>> James & Chelsia are Heads of Household - Alex & Amanda and Matt & Natalie are nominated <<

>> Joshuah & Sharon won veto - Amanda & Allison taken away temporarily and returned safely <<

Game on, and two down

Adam hosted the veto comp, and Joshuah & Sharon won.. Sharon said it was nice to win, and to have had the opportunity to play.. Joshuah asked if the medallions were solid gold - I think not

It looks like they had hard hats for the comp - whether for necessity or style remains to be seen - and it involved peanuts

Now we'll find out how much influence Sharon & Joshuah really have in there, especially over James & Chelsia.. it should get interesting

Allison is a hands-down Line of the Day award winner already, with "I think I had [a guinea pig] when I was really little and I didn't take care of it.. my mom told me that it went to the farm, but they probably killed it".. umm, isn't that kind of parental line used when a pet dies - on its own?

Sheila & Allison had a big fight, starting about who told everyone about Sheila's yeast infection and escalating to everything else.. lots of the others were listening in.. afterwards Allison went up to HOH and celebrated with Chelsia how well it went, and it was reported to Sheila that Amanda was the one who spread the Monostat around - not Allison.. Sheila & Allison kissed and made up, kinda.. Sheila & Amanda then went a few rounds

Before long Amanda went down in what they were saying was a faint, from being hypoglycemic and on slop - what I caught was her gasping and shaking, badly.. Joshuah hit the panic button and they were starting to take her to Diary when we went to flames

After the flames, we found out that Allison was also carted away to the ER, apparently after having eaten a peanut and suffering a severe allergic reaction

The wounded return

Well, not wounded per se, but close

We got what was perhaps intentional diary slippage for a few minutes during early Showtime, the whole gang of them in there and the voice of producer Allison Grodner telling them both Allison & Amanda were ok and would be returning shortly.. she also said flowers would be delivered as requested, and that they need to get back out there for Showtime

They set about making a nail polish get well card which was a nice touch

Amanda came back in first, looking ragged.. she didn't even make a dramatic re-entry but went straight to one of the bedrooms.. she was lured out for her flowers & card but didn't elaborate a lot on what happened: she seemed truly wrecked

Allison followed soon after, and had a lot more detail to share.. she said her face had swelled up and she had hives head to toe when her throat began to close and her tongue swelled up.. she said Alex was the only one who saw her so I guess he got into her Diary and medical attention? She was in Diary when Amanda went down.. Allison said she didn't think it was the comp peanut she ate as she eats them at ballgames, but they're coming in to give her allergy tests tomorrow

They were both greeted enthusiastically by all, but especially by Sheila who seemed truly shaken and apologetic for having gone off on both, especially Allison, just before all that.. both girls went to bed soon after, and so did a lot of the others

Not to be forgotten, Natalie has been suffering with a migraine for most of the day and evening

Postscript: Joshuah

He lays around too much for my liking, and he talks game way too much for me.. even if he is good at it, strategizing has never been my top priority, especially when there are still a dozen of them to strategize around

But he has a few choice moments here & there, and I always like to acknowledge and highlight these one of a kind artistic shots by the camera crew

Later Joshuah went from this AAUUGGGHH pose to conversing while performing personal grooming, like they do, and it was a good sequence.. in keeping with this episode's hygiene sub-plot, I took a cap of him rubbing his mouth with this Q-tip between aural canal visits.. fortunately for all of us, the cap came out too fuzzy to use

Alex & Amanda's fight over her short shorts and her response that everyone wears them made E!'s "The Soup" tonight.. host Joel McHale's intro was "Keep in mind, these two have only known each other seven days"

Daily ratings - Special 911 edition, aka Top 10 Causes of Infection

Ratings are based on entertainment and/or humanitarian value

It's too long between Wednesday and Sunday to keep rerunning show reviews and today was a special case. First off, big ups for being on the ball with emergency medical help when needed, especially in duplicate. Ups too for the Diary slippage letting us know, with them, that the patients were ok, returning soon, and for the flowers: fresh flowers in there once in a while would not be amiss under lesser circumstances. However, those solid ups are tempered by serious negativity by putting someone in there with hypoglycemia and rerunning the slop theme. They do medical screens on these guys and if Amanda is indeed hypoglycemic - and that sure looked & sounded genuine - then the slop should have gone this year. It's old anyway: nobody much cares about it except those on it.. they'll never have another Chicken George slop story. Why not just replace food comps with something more creative, go back to PB&J, or better yet, if they must have food deprivation, put the losers on a liquid diet. Milk, fruit juice, V8, beef/chicken broth, and sports/carb drinks make a balanced diet. Throw in protein drinks, soda, coffee, tea and especially BOOZE and it's all good for all, but the psychological aspects of just drinking while everyone else is eating their favorite foods could get really tasty. Get on the ball, Big Brother! Mess with their heads and not with their health.

