Day 58 - Friday 8/14

Pork chops and beefcakes

Two beefcakes and two cupcakes were caught on feeds stocking the pantry with the weekly grocery order from Ralph's.. it was a funny leak, as hamsters had gone to the pantry door to check on their food, and feedmasters switched to the interior like they normally would - oops.. Vanessa, Johnny, Steve were next in the Have-not rotation, and their supplement was Pork Slops (chops), not bad

Revelations about Vanessa's doings continued in HOH, and the plan to pawn both Becky and Johnny with Vanessa as backdoor target grew firmer.. their new knowledge gave them three new bargaining chips: Liz was supposed to throw that BOB, Meg and James were part of last week's backdoor Vanessa plan, and Becky made a safe deal with Johnny before nominations last week

Liz nominated Becky and Johnny as planned.. just before noms, Vanessa cornered Johnny in the parlor but he laid into her (in his low key, relaxed way of course) about how she'd yelled at him about Clay and that she'd been "bullying," using her own word against her.. needless to say, she didn't like that much and she walked out of the room

Man of the hour

Liz and Julia celebrated noms being over with some day-drinking, splitting a bottle of Liz's HOH wine.. being safe (for now), Vanessa went up to HOH to run her loops, like she does.. she focused on Johnny and told twins and Austin how he'd "exploded" at her (see pic above for said explosion).. she embellished by saying he was threatening, she was afraid for her safety, he called her a bully when she was the victim, and he likes death metal - I know, you couldn't make up if you tried

When she left, AusTwins made it clear they weren't buying what Vanessa's selling anymore, and then Johnny came in - Flashback 8/14 5.26pm.. he spilled all the dirt about all the Vanessa lies and double-dipping, and they spilled in return.. Johnny's facial expressions ranged from mildly amused to thoroughly delighted when he heard about what Vanessa had been saying all along, and especially today's supposed threats of violence he supposedly made, and a very good time was had by all.. Johnny also acknowledged no hard feelings because Liz didn't have much choice for her noms, and he agreed it wouldn't benefit AusTwins to get rid of Vanessa this week.. he did add that "whoever gets her eviction is like, a god"

Later, Johnny ate a cookie by mistake but the BB interwebs did not explode or call for petitions.. Steve hid all the Irish Spring from Austin, and told Liz about it, but the prank took a left turn when Steve lost it prematurely, spewing the milk he was drinking out his nose and all over the floor.. he and Liz busted up completely and it was hilarious - Flashback 8/14 6.22pm.. Austin had no idea why they were laughing so hard, but he eventually discovered his favorite sponsor product was "gone" and they all came clean

It was a quiet evening after all that.. they came up with a new game, Pot Ball - like beer pong without the beer.. Vanessa remained fairly quiet and isolated, not having been openly told how they're pretty much all unified against her now, but her intuition's very good about that stuff

Day 57 - Thursday 8/13

Double down

Vanessa's wheels were turning as they waited for their big night to get underway.. I had hopes she'd give us another Thursday matinee show and she did start up a bit - she got Austin heated about whether something was in a right or left hand in one of their quiz videos, and going back to say James was behind getting rid of Jace and Clay.. he stormed out of the room and later commiserated with Liz, saying "but it's too late now" - they were still planning on voting out Shelli

And that came to pass: Shelli was evicted unanimously and got the "love" question from Julie like Clay did.. their HOH comp was true/false about the quickie videos they saw yesterday, and Steve won that.. he nominated Meg and Jackie, surprising most

John, James, and Vanessa were drawn to play for veto, which was a rolly-ball board with a ski/snow theme (I thought everything was beachy this year?).. Johnny won that, and Steve was heard saying his was stuck or broken - maybe he'd been planning/hoping to win and put Becky up and out.. Johnny may have thought the same, and he didn't use his veto.. Jackie was evicted 6-1, with Becky dissenting

Here we go again

Feeds came back to Steve wigging out, saying he was too upset to talk yet, but eventually he apologized to James, Meg, Becky saying he wasn't expecting to win, but he had no relationship with Jackie despite trying to talk with her many times.. then they went off to their next HOH comp, which Liz won

She met with Julia, Austin, Steve, Vanessa and they more or less agreed Johnny as pawn and Becky as target would be best, with James as renom option if Becky should win veto.. all kinds of "reasons," cover stories, and fake alliance pitches were discussed, since it's that kind of season.. after Steve left, the twins, Vanessa, and Austin named themselves Austin's Angels, and posed accordingly.. incidentally, Austin's Angels trended on Twitter for a good long time

Double evictions and several comps mean long Diary sessions, but they finally got around to getting Steve's basket to him and Liz's room came along later.. his letter was from his mom with news of his baby nephew and his sister's engagement, and Liz's was from big sister Angela

