropped her game face and gave us a funny, relaxed one instead, and it was always good to see.

Won: 8 days pixel suit; Outback dinner
TEAM CATEGORY 4

He made a rookie mistake by playing too hard and fast, way too early, when he should have laid low and enjoyed the safety that was handed to him. But he played for his life last time, and he was mentored by the sidekick rather than the master. His social game was the best of the bunch till he got in trouble for slapping asses and being mouthy, but he's not a bad guy overall and his exit was a fatal hit for the feeds. Pixels were his third costume, a hamster record (until Nicole tied it). His friendship with Bridgette was fun to watch, with funky movie retells and baking, and every random topic under the sun.

Won: $2,500
TEAM FREAKAZOID

She came in looking and sounding so much like Vanessa it was spooky, but it didn't take long to realize her game was more Audrey-style chaos and sabotage than poker-faced strategy. Paulie's the only one who didn't get that memo but that's Paulie for you. Two weeks in a row she didn't campaign to save herself nearly as much as others campaigned for her, but when she transformed into Free Agent IDGAF Tiffany it was a joy to behold. I'm surprised #They let one of the six stuntcasts go before jury, but it just goes to show the whole thing isn't as rigged as some believe.

Won: Immunity 1st 2 evictions
TEAM UNICORN

She went in saying she'd use behavioral sciences to maneuver her way to the win but she spent most of her time with Bridgette and Natalie who were barely playing BB. Her huge confession to them about being the 'secret nerd' and aspiring mathematician was just silly, and she'll always be remembered for not knowing what 9x9 is. She didn't bring much to the table beyond her abnormally high voice and hair bows, and even the hair bows didn't stick around. She seems like a pleasant enough person but like so many others, she should have gone on a dating show instead.

Won: Nothing
TEAM BIG SISTER

One of the most delusional hamsters ever (and that's saying something), he was convinced he owned the house, he was the messiah of the newbies, the savior, the sanctuary, and the next Mario Lopez. He wore his doggie comp suit for days, but mostly he just wore underpants. His gametalks with Paul and Victor were pure comedy since they had no clue whatsoever how far out of every loop they were, and The Jozea and Paul Talk Show concluded with the two of them roaming the house looking for a camera that worked. Jozea's shtick got old fast for many, but he was feeds gold for trainwreck fans like myself.

Won: $2,500
TEAM FREAKAZOID

I didn't like having to combine an intro with an obit, but that's how the dog biscuit crumbles. He seemed like a fun guy with potential for fun feeds, especially his admission that he'd be 'willing to flirt if necessary' but he also might have gotten into heated political discussions, and BB is not the place for that. He didn't technically get Jodi'd since he got to compete twice, but gone before feeds is never good, and neither is trial by combat. Too bad the token older/regular person/fan got the first boot but young, pretty, hormonal hamsters are all the rage anymore.