Paired with Sheila

I don't much care if he has legal or tax problems when he gets out of here anymore than I ever care who wins the $500k - neither affect my life - but I have to wonder at CBS's judgment on this one. They didn't have to air the 'retards' comment, ever. Nobody saw it on feeds or Showtime, but they chose to put it on the show, perhaps in hopes of creating controversy that would turn into ratings (heaven knows they need help there). Things like an autism group or the Family Network calling for a boycott would be likely to do more good than harm for CBS, dollars-wise, but when a major national sponsor like Lowe's pulls their ads from BB, it's a very big deal for The Powers That Be. It's very possible Adam will go next week, with or without Sheila depending on twistage, in much the way BB8ers were persuaded to flip from sending home PR nightmare (and token Jew) Eric during Ambergate week.

NOMINATED
Paired with Amanda

I'm only going by Allison saying that he was the only one who saw her swelled up so I'm ass-uming he stepped up and got her the help she needed. I did see him trying to get Diary's attention for Amanda, and he didn't make a big deal of either afterward. Not making a 'look what I did' fanfare about it makes it all that much better. Then again, as someone who waited for the true heroes of 9/11 to dig thru the remains of WTC, he probably knows what a 'hero' really is.

Paired with Ryan

Ups are the best thing I've got in lieu of flowers, and I'm very glad she's ok. She would have gotten easy ups today anyway for her blowup with Sheila and subsequent celebration about it later with Chelsia. I still don't know if that fight was partially staged or not, but it sure felt like the real deal. Her sudden illness was definitely genuine, as her face was still puffy when she came back and she didn't sound quite right when she spoke (she'd said her tongue was still somewhat swollen). She's very lucky everyone was on the ball today as her situation had very serious potential, and we're all looking forward to her allergy results to see if a veto comp peanut was the culprit or something else.

NOMINATED
Paired with Alex

More ups in lieu of flowers as what I saw of her situation looked and sounded scarily legit, in spite of her tendency to cry 'wolf'. I didn't really know what to make of it at the time but heard some of them say 'her eyes rolled back', 'she went lifeless for a minute' and so forth, and her undramatic return, going straight to the bedroom, was hugely out of character for her drama queen tendencies. I do hope she's ok and stays that way. The odds of two of them having legit medical emergencies at the same time are astronomical, but for it to be our two biggest attention deficit cases makes me think I should start making a tinfoil hat.

Co-HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD
Paired with James

I'm not sure what part she did or didn't play in either of today's emergencies nor do I know why she & Allison celebrated after the Sheila/Allison blowout, so no comment on either of those. But I did enjoy her & James having a long, friendly, non-lip smacking, get-to-know-you convo after the rest of them went to bed. Update: a bit of lip smacking did follow, but that's ok. They lost a bit of heat when he moved to talk of rim jobs and loogies.

Co-HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD
Paired with Chelsia

He & Alex were trying hard to get Diary's attention when Amanda went down and somebody was probably watching from inside, but Allison was already in there and I'm sure they were in chaos mode. He made some comments after all the brouhaha about the game being of no importance compared to genuine people having genuine problems like today, and kudos for that. He also gave a bit of backstory about his childhood to Chelsia about having an aura- & chakra-reading mom, and carrying around crystals in his junior high backpack as a result, that lent some explanation to how he got to be who he is. He also gave up TMI about his dad, which I'll leave out here in respect for innocent bystanders everywhere, and he let on just how kinky he really is when he was surprised that Chelsia had never given a rim job.