The real/fake alliance pitches began to take place, mostly thanks to Vanessa's choreography.. Austin, twins, James, Meg will be Brass Tacks, plus or minus Vanessa.. the HOH group made their pitch to James and Meg, while Becky cried downstairs to Steve that she was sure she'll go home because she stuck her neck out to boot Vanessa but they rebelled and left her "out in the cold"

When Becky went to HOH she began with her same loops as last week to Liz, Julia, Austin.. Austin cross-examined her a bit, and then Becky cracked open the cereal to lay out Vanessa diagrams going back to Jackie/Vanessa HOH week, the whole backdoor Austin plan, and that Vanessa was the one who put the bug in Steve's ear to send out Jackie.. all that definitely got their attention, but time will tell if it comes to anything.. Vanessa went up to run damage control after Becky left but she didn't stay long, and Freaks and Geeks renamed themselves Scamper Squad, complete with a little paws-up dance signal.. Austin casually told the twins that Vanessa has probably made millions gambling because when someone does that for a living, big money's involved

He started badly, calling himself a 'superfan' after being recruited at a basketball game and marathoning a few seasons. He said BB is about making new friends and memories, and he had a problem with lies and backstabs except when he was doing it. He spent most of his time stapled to Shelli and they got a lot of mother/son jokes, but I saw them more as creepy Lannisters, especially when she went on about how like her brother he is. He provided loads of unintentional comedy, weird mouth things and mumbling translations, he peed in HOH shower, and he got out just in time.

Won: 1 week Wackstreet
Another superfan who found out it's easier to play BB from home, he fell into Vanessa's disastrous Renom Roulette wheel and went out earlier than many hoped. He got mouthy about many of them and popped some good funnies, but he laid around most of the time until it was too late. He gave us some of the best reaction faces of all time, especially the night they played squicky truth or dare - he even had a dedicated cam for much of it. He mentioned this site often, usually saying it's 'hard to navigate' so he'll probably never see this.

Won: Nothing
She was erratic and unpredictable, and the random ways she kept them stirred up made for some of the best feeds in ages. And as a bonus, she featured in all the fights, many because the others didn't believe her telling truths. They did buy most of the fibs, and without 'empirical evidence,' but they fell for her wacky gameplay more than twice. She marooned herself in a bed and a dental chair, with some laughs in between, and she got the 2nd ever penalty vote. I enjoyed watching her, and will miss her.

Won: Nothing
I haven't given many empty wheels before their time, and I don't think any of those got them as early as he did. But we've never had such a misogynistic, inappropriate, and unfunny pig before. CBS let him get away clean and that's what it is - I'm just glad to see the back of him.

Won: Power to nullify 3 votes
She wasn't afraid to confront people nor to keep fighting to stay, which was good for us, but didn't help her much. She figured out the twins early but didn't leverage that to her advantage soon or well enough. Her 'game on' fight with Audrey and pantry rant to us were memorable, especially her catch-phrase 'get your life!' She was smart, funny, and volatile. She didn't let us take full advantage of #DaVonneHasADaughter, a hashtag that was too good to be true.

Won: Nothing
He was like a parody of all the former surf boys we've had, with all the worst qualities of asshat hamsters past rolled into one. He verbally beat up on Steve a few times but the primetime version earned him viewer loathing, even if his actoring was lousy. He ranted, streaked, flipped us off, and mostly talked about himself, but he promised to save us all someday through music.

They erroneously said last year that BB16 would have 'the most houseguests ever' but this year they really did, with 17 total after the twins split into separate entities. Now my symmetry for this section is out of whack and I don't know what to put here.

Big Brother 17 FAQ
June 18 was Day 1 move-in. June 24 was CBS premiere, Day 7. Finale will be September 23, Day 98

Feeds are streamed by CBS, and accessible via All Access subscription. Call 888-274-5343 for account help, including cancellation.

CBS shows are Sundays 8pm, Wednesdays 8pm, eviction Thursdays 9pm (Global in Canada).

Big Brother After Dark is on POP (formerly TVGN). It airs Monday, Tuesday 11pm-2am; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday midnight-2am; Thursday 1am-3am. The aired blocks are recorded earlier on the same night.

The CBS app (by CBS Interactive) will play BB air shows and other CBS shows, but not feeds. Use your browser to watch feeds on mobile devices. The same All Access link used to subscribe will lead to the feeds viewing page if you're already signed up.

Liz and Julia had to survive five evictions in order to play separately as individuals, which they did, with Julia officially entering the game on Day 43. They switched places every few days. They had a limited time in Diary to change clothes, adjust their appearance, and exchange info. The non-playing twin was sequestered in a 'house,' possibly the jury house.

BB17 prizes are the same: $500k for the winner and $50k for 2nd place. Stipend for the others is $1,000 per week again, including pre-show hotel and jury sequester. Recruits or those with established pre-season fan bases might get more.

The habitat has 80 HD cameras (up four) and over 100 microphones.

The recorded in-house announcements are the voice of producer Don Wollman.
