Puppets, journalists and sabotage

A TV Guide article has been released and/or leaked indicating we'll have 14 hamsters to kick around this time, including some "superfans" - chances are that means loyal CBS viewers, but you never know, we may have a feedster or two in there who really knows the score.. click for pic and article which also describes Julie as the "puppet master".. thanks to Reality BBQ for the scoop

Meanwhile, a new commercial promises something along the lines of a mole and/or America's Player à la Big Brother 8: in it, Julie says "one is not playing to win" and "a saboteur will wreak havoc on the house".. CBS has issued a press release saying the others will know about the saboteur but not who it is, and that we'll find out who it is on the first live show July 15 - see Links of the Day to your right for more

As reported here last week, some of the journalists who spent several hours in the habitat last week have been confirmed, but we still have to wait a bit before we can get their reports.. among the BB12 beta testers were my guesses Matt Whitfield of Yahoo! Entertainment, Ben Mandelker of BSideBlog.com, Andrea Reiher of Zap2it.com, and Matt Maynard of WeLoveBigBrother.com, along with new discovery Derrik Lang of AP Entertainment

Their reports should be posted Wednesday, which gives you plenty of time to GET THE FEEDS before all the upcoming announcements distract you from taking advantage of the $10 Early Bird discount before it expires

Waiting game

It's T minus two weeks, and there isn't a lot we can do but wait - well, that's not exactly true: we can and should pay the bills, tell friends & family good bye for the summer, clean the house, bathe the dog, cut Netflix down to one DVD at a time and/or put the account on hold, and stock up on convenience foods, snacks and coffee

We'll have pics of the new habitat before that though, and reports from the 11 journalists who did a one-day dry run of the habitat, and of course we'll find out who the fresh meat new hamsters are sometime next week - when their names & info gets released, let the digging begin!

I've posted this little checklist for several seasons now but it's usually ignored.. maybe this time we'll get lucky

Hamsters
Please work at being interesting all the time! Do not sing, do not whisper, and above all, do not be boring! TALK TO US - we're listening. If you lie to another hamster, make sure we know you're doing so! Importantly, if you win a veto comp, be sure to LET US KNOW as comps are not on the feeds! I would say be careful with personal stuff you say or inappropriate stuff you do since we see & hear everything, but that would spoil our fun.

Producers
Once again ads are promising big changes and teasing big secrets: please, your twists are always dumb, pointless, and outdated even before the premiere hits the air - if you have interesting hamsters, twists are not necessary! Also, please try to edit the CBS shows from what's actually going on rather than making up some fictionalized version - this is not "The Hills". PLEASE KEEP FEED BLACKOUTS TO A MINIMUM, and either make them silent or turn down the volume on the damn music. Finally and most importantly, PLEASE DO NOT BE STINGY WITH THE BOOZE! A well-lubricated hamster is a fun hamster (and will give you material to make racy commercials).

Also please rethink my idea of putting food restrictees on a liquid diet instead of slop, which has long since run its course. And please give us comps on the feeds - we know directors talk to them, we know you do retakes, and we don't mind. We also know immediately who wins, so what's the harm? Finally, it's not too late to consider letting the viewers vote for evictions.. even you can't deny how well it works for "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars". People want a say in who they have to watch! Hamsters would still fight and hook up, and that's all you really need to make a TV show out of it.

You guys rock! Let's remember to keep it fun and poke fun at those deserving it, and avoid hating on the hamsters - without them and their stupidity courage in putting themselves out there for our amusement, we'd have to find something else to do all summer.