HOLDS VETO
Paired with Neil Sharon

I'm going by assumption about Alex with Allison, but I witnessed Joshuah in action when it was Amanda's turn. He was on the ball, jumping on that panic button when it was required, and the door opened when they needed it to. I'm not sure, but I think that's the first time anyone ever hit it? I'm glad he thought to do it: it says a lot about him, and it's good to know the panic button actually works after all these years of hearing about it. He also laughed at everyone always saying 'check the tapes' by pointing out the obvious that seems to escape most of them: 100+ cameras on 24/7 get compressed to just 3 hours a week, less comps and commercials. Of course, there's always the videos.. but the 'check the tapes' hamsters never think about them (til they get out and discover them).

NOMINATED
Paired with Natalie

He's often our comic relief and today was no exception when we found out he was asking the EMT guys about sports scores out here.. I'm sure he wasn't getting in the way of life support or anything. I heard he brought a bag of frozen peas to Natalie for her head, and it was good to hear these two did a reverse of which one services the throbbing of the other.

NOMINATED
Paired with Matt

Still more flowers for the sunshine girl having a migraine day while all this was going on around her. As one who knows their brutality, I feel for her - especially with all those tv lights on all the time - and I hope she's fully recovered by morning. I have to ask again, why would they accept someone in there with a history of migraines? Most anyone would get one in there within a half hour from the stress and drama level.

Jen's boyfriend/Paired with Allison

He too pointed out the relevance of reality tv versus reality, and confirmed (for me) that Allison had disappeared quietly before Amanda did publicly when he said something about 'I hadn't even realized my girl was gone when all that started.'

HOLDS VETO
Paired with Jacob (her ex) Joshuah

Kudos to her & Joshuah both for winning the veto and for continued intense & savvy gaming, but it wasn't that kind of day and I didn't see much else of her. I think she's reading her Bible straight through like literature, which reaffirms my longtime recommendation that they should either be illegal in there, or everyone should be able to bring reading material to pass the time and escape the madness.

Paired with Adam

Easy ups again for her big blowout with her protege Allison, despite the fact that Allison's been going around behind her back just as Sheila accused her of doing. Was it an act or was it a genuine fight? I don't know: I only listen to a fraction of their hours of one-on-ones with each other. Maybe it was a bit of both. At any rate, you had to feel for her when the patients returned, as she'd gone off on each of them just before they fell ill. In the paranoid enclosed habitat that is BB, that's probably like saying 'I hope you die' in anger to someone, and they do. Someone said her yeast wouldn't be on tv, but she showed some keen BB insight once again by referring to BB8's gonorrhea boys.

Won: $5k
Ryan's girlfriend/Paired with Parker

She & Ryan could have gone far if she hadn't opened her mouth in the first days. She made loads of enemies in a short time and took Parker down with her. She'll be remembered for super-quickie sex in the bathroom and a rash on her backside.. hmm, coincidence?

Won: $5k
Paired with Jen

He was good watching at first til he gave up and went on strike. He rebounded a bit at the end but his doom came early when partner Jen couldn't keep her trap shut about her & Ryan. She had to go, and he was just the innocent bystander casualty. 'I'm sick of people's dumbass assinine ass comments' might be Line of the Season.

Paired with Joshuah

He left suddenly and mysteriously but wrote on his MySpace that he didn't leave for health reasons and that he won't be back. He seems like a good guy and I wish him well.. he's probably lucky he got out when he did, unscathed.

Paired with Sharon (his ex)

Gone before the feeds kicked in: he didn't even make an appearance. All that potential for rehashing their breakup and/or a jealous rage up in smoke. To make it worse, he & Sharon didn't even get an exit interview in Julie's boudoir - how rude!

Jen & Parker didn't do 'Housecalls' or 'Early Show', and Jacob hasn't surfaced either.. maybe they're all sequestered to rotate back in later.

HOH comp consequences:
No hot water for 72 hours
Females wear swimsuits for 24 hours
No drinking cups for 1 week
Females cook dinner for 1 week
No washing machine for 2 weeks
Margarita party coming (but don't expect mass quantities after James & Chelsia's HOH pass-outs)

Julie said tune in for couples nomination & couples veto, and 'the' live eviction. Maybe nothing, maybe something: last week she clearly said Feb 20 would be couples eviction.

Nobody knows when or if they'll play solo at some point, but CBS has announced it will be a full season.

This site isn't necessarily thorough: it's what I catch and/or what interests me. It also isn't necessarily about who should win, who will win, who I'd be friends with or who is cute. It's about watching hamsters: which ones are doing what and why, which are fun and which are dull. If they aren't entertaining, get rid of 'em! Thanks for encouraging my behavior.
